National Beer Can Appreciation Day!
I'm not sure about the salt on soft plastics but, on the lip of a beer can it rocks! Anyone else a fan of the salted beer? I know a lot of us here in NC are pretty adamant about salting our beer cans.

National Beer Can Appreciation Day!
The first canned beer was sold today in 1935. I for one will be celebrating this marvelous milestone for beer....that is starting after 5p > Stupid work. Anyways, happy celebrating and be safe!

The marvelous Chatterbait?
I bought one last year and caught a nice 2lb bass in the first day of use. These are not the best thing since sliced bread but, they are effective. I do think these are good lures to keep in your tackle box. You can fish them like a spinner, like a crank, like a jerk bait. Try 'em, you'll like 'em, but you won't fall in love with them. And I believe the bait monkey is almost forcing them on people right now as you can get the kits with 4 chatters and a bunch of skirts & trailers for $20 at Dick's and BPS (and many more stores I'm sure). That's a great deal considering the one I bought last year was $6 or $7 by itself. I don't swear by them; they're just something different to add to the arsenal.

Drawbacks of EWG hooks?
I was just wondering if there are any circumstances where an EWG hook would be disadvantageous. Especially when fishing worms. Thank you all for the feedback!

Anyone else have a "redneck aquarium"?
They are in fact in the ciclid family. They got tagged as bass by guides trying to grow their business. "You call it a bass and every bass fisherman in the world will want to come down and try their luck," I think that was the idea...I think it worked. I think the peacock part comes from the spot on the tail or the color? maybe both. It still blows my mind when I see those itty bitty ciclids at the pet store and I try to relate them to the peacock.

what holds your tackle?..
Reading through this post I saw my very own tackle bags in other folks pictures. I have the same black & blue Plano bag as Alpster in which I keep my favorites. For $15 it'll do, I have another one just like that from BPS for $10 that holds my "tier 2" lures. To complete my storage I have the same free BASS bag shown by NEBassman; that's where I keep all of my plastics in original bags or ziplocks if need be.

Reds hooks vrs Normal color
I think it really comes down to personal preference. Use whatever color hook you feel most confident with. I personally have used red hooks with much success in all conditions because I have confidence in them. I have also used black hooks and the "normal" colored hooks with success. So, I really believe there is no correct situation for the red hooks. It's just about having confidence in what your throwing.

Falcon original.
that's the kind of feedback i was hoping to get. I knew that i was getting the low end when i picked that one. I figured if i liked the original then i could trust the brand overall. Also, my wife has no concept of how much money can really be spent on a rod so convincing her to let me spend $75 on any rod was quite an accomplishment. I can't wait to put this rod to the test.

Falcon original.
I just purchased a Falcon Original spinning rod for $75 ( 6'6", med. 1pc.). This is my first Falcon ( and my most expensive rod, plz don't laugh) and I wanted to know what my fellow BR.commers think of this brand; specifically my choice of Falcon rods above. I will be using this to throw smaller crankbaits, topwater plugs, and maybe an occassional jig. Did I get the right rod for the money?

Where Would Your Dream Fishing Trip Take You?
Having been to Brazil, I can tell you from firsthand experience that Gonzaga, although good, pales in comparison to Ze Bodo, the guide that my dad and I had in Brazil.

New bass fishing TV show
I set my DVR to record this show this morning. Glad to know this show will be more informative than anything. I always want to know more about the techniques being used on most fishing shows yet they normally just catch fish and plug a product.

Where Would Your Dream Fishing Trip Take You?
2 places- Lake Dixon, CA in an attempt to catch that 25 lb + LMB that Mac Weackley let go last year. After taking a shot there my next stop would be the Rio ***** in Brazil to catch some peacocks. I want Gonzaga to be my guide. Did anyone watch Record Hunters on ESPN Outdoors. This guy jumped in the river and swam over to untangle a peacock that had wrapped around a submerged tree.

I need a line for topwaters and big spinnerbaits?
I've used Trilene XL in the past but, I was unhappy with it. It wasn't durable enough to make it through the day. I was using 8lb so that may have been the problem. I made the swith to Stren Original 10lb for my topwater plugs (rebel pop'r mostly) and have not cursed my line once since the switch. For the buzz baits (and the occassional Magnum Torpedo or Lucky 13) I use Stren DuraTuf 12lb. I haven't had any problems with wear on either of these lines. That's just what works for me though.

Your one best technique
My wife picked the most productive lure in my box because it was pretty. It is a g-fleck/rainbow (pink & green) rebel pop'r. I fish it with a 2 pop pause, 1 pop cadence. My five biggest fish have come on this "pretty" lure. I consider it my best.
