  1. Looking at the predicted extended forecast it looks pretty promising. Each day that passes the longer the days get, the warmer the average high is supposed to be. Let’s hope it goes that way instead of a repeat of last year.
  2. If you’re in to fly fishing there’s a fly shop in Rockford just north of GR. Enjoy GR, you’re coming during some decent weather too. Usually it’s in the low 20’s to upper teens this time of the year.
  3. I didn’t have a MEGA just a G2N. I played around with it and didn’t get results I was happy with, so I traded it for a Garmin. As far as the color goes I like the Amber and green. On my Garmins I prefer the green and blue. As far as I know there isn’t anything you can do to hardwire them. You can use an SD card and go around setting waypoints then transfer them to your bow unit. That’s about the extent of my Helix knowledge.
  4. Everyone is different with their setup. The best thing to do with a new set up is time on the water, no two pair of eyes are the same. If your other Helix doesn’t have network capabilities then you can’t share information between the two units.
  5. I stumbled upon these a few weeks ago on amazon and thought I’d get a pair for early spring. I haven’t ordered them yet, but am glad you enjoy them.
  6. Late to the party hear as well. The brown bass (out of a lake) completely eluded me. This was my first year with my G3, first year fishing offshore, first year with actual electronics, and first year fishing for smallmouth out of a lake. I have a tiny river near by that I frequent and catch a few out of there. Looking back I had my expectations set a little too high! With all these first I should have been happy just getting a line wet. I didn’t get out on the smallmouth lake nearly as much as I wanted or thought I would. While I was left pretty bummed out not catching any, it also left me more thirsty to hit it hard this year as soon as the lid comes off the lake.
  7. Lol. Glad you can have fun with it. Watch out for falling iguanas.
  8. Redundant threads are plentiful in the winter. Total myth! ?
  9. Holy cow that brought back some memories! Watching that, I don’t think it stands the test of time.
  10. Sorry to hear this Tom. You and your family are in our thoughts.
  11. The forecast for the next ten days includes rain, snow, and upper 30’s during the day. It won’t get rid of the ice but will certainly slow down the production.
  12. Congrats to you! 17 years cancer free next month for me. When I had my broviac removed, the nurse before the procedure asked if I wanted to keep it as a momento or to destroy it (apparently some do) I said “hell no, I’m done with this and not looking back!
  13. So no ice road trucking in your future then?
  14. So if you were to start a new business and had access to proven professionals that will undoubtedly help your business you wouldn’t contact them or make them an offer? You would go with fresh green employees/contractors with little to no experience? ?
  15. They can have it. Actually it was a nice crisp morning, not too cold, dead silent, and a nice sunrise as in the sun actually showed itself (something that doesn’t happen during the Michigan winter). So all in all a pretty good morning.
  16. Sometimes it freaks me out when the ice shifts or cracks and pops when new ice is forming. I was around 8 or so and we were ice fishing at night in my stepdads shanty and the ice decided to shift and water shot up about six inches through the hole. I needed new underwear after that. Google Tip Up Town. It’s a festival on the ice in northern Michigan, it’s actually this weekend so take a road trip.
  17. Wait a minute.....so you’re telling me there’s several Lake Menderchucks?
  18. I’m not a fan of ice fishing either. My son got a portable shanty for Christmas. He’s 9 and the few times we’ve gone he thinks it’s fun. I’m not going to discourage him from liking it. I guess I’ll just have a sore tongue until spring.
  19. It has it’s ups and downs like with anything. I grew up having a cottage on a lake, and we were always fishing even after selling the cottage. I’ve always loved being on the water. I wish we had more space at our house but like most Michigan lakes that’s a trade off, is space or a lack of. There’s a vacant lot across the street from us and I’m hoping it goes on the market soon, I need a garage.
  20. My “home lake” if the boat is in the water I walk about 30 feet out the back door to my boat. If my boat is on the trailer I have to drive about 3 miles to the other side of the lake to the boat launch. Off the top of my head I have 20 lakes with in 15 minutes of my house I could launch my boat. If I really looked over the map it’s probably closer to 35-40 lakes with in 15-20 minutes of my house. Living in Michigan has it’s perks.
  21. I appreciate the warm months and the humidity while awful at times is becoming more tolerable (holy crap I’m turning into my dad). The winters....I have my mood swings. If you just let me have my tantrum I’ll be better, they never last long. ?
  22. What I wouldn’t give to be in Mexico right now chasing giant bass! I just don’t have the patience for winter this year. Now I know why bears hibernate!
