  1. in my experience your on the right track. you have to look for the juciest thickest cover , also irregularities. also its been my experience with flipping deep milfoil you gotta commit to it. i can flip for 2 hours with no bites the catch in 5 flips in one little spot. seth feider has a great youtube video on it. look up seth feider flipping grass.
  2. didnt open the link dont need too. the best bait in the world is worthless if the fish dont see it.
  3. when you set the hook some of that plastic could ball up in the bend of the hook. thats why you need a wider gap for the thicker worm. most bass are gonna grab the bait close to the head thats why the length of the worm really matter.
  4. no the legend tournament in the drop shot model has a light tip but it gets stout pretty quick. i have 2 of them and usually have a weightless senko on one all spring. now this is all opinion of course . i use 20 lb braid to a 10lb fluoro leader and fish mostly moderate cover.
  5. i have the previously mentioned st.croix legend tournament . i would go with the dropshot model. i also have a shimano expride 610 and like it too for ned and drop shot.its a little light for my liking for anything else.
  6. yeah its californias covid nonsense. not their fault. theyre only allowed so many pickers etc. i just ordered an expride from them, will take 3 weeks. i would have ordered somewhere else but nobody had it. and since i have rods i can use in the mean time i didnt pay for expidited shipping.
  7. yes go by the thickness. i fish a 3/0 in a culprit 7.5 inch all the the time. now a rage cutr work may be only 6 inches but has a thicker body. i use a 4/0 in it.
  8. havent done champlain yet but im taking either fieder or palunik from a bucket and the other for the st.lawrence. classic sucked for me. i got a bunch of northern hammers left for drain the lake though
  9. call me a snob moron whatever but i refuse to buy any of those neon rods. i dont even like white. i know the fish dont care but they look like something from the toy department at walmart.
  10. ill usually start deeper. im not a great deep water fisherman so i work on it . when the sun gets high i head for the thick grass, flipping stick and heavy sinker in hand . not alot of guys do that here and while i think the population of fish in there is smaller they dont see baits very often. you may fish for 2 or 3 hours and not get a bite but then hit that magic little spot and catch 4 in 4 casts.( flips actually)
  11. shimano expride 610 medium is nice if your not in heavy cover.
  12. always wear a buff and gloves. just started with the gloves this year and i like the protection from fish fins and hooks as well as the sun. if it gets too hot i dip the buff in some melted ice water in my cooler.lol
  13. i use humminbird but that looks like fish on a boulder to me.
  14. carolina rig. texas rig worm. flipping/ punching rig.topwater, deep diving crank. 2 drop shots ned rig shakey head.
  15. we used to call them tomato worms and yes we caught them with them.
  16. i have 2 guys i fish with. and enjoy fishing with them. but i love fishing by myself. i can concentrate and think through the process better. theres nobody else to worry about. i do what i want to do when i want to do it. pretty rare in this day.
  17. i catch more fish on texas rigged worms every year than any other bait, when it gets hot around here in the summer and the milfoil grows out to 15 to 17 feet.ill probably have 3 different weights and styles of worms on and chances are one of them will be the main bait that day.

to me the adrenaline craw has better action than a rage craw.it also makes an excellent flipping bait.
  19. oh ok sorry. in that case lets say its after the spawn and i think the fish are moving out to deeper water. now as to said the bass location is dependent on the food supply. bass dont move to deep water just because the shallow water warms up. they do it because thats where the main food supply is located. anyway im gonna look at a map if at all possible.on the map im gonna look for things like sharper breaking places on points or not where the channel swings close to shallow water. in the summer our grass grows to about 17 feet so if i can find a sharp break right near that 17 foot line ill mark that. ill look for humps or rises. it may only be a couple feet change but it can be enough. the ill go to the water and look for COVER on those things which areSTRUCTURE. cover can be a hard spot rock pile, grass, bottom hardness change etc. if i see those things on the STRUCTURE then i will fish regardless if i see fish or not.
  20. i think from the sound of your lake i would concentrate on the shallow cover until it fails, when and if that happens i would revisit the depthfinder and deeper water.
  21. yeah im not sure the color means much either. i use gill perch and french pearl. i fish mine on an expride 6'10" medium.
  22. hmm if its a small lake there a re probably no maps.if there is especially an eletronic one i like to look to see if there is a channel steep point etc. what state are you in? is it possible most of the fish are still up shallow? is there vegatation inthe lake? does it have a good bass population?
  23. you are kind of right. what those baits are offering is a vey subtle action of the tail imparted by slight movement of the rod tip or just slight current in the water .that way you get subtle life like action from the bait without having to move the sinker. ive tested the flat worm in my inground pool and it doesnt have as good an "action" as some other baits or as good a floatation. you have to put slight tension on the line or it wants to sink more. however the fish seem to gobble them up like candy so i guess that really doesnt matter. must have to do with the special sauce berkley puts in them.
  24. reins bubbling shaker.grande bass air tail wiggler. both have air chambers in the tail and stand straight up
