  1. No, it just means his scales aren't sensitive enough to weigh beyond 1 gram graduations, meaning no decimal places. So in worse case scenario, the original Redeye could weigh 14.5 grams and the 2 tap could be weighing 15.4 grams. Both would be rounded off (or reading) 15 grams on the scale. Too bad I don't have any 2 taps or I could weigh them at work. I have a scale that goes to 4 decimal places. Guess I gotta go buy a 2 tap now. ?
  2. Beech, right? Never fished there, but I have an uncle that's fished it and Pinoak quite a few times. My understanding is those lakes can be tough nuts to crack. Plus, tough conditions this weekend after cold weather & a front moving thru on Friday.
  3. You didn't miss anything. I managed to go to a local pond in Southaven for the last hr & half of daylight. Not a single nibble. Not even on a Ned Rig. ? Good luck tomorrow.
  4. I'm somewhat guilty of this, but not because of watching tourneys on tv. I'll carry up to 7 rods/combos depending on the location I'm fishing. And that's in my lil 12 ft jon boat. I might have a shaky head set up, shallow cranks, lipless cranks, topwater frog, swimbait set up, weightless soft plastic (fluke, etc), and a Texas rig. To me, it's that the reels & rods are so technique specific now, which is good. Makes presentations easier & leads to more landed fish. But there are some lakes I fish that I know I'll only need 2-3 rods. Just depends. @WRB Your story reminds me of a similar instance where this happened to me and a buddy. We were fishing a shallow lake that was just covered in grass & lily pads. We passed a family in a boat that was leaving just as we launched and started heading out to a big grass flat. I asked if they'd had any luck. The woman responded (in a very thick redneck tone), "You see all that grass? That's all you gonna catch." I looked over at her husband who was holding a rod with what looked like 1/4 oz t rigged lizard. I proceeded to make my 1st cast with a weightless Ribbit frog. Not 10 cranks in, I had about a 2 pounder blow up on it which I quickly reeled in. When I turned around, I saw all 3 (father, wife & son) staring at me wide eyed with their mouths open, lol. Quite a funny sight. So the "You see all that grass" became our catch phrase the rest of the day, and we still say it occasionally & laugh. Btw, only had 2 rods that day. Ribbit frog & weightless fluke. I think we caught over 40 before the sun set.
  5. I wish. Was gonna go, but now I'm doing chores around the house.
  6. Yeah, I was using 10 lb braid with a finesse TRD on a 1/10 oz shroomz - wasn't very weedless given the hook gap. Had a couple of snags & had to straighten out the hook once. Plus, fall rate was fairly fast. But it did cast well and the TRD was floating, so it stood up on bottom with a nice action & looked just like a small feeding baitfish. I'll probably go get some of the 1:15 oz shroomz. The one I caught nailed it bouncing off some rocks. Got a few other nibbles that I think were panfish.
  7. Are you using the shroomz or are you making your own jig for the Ned? I know you make a lot of your own stuff is why I'm asking. I looked at the 1/20 oz and 1/15 oz size shroomz heads & man the hooks on those things were so tiny it looked like a crappie or bream hook. Ended up buying the 1/10 oz just for the slightly larger hook. After fishing it yesterday, kinda wish the bait had a slightly slower fall rate. But I did catch my fish Ned Rig fish. ?
  8. It's not that people aren't being taught fishing etiquette, I think people aren't being taught manners in general. Seems unchecked rudeness can be experienced in every facet of life. Ok, it's official. I just turned into my Dad. Lol.

Yeah, that's def a deal. I'm usually happy if I can find them for $5 a pack.
  10. Academy Sports has all their H2O Express hardbaits marked $1 off. Most of them were only $1.99 or $2.99. There were so many of those red "hot deal" labels in that section that you couldn't see the actual baits. ?
  11. Great story! I enjoyed the video interview too. They seem like a lovely sweet couple. Thanks for sharing. ?
  12. Love this pic of the Scum Frogs. I worked there for a while during college.
  13. Ha. Don't feel bad. I had to go back and look at all the comments on this bear to make sure I hadn't seen it already. I kept thinking, did I see this bear before & commented but I forgot about it. Lol.
  14. This one and the small bass are my favorites. Not sure why I like this bear so much, he just looks cool. ? Btw, I thought you said the lion was gonna be your last one for a while. You might have stumbled upon a 2nd addiction. ?
  15. Guess I'm fortunate. I still go to my local fishing stores often. I frequent a Sportsman's Warehouse we have & I'm on first name basis with a few guys in the fishing dept. One of them guides locally & he's always good to talk about fishing & what he's been using & having success with. Same goes for one of our Bass Pro stores. Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking. But a couple of the guys fish local tourneys & belong to clubs. They have pretty good info. Plus, I like just going & talking fishing. I know Bass Pro is lacking when it comes to some high end stuff & they're bad about pushing their house brand. But it's the only place I can find RES & Baby 1 minuses in the colors I want.
  16. No, you're not normal. But you're a normal fisherman. Welcome to the club. Lol. ?
  17. Well this is great! Just great! After swearing off the bait monkey, I read this thread and an article on another site that are both praising the Ned Rig. Now guess where I'm going during my lunch break! ?
  18. I don't think there is anything wrong with branching out & trying new equipment, baits, rods, etc. It's part of the process & makes us better anglers. I've been die hard Shimano for 10+ years, but I bought a Lew's 2 yrs ago & just bought a Tatula CT I'm looking forward to trying soon. @Angry John and @new2BC4bass you guys aren't the only ones. I got 4 new reels (Curado I, Citica I, the Tat CT & a cheapo Academy Sports baitcaster: this one for beater bank fishing) all NIB & waiting to be spooled & put to use. Plus, 2 low end Shimano spinning reels NIB - dang forgot those. Fishing & tackle really is an addictive thing. ?
  19. Well, it's not the most ridiculous lure I've ever seen. Has anybody ever seen one of these dragonfly lures on a fake lily pad? Called a Hoverlure.
  20. Lol. I'm still trying to figure out the bag of BBs!
  21. Oooooooooo! I'm getting one!!! NOT!
  22. Uh....... can I come too? ? JK. I'm too far away. Sounds like fun tho!
  23. Shimano gets my vote too. I bought an Abu Revo S when they first came out. That reel crapped out after 2 seasons. I had 3 or 4 Shimanos I bought the season before that lasted another 2 seasons beyond that Revo before they needed any kind of maintenance.
