  1. It's an old British comedy variety type show. It's pretty funny. Benny Hill was the comedian.

I've thought about trying to throw it with spinning gear, but didn't get around to it. I'll give that a shot this spring & summer. What you're talking about is the main reason I bought one. I fish a pond in my neighborhood with a lot of small bream. Thought this might match the hatch well. Plus, I figured for only $5 where's the harm in trying it.
  3. I usually rig the 7" magnum fluke on a 6/0 EWG Gamakatsu hook, I think it's a superline hook so it's heavier. That should give you a little extra weight if you're wanting to fish them a little deeper. I mostly use them shallow in the spring when the big females are moving up to spawn. If you used these hooks be careful tho. Sometimes there's a gap in the eyelet. I've learned the hard way that 30 lb braid will slip thru that gap & you can lose a fish. To remedy this, you can tie a thick knot of mono or fluoro line on the eye & cut both ends off. Then slide the knot over to fill that gap. I've heard of others using superglue or using both the knot & superglue. I usually fish 5" super flukes with a weightless 5/0 EWG Gammy hook. But I've used a 1/16 or 1/8 oz weighted hook a few times to fish in deeper water. Seemed to work & still caught fish.

Sorry for your loss. I'm 50 and still fortunate to have both parents & a stepmom. We did lose my father-in-law last yr who lived a pretty full life to the age of 78. Still hurts like heck, and we miss him a lot. Especially my wife. It'll get better I promise. But there will always be a void left from the loss. Thoughts & prayers.

I think somebody else mentioned using a short shank hook and it helped. Or maybe they said they just took the rear treble off. Its always been one of my beefs with jointed hard-bodied swimbaits - I just can't get em to cast well. They sure do look good swimming in the water tho. Could be the heavier, larger ones cast better.

I bought one of those a few months ago. Only fished it a few times in the fall, but didn't get a bite. Couple of things I didn't like: it doesn't cast that well - has a tendency to helicopter while in mid air so casting distance is limited. But this is true for other jointed swimbaits I have. Also, occasionally the rear treble hook will get caught in the back joints and reduce the swimming action. But I will say when it's working correctly it has a nice swimming action.
  7. Well, I think everyone can agree that his scales were definitely broken. No way that fish weighs only 2 lbs.

I'd say the best 2 teams in the country are playing each other for the NC. All the rest really doesn't matter.
  9. Yeah, I've done that before but really don't have the patience, lol. You gotta spool the used braid onto something else, then spool back onto the reel. I like using my spooling station too much. Plus, by the time I get around to changing the braid, I've usually retied so many times that there really isn't enough line left that it's worth the effort to respool in the opposite direction. It won't fill the spool up enough.
  10. I'm not sure Kiffin is even qualified to coach at the college level. ? And apparently he has a hard time making it to the team buses on time. ????
  11. @snake95 Just experiment & try a few different things. The 1/16 - 1/8 oz seem to work best for me in shallower water. I use the 1/16 oz about 90% of the time & only go with the 1/8 oz if it gets windy. The smaller weights come thru limited cover better too. The heavier weights tend to get snagged on stumps & I'll have to break off. Shakey heads just just don't work great in too much cover. T rig is much better in that case. Good luck.
  12. Well, to be honest I've only been using shakey heads for the last 3 yrs. I just kinda started experimenting and trying different things on my own. My neighborhood pond gets a fair amount of pressure & sometimes it's hard to get a bite. Also, it have very, very little cover or structure. I figured the shakey head might work even tho it's not the perfect senario for this presentation, so to speak, with a soft bottom. So far it's worked pretty well. I started using the owner shakey heads bc I like their hooks with the centering pin & the bigger hook works well for larger baits. Plus, their available at my local Academy Sports. The Picasso Shakedowns I bought on clearence somewhere - smaller hook that works better on finesse and trick works. I've also had luck using some Luck E Strike shakey jig heads. They're available at my local Bass Pro. They also have a bigger hook than most shakey jigs & have a nice slender head that comes thru a little bit of cover better.
  13. I use shakey heads in my neighborhood pond & sometimes they work fairly well. It's a softer bottom pond with silt & it gets a little muddy at times. When it's like that, I use really dark colored worms & craws that have slightly bigger profiles. I like using Zoom ultra vibe speed worms & the magnum ultra vibe speed craws. It's pretty shallow so I use 1/16 - 1/8 oz shakey heads. Owner makes a pretty good one with their centering pin spring & it's got a decent sized hook for bigger baits. I've even used Zoom magnum trick worms with the owners. I've also had good luck using the Picasso Shakedown jig.
  14. I agree with everybody else. I have 1 Curado G. It's ok, but the newer I series Curado is much nicer. I have 2 of them. Heck, I like my older E series curados better than my G series.

As others, I only change if the bait doesn't come with sharp hooks already. I use a lot of Baby 1 minus baits. Great bait, but horrible/cheap hooks. I like owner & gammy trebles. I like the short shanks sometimes because they will keep the front and back trebles from tangling with some baits. Also, sometimes the front treble will catch on the lip of shallow divers. Again, short shanks help with that. Plus, AS just had a bunch of Gammy short shanks on sale. They might still be marked down.
  16. I used to have same problem when I first started using braid. But then I started filling my spool about half way with super cheap mono, then rest of the way with braid. That solved the problem for me. I'm surprised you doing the same didn't help with your issues. I use mostly 30 lb power pro & spool all my baitcasters with the same exact Berkley spooling station that Glenn is using in today's video about spooling braided line. It's worked great for me the last 10 yrs. The added benefit is that in about a year when the braid has faded & needs to be changed, I'm not losing so much expensive braid, so money saved. Not sure if if this helps any, but good luck.
  17. Wow. I fish a lake occasionally that has a bald eagle's nest. I've actually seen one swoop down & fly away with about a 2 lb bass in its claw. Pretty amazing sight.
  18. Wow! Nice day on the water. Making me jealous.
  19. Big fan of Invizx! Only fluoro I use now.
  20. I find it humorous as well that the Big10 was touted so highly by all the college football experts and their conference bowl record is horrible. ACC seems to be king of the hill this year.
  21. Awesome!!!
  22. Dang, you fish long enough like me, and you get quite a few of these stories. I hooked a big water moccasin once when I was young. I was fishing with a live minnow & a cork right at dusk. Cork went under & I set the hook on the ole Zebco 33. Reeled it in & that snake scared the poo outta me. I dropped the rod & ran back about 30 ft. Luckily, the moccasin got off & slithered back into the water. Also had a baby gator jump up and snap at a frog I was fishing once. Another time, I had an egret swoop down & pick up the Spro frog I was fishing. It flew up about 20 ft before I kinda snatched back a little and my frog plopped back down into the water. I had to reel it back in real fast as it tried to swoop down & take it again.
