  1. When I fish my chatterbait so I can feel my whole arm vibrate I like it though cuz if it stops that generally means I hit some weeds and it's not swimming right
  2. Well after seeing what you got there I can only say that I would get a med power fast action baitcasting set up good for wacky rig senkos finesse jigs or just lighter tackle cuz if ur ok with the 7' length then the chatterbait rod can also be a topwater/jerkbait or the crankbait rod u got can be used for top waters but if it's like a buzz bait type topwater I would go with ur chatterbait rod depending on how heavy your med heavy frog rod is you can us it for pitching and flipping if it's something like a st croix med heavy if not u can invest in something like that
  3. Yeah probably best to go with a 6'6" I go with 7' cuz I don't have the budget for many rods I only got three rn that's cuz I rather have a few quality rods than many so so rods
  4. Yeah 7' to 6'6" for jerkbaits and topwater rods, Though I love 7' for most except spinning setups I go a bit short I don't generally go over cuz I can't fit the longer rods in my garage and car as well
  5. Same I have a old convergence rod I got like five or six years ago not bad but for how much I fish I would like a nicer one for weightless senkos and flukes
  6. Well some ppl like fast while others like med-fast or moderate if you blaze your baits go with a med-fast or moderate the reason be is because when you jerk the bait through the water with fast you pull the jerk bait much farther than a moderate due to the bend and it is also a treble hook lure so moderate does good for that too forgot to mention for brands u can't go wrong with Diawa shimano or lews
  7. St croix triumph with a shimano citica comes out to about $250 but is a nice combo
  8. Well ice fishing kicks in in a couple months
  9. If it's a buzz bait yeah but something like a spook the floro my have a little affect on the action I actually want to get into some top waters but I have floro on my crank rod too I'm thinking of switching the line to suffix siege
  10. Like Burtonxj said for specifics a drop shot or shaky head but u said something about a spinning rod so that could be used for that and senkos but ik some ppl have senko specific rods that's an idea if u like to throw senkos
  11. Yeah the blades add that resistance. That's why I like a mod fast action rod for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits when your running them through the water the top of the rod is bent and when a bass slams it you already to the power of the rod blank and you can do a reel down hook set I seem to always get good hook sets this way.
  12. For about a $90 setup you can get a shimano convergence and sienna I have this as my spinning set up right now works great
  13. well you have it pretty wel covered do you have a pitching and flipping rod? do you fish bass only? Cuz I have some ideas but aren't really bass specific.
  14. Not to long ago I was river fishing with my friend and he caught a smallie that had a hook coming out of it's butt. Anyone else ever have this experience? I found it quite funny but reassuring that a swallowed Hook doesn't mean dead fish.
  15. What's funny is i pitched this idea to a friend as joke a while back and he shot it down
  16. Makes sense I don't see the largemouth the only close large pool of slack water is right where your not allowed to fish from the bank
  17. They were really thinking about throwing light lures when they made the panfish and trout rods held them in cabelas couldn't put them down I forgot about them but I also would recommend those rods
  18. Is not ideal for bass it's more meant for panfish but med Light is defently better for bass because you can drop sot with it effectively but if you see the bass wacky rig a nightcrawler an ul will easily cast it weightless and the with a slow sink it's a slim chance he won't take it.
  19. Shimano sienna 500fd and a fenwick eagle or for an even nicer rod st .croix ul premier or triumph The ul fenwick feels almost like a light
  20. I fish fast rocky water and it seems to produce smallies still in the fall with tubes and in the summer I actually find the shallow water is better for smallies in currents than deep water (in rivers for me at least). Try to look for little slack water spots in the current, it seems to produce well. As for largemouth they seem non existent in this part of the river sometimes I get a rare 10" one but I haven't done much exploring for river largies.
  21. You can try silver or white crappie tubes. I fish them in the fox river here in st. Charles. It is around three feet deep and very rock the tubes work great. My friend and I first started this summer fishing the river and the first 2 times we went we caught nothing we were using flukes and inline spinners. Then decided to throw the tubes I had on hand for panfish. Well I ended up catching 13 smallies and my friend 17. But they were all around 8-12". So I recommend go to Walmart buy a cheap pack of crappie tubes and see if they will hit them. If they do go to bass pro and try out the bass pro 2 1/2" squirt tubes in the watermelon color we did a lot of experiments with colors and size 2 1/2" watermelon was the best, bps also sells the squirt inside rig heads. The white and silver crappie tubes in he 1 1/2" work very well too but the 2 1/2" catch bigger fish obviously. For me usually around 12-16", Also the weather Is getting cold here too and they seem to still hit, my buddy just caught a 16 yesterday. If you do fish them in rocky currents which is were I get the best success I recommend light braid with a mono/fluorocarbon leader whatever is on hand. Tubes tend to get wedged in rocks easily in shallow fast moving water and the bow and arrow trick with the braided line works very well in getting them out. Sorry for the added story, just thought I'd give my experience scince I had the same problem as the original poster.
