Bass fishing in Colorado?
I’m from Denver. Check out Lowell Ponds and Rocky Mountain Arsenal. Bluegills are the main forage. Think 4” senkos (GP w/ Blck Flk) wacky-rigged. You will catch LMB on that rig. Concentrate on the reed shores For smallies, fish the riprap at Chatfield. They like SK 2.5 in red chili craw. Slip bobber rig with Gulp AliVe Minnows will catch smallies and nice walleyes too!

Weedless Wacky Hook: Missing Fish
Thanks guys! I’ll cut the wire guards off and use them in open water. I’ll try the fusions out because that Fluoro guard seems more forgiving. I’ve rediscovered the magic of throwing wacky rigged sticks worms in cover. It’s so action packed

Weedless Wacky Hook: Missing Fish
I do that with a regular wacky hook, reel quickly and gently lift the rod tip up, like I would with a circle hook. It just seems like I change up my hookset technique whenever I have a weedless guard. They don’t stick easily

Weedless Wacky Hook: Missing Fish
Using a 2/0 VMC weedless wacky hook and I’ve been missing A LOT of fish on the hook set. I’m setting the hook like I would on a Texas-rigged set up so what am I doing wrong? Before all of this algae and weed growth, I was using a regular wacky rig and nailing them this year. Went to a weedless wacky hook and I’m striking out. Thanks Also, I know what pan fish feel like and these are definitely green bass bites. This honey hole has average 2#-4# LMB. I’m waiting a couple seconds too

Plastics for Crappie
If you’re using a bobber, look no further than these two options. The Atomic Tubes are already pre-rugged on 1/32 jig heads. Those 1” Gulp minnows work wonders nose hooked on the lightest hook you can find, like the ones @QUAKEnSHAKE posted. You want that excruciatingly slow fall when bobber fishing. Crappie love that

Wax worms for trout?
I used to fish stocked trout ponds and using a bobber with a very small mosquito hook or a Trout Magnet hook (no split shots to create that slow fall once it hits the water) tied one foot from the bobber. That set up killed it during the evenings when they were rising. You can get a box of 50 from a pets store fairly cheap and they last longer than earthworms i inadvertently caught a lot of crappie and bluegills too, which mixed it up a bit. Check out those Trout Magnet jig hooks. Super tiny, strong, and extremely sharp! Very underrated

Grassy, algae, clear water? What’s your advice?
That brings up another good point. If you strictly want to use power techniques, a bluegill colored swim jig with a Green Pumpkin paddle tail swam along the edges of vegetation draws some violent strikes often. The weed-guards on swim jigs makes them more user friendly in these situations

Grassy, algae, clear water? What’s your advice?
Fished a pond today that exactly matched the conditions you described. Weed less wacky rigged stick bait was lethal today throw it to the edges (sides, in front, and behind) those pods of floating weeds/algae. Heavy emphasis on going weightless though to because you want that slow, undulating fall to occur smack up against those canopies where they’re stalking prey

Son caught a decent Bluegill
Took my boy fishing for bluegills. Classic bobber and mealworms did the trick. Bonus: I always have a stick worm wacky rigged for the bass that cruise scaring away all the gills that my son is trying to catch. This one couldn’t resist the fall of the GP/Watermelon Maxscent General.
