  1. Which stick did you pick? I have the 7'4 and people really complained about it being too tip heavy but I think a MH glass composite used for tip down techniques doesn't really matter. Either way I'm a daiwa man though and through, until my megabass rod shows up in a couple weeks and all bets are off
  2. What lakes are open in southeast Nh if any right now. I live in raymond nh and need to get some practice in before my trail starts in tr he end of april
  3. Hey guys, any good Smallie holes in Middlesex county. I want to knock some rust off before my tournament trail starts in late April. It is still pretty ice heavy for my jon boat in NH. Really looking for both deep and shallow lakes, ponds and res no rivers as my club doesn't fish them Thanks Ken
  4. I had the 7'2 light M1 and the thing was great. Plus it held up to a 20lb drum in a tournament on Champlain last year. That was 20min lost lol But yes it is a big help. If I end up on love with it I may buy a few more seriously the price is pretty awesome at 250
  5. I loved my Phenix M1 it was my favorite finesse rod I have ever held until my 7'6 Feider AGS diawa arrived. So I am looking forward to the megabass and I hope it is even more sensitive then the Phenix a I pray it pairs with the ci4 with our need of counter weight for balance. Tackletrap.com is seriously killing me(in a good way) they have so many JDM and other custom gear it's ridiculous.
  6. This is a tough one . I would suggest go look at anything in your price range glass or aluminium. When you say asap I would really look at them and make 100% the boat fits your needs because if you spend good money and your not fully happy it ruins the whole experience. I wish you the best of luck and my recommendations would be the G3 eagle boats
  7. I will always say to each ones own. But on long casts when slack is used in your line for action I would strongly suggest braid for the simple fact it does not stretch. And to also help on the not buying other rods or pulling line off to switch. I would use braid as the main line. Then when using other lures like crankbaits or other moving baits that need stretch tie on your flurocarbon leader. Just some thoughts
  8. Well I prefer a 7'4 for my frog and a 7'6 for punching. If you sneak a bit outside height diawa tatula XT has a couple in your price range. I own 7 diawa rods and the quality of them is amazing. Got to tacklewarehouse and take a peak you will not be disappointed
  9. Well after more and more research I found a local person to buy my Phenix M1. Then I spent a few hours studying and the JDM XXX orochi has the same blank as the upcoming US XX model. Different reel seat, but the spinning seat looks great. The guides I couldn't get a great gauge on I wish they were carbon AGS guides but they look like SiC fuji. So I will keep everyone posted I had to buy the F3-610KS jadepython and plan on pairing it with my latest 2500ci4+
  10. Like everyone is saying, the transition is on from the deep holes to shallows. I really like and echo what Dwight said look on your down scans and structure finders and look for hard rock bottom with sparse grass or sand with random boulders. These areas will hold some fish. Another thing I look for is tight depth lines on the maps near channel swings. The more stacked the depth lines are the easier the transition is. Temp is also key to what to throw. When your in the upper 30s to low 40s your practically not moving a bait. And your size matters. Small is better IMO. As the temp warms mid 40s to low 50s you can start moving a bit more jigs and craws can have a bigger presentaion. I'm from NH and we have some of the coldest and clearest natural waters and I have had the best luck in the early going with very small minow, shad baits on either a dimiki rig or drop shot just above the smallies head since they do prefer to eat up When they are suspended. If the fish are lying on the bottom and appear to look like rocks I like either a swing head or small football jig with a trimmed skirt and light color craw or small neko rig.
  11. There is a theory that you may want to match the background. From a boat same thing bluebird days light blues and whites but I think it would be so minimum of a difference. I guess if it was a high maintenance girl on her bed you may want to rollup in some nice duds, maybe a Rolex on your wrist offer her a coach bag . Wait we are talking about fish lol I guess a vision 110 or a deps bait could be like a Louis Vuitton and a smithwick rogue is like a 9west. It's all preference if you ask me. I'm kinda superstitious and i have to wear the same brand shorts, shirts and flip flops or shoes.
  12. Yeah the Xx is still preorder. The new xxx is the same blank as it's American counter part. Which is gorgeous. The Phenix M1 blank and reel seat are amazing for the price and not to mention lifetime warranty. I just feel like the guides are not rigid enough and you lose some sensitivity. See what happens after you use a Daiwa AGS rod. Thanks for the Kistler option and I thought the sale on their page was over. I have some homework now and will check out some more rods
  13. I was going to get the Ehler AGS but I don't like a flat out medium/fast for a drop shot. Now if it was the same action as the Feider neko rig rod I would have already bought it. So what Rod would you recommend in the megabass line or similar price point of 250
  14. So here is my dilemma, I have a terrible case of the expensive bait monkey you could say. I currently have a 7'2 light/ fast action which is more like a medium light fast Phenix M1. This is my drop shot rod. Here is where the dilemma comes in, tackle trap which is slowly becoming my favorite site for some custom/ jdm equipment wants. They have a large assortment of Megabass rods and one caught my eye. The new Orochi xXx jdm F3-610KS jadepython. My question before I fully submit to the bait monkey is, has anyone used a JDM Orochi xxx and how does it compare to My Current drop shot rod?
  15. Too bad for sure. One good thing is I will never take a fish .im strictly catch and relese
  16. Rod came back and it is perfect! All eyes line up and he used a fuji sic guide
  17. With these freakin nor'easters I think I'm a few weeks off again. There is a place in Ayer right near a set of train tracks I'm almost positive it's called plowshop.but it has produced some monsters. I also want to get on the concord river near Bedford where I grew up too.
  18. Here is my team Ehrler Wheeler Faircloth Pirch Hartman I just don't think Ashley will repeat. And I have a gut feeling the grass king faircloth is due.
  19. I think a sweet daiwa AGS will do the trick.
  20. I used to fish all the little ponds there when I was younger with my dad. Great fish and congrats on it being early March. Now that I know it's open water in Middlesex county I am going to have to make a trip to some of my honey holes
  21. Well then consensus has it your the second person who said that Joe from there is the guy. I will make an appointment there before this season gets going
  22. I was wondering if anybody knows of a place near me in southern new Hampshire to repair and or upgrade some guides on my crankbait rod. Thanks for the help in advanced
  23. Agree the new LT is amazing small and so freakin light. I have a new ci4 as well and I'm thinking of selling it for a tatula
  24. I spooled with 10lb spectra braid and the spool was 90%full and I still have about 50yrds left out of my 150yrd spool. So I would say there like capacity is off
