You will probably land more bass going barbless as the barb may prevent good hook penetration especially on long casts with nylon mono and fluorocarbon lines. Lack of hook penetration is the cause of most "jump-offs.

I use fluorocarbon leaders for weight to make braid sink when using weightless Finesse and Trick worm presentations. I also use all fluorocarbon for Senkos and Super Flukes. As for how far a Fluke will sink, it depends on how patient you are. I regularly fish them deeper than 10' on braid with no weight or leader-a Super Line hook is plenty of weight if you are patient.

I was in Aquia yesterday and today and yes there are bass in that creek and at least 1/2 way in the 2.3 mile NO WAKE ZONE. The biggest ones I saw were 6.27# and 5.6# with lots of sub 15" ones.

You must have gotten a bad batch as it was being discontinued. I've been using the Stren Super Braid since it was first introduced and all I've used held it's color longer than any other colored superline I have used. I have some 5 year old gold color on a couple of highly used rigs that is still gold color but somewhat dirty. I've never had any of the green fade to white either. I have experimented with coloring the gold line with soft bait dye in the red color and the red will wash off/fade and it returns to the gold color.

I don't like it. It is too much like Power Pro and Suffix, I much preferred Stren Super Braid as it has a smoother finish. I'm glad I purchased several hundred yards of the Super Braid before it was all sold out. I'll wait for a Stren brand to have an equivelent to Daiwa Samurai or a less stiff Fireline Braid before I make any more superline purchases.

jb, the hydro foil on your boat is not deformed, it is made that way to minimize water contact for WOT operation especially in a turn. I used one a few years ago on a bass boat with a GT150 to help reduce transom drop and get on plane quick for shallow tidal water areas.

I use a medium heavy action spinning rod with 30# braid for flipping lightweight presentations into heavy cover-timber, hydrilla, and pads. Saying that a spinning rod is not designed for it is incorrect, what is a medium heavy or heavy action spinning rod designed for-dropshotting with 4# line?

The Eagle line of electronics is a less expensive, less power, and less feature packed model made by the same company as Lowrance. It has a background map included, and is compatable with some mapping software for contours. No, you don't have to have additional software to use the GPS feature. They don't have the networking capability like Lowrance units do but most featurers are comparable. That model has one of the highest resolution screens available. In the auto world, it's a Chevy compared to a Cadillac.

I have done the inside the blank weighting and prefer the exterior butt addition as it gets keeps the fulcrum more towards the butt and takes less weight.

I have the H2O and didn't purchase the H2Oc because I already have a color sonar/gps on my boat so the monochrome suited my needs at less cost. The H2Oc does have a higher resolution screen which may or may not be a plus. Even though I use Navionics and Lowrance mapping software in it, the waypoints and tracks are the most important use for me as the screen is too small for beneficial contour line viewing.

The longest ones I have is the Netbait Super T-Mac which is 9 inches in length.

I have some custom rods that were balanced to my specifications when I ordered them. Otherwise BigBassGuy is correct. I do most of my balancing using a correct size plastic chair tip with a mashed lead egg sinker inserted. I also have some of the BPS accessory balancers and some BPS rods that are equipped with the balancing system.

If you are expecting to be able to have the motor run without your foot on the pedal, it ain't happening. There is no way to add steering friction to keep the motor from changing directions as they steer easily. I had 4 of those motors and am very familiar with their operation. You can add a constant ON toggle switch parallel with the toggle under the red button if you really want to---that toggle switch is a momentary function. The actual OFF position is the "O" on the 3 speed selection wheel. edited--- Get a pro pole to reduce the fatigue and enjoy that motor while it lasts. Nobody makes a good, quiet motor like that anymore.

Weight is added to the butt of a rod to lessen the effort it takes to hold the tip up. It reduces arm muscle strain. With the right balance, detecting a bite using jigs, and soft plastics is enhanced. When I balance mine, even though I add weight, the rod feels lighter. In some cases as I hold it with no lure tied on, the rod tip rises when held lightly. A good quality rod built with a light weight blank and light weight guides, minimum handle hardware, with minimum finish will need little or no balancing.

Which brands of mono line float? I'm interested in trying some. I just tested 8 different lines with some being a co-polymer and when the surface tension is broken, they all sank. Fluorocarbon does the same thing but sinks faster. Is this another myth like floating worms?

At Chris Green, if you fish the shoreline point between the beach and dog lot, check yourself for ticks often. You will enjoy that hill from the parking area to the lake at Ragged Mt. , LOL

A high pressure with falling water temps to below spawning temps will back them off, but if the water temps remain in the low 60's or above they don't leave. I've been fishing the last few days with high pressure and abnormally high air temps and the spawn is going on pretty strong. The pollen has been the only problem with sight fishing. I saw a picture of an Elite pro at Smith Mountain Lake using liquid dish detergent to disperse the surface pollen, tried it, and it works. I used about a 50% mix with water to get it to work with a spray bottle. I've been catching them with spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits, Senko's fished like jerkbaits, and wacky rigged Trick and finesse worms.

For hook styles, I won't use a Kahle style whether is a wireguard weedless hook jig type, or plain hook for bass fishing. The hook point positioned in line with the hook eye will cause missed hooksets. The Owner Weedless Wacky hook is a much better hook design than the Kahle.
