Everything else should be powered thru an on/off switch either remotely or internal unless you have a Lowrance GPS unit and haven't installed a diaconnect switch on the antenna power cable. I don't know of anyone that disconnects the accessory/starting battery when charging. edited: another note, you will have to make an adapter for the circuit breaker connection to the battery or purchase one made for that purpose. It is just a piece of flat metal with a small hole in one end to fit the breaker bolt and a larger hole in the other end to fit the battery post. Use copper if you can. You'll need to adapt the motor cable to fit the other side of the breaker too. The breaker is about the size of your thumb's second joint.

drmnbig, I use a 2/0 Gammy Octopus hook or 2/0 Owner Mosquito hook for the finesse worm and a 3/0 Gammy Octopus hook for the Trick worm. Rig them weedless. A very good presentation at Anna especially around docks and rip rap.

SKEETER369, since neither lake is in Florida, I would guess the answer is no.

I use the same knot as when adding a leader- a uni-uni knot with six turns on both sides. No slipping, go glue, no problems. I also use the same knot for other type line connections

I use a wacky rigged finesse or Trick worm for about 80% of my catches. All the bass over 9# I have caught have been with a weedless wacky rigged finesse worm. No only does it produce big bass, it produces lots of bass. Everywhere I have fished, the wacky rig has been the most successful presentation. I use the worms unweighted for depths less than 5', lightly weighted with a size 3d steel finishing nail for depths to 10', and weighted with a Lunker City nail for depths deeper than 10' and so far as deep as 30'. Rarely do I use any other baits when wacky rigging as Trick or finesse worms work so well, there is no need to use anything else. I cast, skip, pitch, and flip them.

Yep, that is what you need or one just like it with automatic reset. Unplug you trolling motor while charging or disconnect one of the motor leads depending on how yours is wired. It is just a safety precaution in case the charger develops a problem so there will be no complete electric circuit to the battery thru the trolling motor.

A 20# braid. Most 20# braids have a 6# mono equivalent diameter.

You have to use a slow cure Epoxy and mix it slowly to avoid bubbles. After you mix the two parts, put a glob on the face of the transducer and press it in place in a twisting motion to get most of the epoxy from between the hull and transducer. You want the boat hull to vibrate the same amount as the transducer face without some of the vibration being absorbed by the epoxy or air/chemical bubbles in the epoxy.

A fluorocarbon leader on braid will put a lot of drag on the lure because the fluorocarbon is dense and will sink. You are negating the floating characteristic of braid. The legs of the frog are probably larger than the diameter of the braid and you don't expect that to scare away a bass, so why should fishing line do it?

You have a 24V battery? You certainly don't want to connect any 12V accessories to it.

Look for a good deal on a used aluminum bass boat that already has most/all of what you want. You may only have to replace the carpet and fix up the trailer some and may be cheaper than a new large jon boat with the expense/time of putting all the stuff you want in it.

I have fished it a few times, but I have the most success in Lizzie and Trout Lakes of that chain.

The catching is picking up. I saw some 60 degree water this afternoon with bass and carp in the depths less than 3'. The Chatterbait was the most productive presentation working it just under the surface.

According to the Norcross web site, the transducer is connected via a 35 foot cable. The Humminbird is wireless. It looks like the Norcross has better features if you want to be restricted to the readings within the cable length. If your pond is no more than 70 feet wide at any point, the Norcross would be the best choice.

Sam, I saw some 54 degree water in several places at Gaston last Saturday. Three of them were on the North side of the lake and one was on the South side. The highest water temp I have seen this year other than Anna Hot side was 57 degrees at Briery Creek this week. Al Gore is full of it. There is a climate shift but no global warming. The South Pole is colder and the ice sheet is larger than the recent past. That is why the ocean water level has not risen due to the Artic ice melting and Northern Hemisphere glaciers melting. The actual overall global temp is lower by a couple of degrees in the past 5 or so years.

I agree about the high vibration lures, add a Chatterbait or similar lure to your arsenal. It will put out more vibration than any other lure.

Yes, use a higher pound test braid. Most 20# test braids are the same diameter as 6# test mono. Lubing it will not solve your backlash problem, a larger diameter may.

flechero is correct, the line capacities are for volume only and refers to the amount of a certain pound test line diameter that the spool will hold. Some brands of reels have the line diameter indicated with the amount and some include the related pound test of mono also.

Another slow catching day even though the water temp got up to 57 degrees this afternoon and started out at 51 degrees. Only caught them on a Rat-L-Trap and weedless wacky rigged Trick worm.
