Simple, go to Hunting Run Lake, rent a boat/motor, go downlake to where the houses on the left are and start fishing the shoreline in front of them on around into the cove behind them. Use a weedless wacky rigged finesse worm. Be patient and you will get your string stretched.

I agree with the others. 30# is my line choice too and I may go down to 20# for ultra-light.

Yes, skunked_again the SI transducers do need protecting, they are expensive. Do you use a dual beam shoot-thru with the SI unit for on-plane use or use another sonar unit for that purpose?

skunked_again, you installation will not work when on plane. The transducer has to be in the water. The correct installation is the seam on the sides of the transducer should be even with the bottom of the hull which means that the bottom of the transducer is below the hull about 1/2". The best installation is a shoot-thru either with the skimmer or a puck style transducer. The shoot thru with skimmer installation is in your manual.

The switch is not listed as a option for that model on the LEI Extras site. If you want to change the connections often, use some di-electric grease on the plugs to lessen the effort and reduce the chance of damaging the pins on the unit plug receptacle.

The Eagle has twice the power of the Garmin and that will be better for bottom composition and showing fish. You don't need a transducer adaptor mount. A tm transducer won't cost you any extra, just exchange it for the puck style (do not open the package with the included transducer and mount parts that come with the unit). LEI Extras is the place for the exchange.

I'll give you the same answer you got on the other site: It's not out yet,. It was due to be marketed around the middle of March. I talked to a Motor Guide service company a couple of weeks ago and they said that the release date has been delayed due to "issues" at the factory. There is no release date as of now.

No necessarily, a lighter set drag works as well (maybe better). A lesser aggressive hook set is the best option.

Braid is the answer. The loops coming off the spool are smaller than any mono which allows for less friction getting thru the first rod guide. 20# braid has a mono diameter equivelent of 6#. Fill the spool to within 1/8" of the lip. A smaller diameter braid will cast even farther. The KVD spray will add even more distance.

Get some Mend-It soft bait glue and you can repair the torn Senkos

Since your question involves fallen timber and grass beds, a minimum of 30# braid or 20# mono ( nylon or fluorocarbon ) would be my suggestion. A lesser pound test rated CXX is OK too since it is way underrated for it's actual breaking strength.

Dock Master, Zoom plastics will not dry out and deform. Their pliability is related to temperature. I have partially used packages of some Zoom baits that are 10+ years old and they have the same consistancy as new ones.

The strength of the Octopus hooks along with the short shank is why I use them for wacky rigging. I use the 2/0 and 3/0.

Today I saw lots of carp on the surface where the water is 6'-12' deep where the weeds are almost on the surface. I think angler input was one of the reasons the carp were introduced. It certainly is better than chemicals to control the growth/spread. The many years before the vegetation arrived, the fishing was great, it is/was great with the vegetaton, and it will be after some of it is gone. I've been fishing there since Jan 1989 and the vegetation just created another pattern. My catch rate this year is pretty much the same as it has been since the mid 1990's. I caught 66 bass today.
