  1. I live in central Pennsylvania. We have fish that look like them but they don't get that big and that long. The biggest I've ever caught was 18 or so inches. We call them fallfish. The only thing different is the mouth, a fallfishes mouth is almost like a sucker. Them fallfish tear plastic baits to peices also.
  2. Thats what my uncle said. I just wasn't sure if there was any way that it can be fixed. I flip the bail with my hand on all my spinning reels now. Thanks.
  3. I bought a Diawa procaster 2500 spinning reel last spring. I used it hard over the summer. I just started fishing every day again and yesterday I was having trouble with my bail. After I cast, it won't flip back over when I start reeling. the bail felt like it was loose, but I couldn't tighten the screws any more. I took it apart and put it back together, and it worked perfect for about an hour. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
  4. Everything is the best about fishing. Being on a quiet lake a daybreak with the fog lifting. Gobblers gobbling on the nearby moutain. Flipping a jig into the weeds, then your drag starts going zing zing zing zing zing. The anticipation. I know what you mean KU_Bassmaster, about being on the lake in the middle of the night, it's awesome. The sound of a Jitterbug in the complete darkness, then a big THWOMP. I think bass fishing is the funnest and most relaxing sport. And it is rewarding.
  5. This last weekend was great! Friday night I went to my local crick for some smallies, caught 3. Saturday afternoon, I fished a few hundred yards of crick(the same crick), and caught 11 on a rapala shad rap, perch. On the way back down the crick, I used a Zoom supper fluke, Arkansas shiner color. I had more hits than I can count, and just as many follows. I think my hook was to small for that fluke. Yesterday was the best though. I started at one on the afternoon, had my first smallie at a quarter 'till 2, a nice 4 and 1/4 pounds, 18 and 1/2 inches, on a chartreuse and brown bandit crankbait. Then I landed 3 bass between 15 and 17 inches on a white red eye special spinnerbait by Strikeking. Then finished off with a 10 incher on a rocket shad, also white. And then I had to leave, thats the worst part, cause I think they would have hit better later, I left at 4:30.
  6. I havn't tried roostertails, JK . But I did go out last night and land 3 smallies and 3 rockbass. The biggest smallie was 15 or 16. The other two were 6 or 8. Caught two of them on a rapala shad rap, the other on a junebug color senko, wich is also what I caught the rockbass on. I am going back down tonight to go after some more smallies. And just to let you know Tux, I only have one roostertail ;D, one I found when retrieving a lure off of a log one time.
  7. I am looking into getting a Solene soon, also. I've heard they are good for the price. I have a Pfluger Echelon, I love it. And they are only 65$. If you want to know about Quantum's, send a PM to basser89, I think he has just about every one of them.
  8. I am fishing in a crick, it's about 30 yards wide. I tried a black tube a while back, but not any green pumpkin. In the middle of the summer I use them Kinami Flash. The 4 inch ones work best, in the natural shad color and junebug colors. It is starting to warm up up here, so I figured they will start hitting them soon.
  9. I have been out a dozen times for smallies since beginning of April. Last night I caught my biggest so far, about 13 inches. I caught 6 so far. I can't even buy a bite on anything but a Rapala jointed shad rap, perch color. You know when they hit, they aint hittin soft, they're poundin' the crap out of my shad rap. Is anyone else using these, and what else are you using to catch smallies.
  10. Welcome aboard buddy. Remember, you have to click on the word MESSAGES to check them. I sent you one.
  11. Me and my buddy are planning a fishing trip for the summer. We figured it may take a couple days, maybe a week. Were going to camp along the bank at night. I need some advice on how to get our tent, food, sleeping bags, etc., down to our next location without carrying all of it while were fishing. I was thinking that we could get up before daybreak, transport the stuff down and walk back up, the fish back down. If anybody knows an easier way to do this, I would greatly appreciate your help. And the trip is about 13 miles straight, but the crick makes a lot of turns, I estimated the crick is 15 miles at the least. I could use any advice that anybody has, please?
  12. Opening day was tough for me. The place we started I only got two. We then went to a different place where I limited out. My biggest was only 12.5 inches. I went out yesterday and caught two, on 13 and an eighth, the other was 11 and three quarters. It hasnt been a good year around my place. :'( The trout are getting spooked more easily because the water is crystal clear.
  13. Welcome aboard!!! I'm also from PA, Juniata Couty. Have you ever fished Pinchot, Marburg, Cowans Gap, O'possum, or F. J. Sayers :-?(also known as Howard or Bald Eagle)?
  14. Baitcast!!! Frog legs or crawfish?(cooked)
  15. Two years ago I kept a couple smallies from the crick I fish in. I cleaned them, and they all had worms. I haven't kept any scince then. My dad said it was probably the warm water. Is that why and is there anything else that would cause them to have worms?
  16. Running shoes, just an answer. how 'bout this one, Crayfish or perch? cooked that is.
  17. Baitcast, they can do almost everything. This one may cause a problem, Chevy or Ford?

  20. I usually fish around the Ebenezer church road, if you know where thats at. And I do catch a lot of rock bass too. I am planning a trip this summer to fish the whole thing.
  21. My most productive body of water is the Tuscaroara crick(Juniata County, P.A.) a crick no more than 20 yards wide. Most places are 15 and some of the best places are 10. I fished it all summer using rocket shads, rebel humpbacks, wacky worms, and jitterbugs. I usually average 15 to 20 smallmouth in a few hours. They isn't no little smallmouth either, some of them get up to 18-20 inches, 2.5-3 pounds. It averages 3 foot, some places are 2, some places are 6, there is one hole calles Imes's hole it is around 20 foot.
  22. Is there any fishing clubs around centeral Pennsylvania? Some where around Juniata County.
  23. Mine was 5 and a half pounds. I caught it in the Juniata River, P.A. I was using a 3/8 ounce black and white rocket shad. It suprised me, I thought it was a carp. I was fishing off shore in Lewistown. So far it is the biggest I have ever caught.
  24. I was at Wal-mart, they are having a big sale on fishing stuff. They got some new reels. They are called pinnacle, They look like the Pfluger Echelon. They have 5 or 6 bearings and are a good price. I was wondering if anybody uses them and if they are a good reel to buy.
  25. I visited the crick near my house. It usually doesn't freeze, well, this year different. There was 3 inches of ice on Saturday, and 5 and a half inches this morning. I thought it was odd :-?. The water is moving pretty slow, so I guess it could freeze.
