I second what Little_Stephen said about the CUTE girls. It always happens to me at lakes. Like this weekend, there was SMOKIN HOT girls runnin around, all day. There was these couple that kept followin me though. I would loose concentration and get hung in a bush or somethin like that, but other than that, it was awesome. I did get to talk to a few though, cause, ya know, chicks dig boys on nice boats. Thats what she said anyhow. I better quit before I get carried away.

I've been fishin the river lately. Only having sucess on senkos and tubes, even into dark. I tried a crankbait the last few times out, without even a hit, but i didn't think to try it at night. I did last night!!! I tied on one of my most reliable crankbaits, a Rebel Wee-r in the brown orange pattern. I started throwin it at around 9 p.m. and on the second cast I had one on and lost it, I thought...beginners luck. But a few minutes later, another one on and lost it too, so I switched to a bigger back hook. It took bout half an hour 'till I got another bite, I was pullin it straight up current, workin the edge of a dropoff that I'd been catchin fish off of all night when WHAAAAMMMMM......he hit like a train, I set hook and almost fell outa the boat, and like usual, the net was tangled in something, so...I had to lip a bass with a mouth full of hooks in the dark...wonderfull!!! I got him lipped and in the boat, then found my light. I new it was a nice fish, so I didn't wanna lift him in. I was excited that on my fist night of a new technique that I actually did alright. The fish ended up being 19 inches, 3.2 pound. I had two more hit's that night, no more hookups. I feel that this technique is gonna help me out a lot from now on. I cant wait to get out there and try it again!

They seem to do that in the smalll creek that I fish in too. Often we use jitterbugs and popper type baits, but they do the same thing. If we get a hit, or a roll, we let it sit until they come back, we've let them sit for up to a minute, and they ( or another fish) hits it. I don't have an explanation for why they do it though. I would try downsizing your baits, just a suggestion. See what the rest of the guys have too say, i'm sure someone else knows somethin about this. Good Luck!!!

Thanks guys! We have had cold fronts coming in repeatedly for about 5 days now, I have been catchin, but not so many. I didn't know that their strike zone got smaller and they moved closer to cover. That should help me out on todays trip. We had a cold front that just passed a few hours ago, it's gonna get up to about 80 degrees, then we have another cold front comin in at about 4 or 5 this evening. Thanks again!

What do bass do between fronts? I know the bites good before, not as good after, but what if the situation is this... a front just passed, it's sunny and the temp is rising, but another front is coming in a few hours later. Would the fish stay in the after front bite or would they bite like they did before the first front? Thanks, Ian

In the crick I fish in, some areas are so loaded with crayfish you nearly step on them every step, then some areas there aren't any at all. These areas are far away, like one mile stretch may be loaded with them, the next half a mile, nothing! What causes this? I thought maybe the water temp, but it's the same in both areas. Thanks in advance! Ian

Does topwater after rain work? We just had a good storm, now it's gettin close to dark and it's really cloudy, would i be able to call em up with a zara spook or somethin, any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Ian

We thought the same with them here. We found a 24 inch musky several miles up a crick that empties into the river. We also have pirahnas in our river, i think it's the tourists, ............maybe the feds are tryin to kill us off, who knows......

I was down there once, and there was some amish boys throwin every fish they caught in a bucket, someone come down from the house above and yelled at them. They didn't release the fish, but I haven't seen them since ;D. You'll have to let me know when ya come up, maybe we can fish together!

That's still a very good place. It runs about 12 feet from there up to the island now. Scince we have been encouraging catch and release up here lately, there are some really nice smallies in there.

Does anyone else think that might be photoshopped? I dont know much about sting rays, but.......... ;D

Yep, sure is!!! We usually fish between Ford Island and Devils Kitchen. It's up around the Spruce Hill Area. Have you fished it before?

Well, the smallies are gettin into action! I was out with two buddies last Sunday, it was a good day for my buddy. He caught his first fish on a topwater. He was using a jitterbug. A nice one for the crick is around 3 pounds. He finished with 17, i finished with 14, and our other buddy had 2. Monday came around and my Dan (buddy 1) wanted to go out and fish evening and night. We were both using jigs, I finished with 13 bass, he had 6. We did no fishing Teusday and Wednesday. Thursday was the last day of school so we got out at 12:30. I went that afternoon. We had got almost an inch of rain Wednesday night, and the crick was up 5 inches and visibility was less than that. It took me all afternoon, but around 4 i found a pattern on a spinnerbait. The smallies were holdin tight to the bank and on wood. I managed 2, 1 was 3.5 pounds. Friday came around and me and Carson ( the other buddy that caught 2 last time) wanted to go all afternoon, so we did. I used my pattern from the day before to land 16 smallies by 7:30, but then they quit, and the water had cleared amazingly by then, I could see bottom in 3 feet of water, so I switched from chartreuse w/ 2 gold colorado blades to white w/ 2 gold colorado blades. Almost imediatley, I started catching them again. My biggest of the day was 1.8 pound, the rest were all over 1 pound, a very nice day by the usual standards of the crick. I finished with 23, my buddy had 2. A good day in the crick between June and September is at least 25 smallies, and it's nothing to catch 4 or 5 over 3 pound in a day. Set Some Hook, Ian
