Another huge fan of the Mega 8 right here! I was sad to not see it anymore as well. I have the 9 strand braid and while not as smooth feeling....it hasnt let me down.

Supply and demand at its' purest form. If they are not available they are probably already sold out. Bad for someone wanting a rod now and good for their business. It would be nice to see a healthy amount of stock.

I think the WhiteMax would be a great reel for cranking in the "under 50$ range." However, I like utility and a higher gear ratio can simply be slowed down while cranking and offer you multiple applications.

I would also check your line guides. If they are chipped or cracked then that could be causing friction. Trust me, it has happened to me plenty of times

I started using PP Super Slick. Great braid but expensive. I researched KastKing and got some of their SuperPower braid. It was a good start. My favorite braid by them is actually not being made anymore, Mega 8.

Been there done that too! You learn to carefully remove everything lol.

The new KastKing Perigee II rods are less than $60. I picked up three of them. I also still have my first gen Perigee rods. I am all about catching fish on affordable gear. More fun IMO. Plus I dont have to worry too much about it

Sounds like they might have died due to the trauma of being put on a stringer, transported, weighed, then released at a different location. They also could have gotten just a tad smarter from that experience I am no expert but that seems like common sense to me. Hopefully it gets better. How big of a BOW?

Very nice. I was just throwing a 6.75" worm the other day and to most that isn't big. However, it was a fatter version and was 2" bigger than I normally throw. Grande Bass Rattlesnake 4.75" vs. 6.75" the weight difference alone was huge. Still, I have yet to cath a fish on these bigger baits, even the fad baits such as the suicide duck and rat.

I second KastKing braid. It has been good for me. I don't know about the new 9 strand braid they are coming out with, sounds a bit overkill.
