  1. Welcome to the forum! Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12 The Hybrid is a copolymer. Its my personal favorite. I wouldn't call braid overkill. There's a time & place for braid in Bass fishing.
  2. I would lean more towards the Daiwa/Bionic Blade combo. I'm biased though. Check this combo at Cabela's http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/standard-pod-wrapped.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/pod-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20285&rid=&indexId=cat20285&navAction=push&masterpathid=&navCount=1&parentType=index&parentId=cat20285&id=0043411 I might grab one of these myself.
  3. 4ish. great looking fish!
  4. You said it Lightninrod. I've caught every 5lber in that pond on every other type of lure I own. Pull out a jig and the really big boys come out to play. Jigs are really tough for me though; patience issues. I new there were some big fish in this pond. Some little voice in my head told me there was a hawg swimming around today looking for a black & blue jig with a matching super chunk jr. trailer. Thanks to everyone for taking a look and leaving a comment.
  5. You guys had better believe I fished that setup for the rest of the morning. Oh, BTW, that's a new PB for me. My previous PB was 6.
  6. Went out this morning to my honey hole and decided to challenge myself by fishing a jig. I had never previously caught a fish on a jig. I'm glad I gave it a try! That's an 8lb pay off.
  7. Pop-R in gold fleck/rainbow White buzzbait (strike king elite)
  8. I don't know the history of this subdivision but, I do know that in my area many subdivisions are put up on old farm land. So the pond may be alot older than the subdivision and may have had fish in for many, many years.
  9. I would definitely give it a whirl.
  10. Try this one. I use this one all the time and love it. Plenty of power and control. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90860_100003001_100000000_100003000_100-3-1
  11. You could try the trick worm on a shakey head.
  12. I've been using the YoZuri hybrid #12 on my baitcasters and don't think twice about putting the pressure on a fish. The stuff is really strong. Haven't seen very much abrasion or wear on the line either.
  13. It's not a problem, I can't stop anytime I want!
  14. These are best when bass are on or close to the bottom. The underspin allows the bass to see the flash overhead. Just like a spinnerbait, you have to figure out how the bass wants you to retrieve it on any given day.
  15. If you mean the one that floats with the propeller on the rear that's a torpedo. Heddon makes those. That was the lure that got me addicted to bass fishing. You should definitley get a few of those in various colors and sizes too.
  16. Amen to that brother. For me about $200 at BPS. She'll never forget, I believe my wife has a running tally and knows what my tackle is collectively worth at any given moment.
  17. Willonpill, You'll soon find out that you'll never have enough money to satisfy the bait monkey. Everytime I think I have everything and anything I want I find out that there's alot more that I can't do without.
  18. Man, you are in bad need of some poprs! If you're fishing in a pond you really need some beetle spins too. Maybe some spinnerbaits, a rapala floating minnow. Grab some purple ribbontail worms in 7.5". You have a real bait monkey attack coming your way. Start saving now!
  19. WM you're not obsessed, you're dedicated! I try to get abot 8-10 hours a week if I can. Every minute is worth it, catching or just fishing.
  20. Got a Cabela's Tourney Trail IM7 6' with an Abu Cardinal 502 for around $90. I does the job quite well. Though above 6' in length the rods are all 2pcs for this combo:'(.
  21. I couldn't agree more. I lost 3 fish in a row because of their small hooks. Tied on my Rebel Pop'r and no more lost fish. After I bought new hooks for the Matzuo poppers I had no more problems. The patterns colors available are great.
  22. throw gold blades with the clouds
  23. The Inferno was never priced at $100. It just showed up at Dick's one day priced at $50 with a BS markdown. I looked at it and it is a Dick's exclusive. When I asked the the fishing "specialist" what the gear ratio was (not on the box) he told me that it must be 6.3:1 because it has 10 bearings. I almost told him right there he needed to start looking for a new job. Also, when I asked him if he had ever used it he said no with this tone in his voice like "are you kidding me, that thing is a piece." Needless to say, I didn't buy anything after talking to that fool. I went home and clicked on the Cabela's ad on BassResource.com and placed my order.
