  1. Watch your line. Thats what a lot of people will say. My line lays on the top of the water, I watch it to see if it twitches or anything. You can detect the slightest movement by watching it.
  2. Jitterbug :-/ Zara Spook, hmmmmmmm :-/
  3. I try one from time to time. Only caught 2 on it though. I've heard of people loosing fish on them, :-/ but ummm, I wouldn't know because i've only ever had 1 other bite.
  4. I seen my first Koi this weekend at Lake Marburg. It was about 25 inches. Forgot camera though. Are they rare around here or do they just like to stay in deep water. I've never seen one before.
  5. Sorry, I can't post a pic. The tail is strait, but it kinda swirls like a ribbontail, it runs the entire length of the worm.
  6. Went to bass pro last night and bought a Quantum accurist and a BPS tourney special rod for worms. Tested it out this mornin. Caught 2 bass using the flipping feature and flipping a black worm under a tree. I love it so far.
  7. I found a lure, a worm actually. It has the body of a grub, but the tail comes the whole way up to the front of it. It looks like a big tail off a worm. It looks good in the water, I want to find more, but I need to know what they are. Thanks.
  8. In this local creek I fish regularly for smallies, we catch these bluegill/sunfish things, what are they? :-/ I've never seen them anywhere else. There are mostly two kinds. There are ones with very bright red breasts, and ones with white breasts. They look just like a sunfish with a blue gill on them.
  9. Hey, thought i'd let yall know that I changed my name. I used to be countryboy, but I am now mobydick.
  10. Zoom super fluke. Either weightless or some splitshots. Arkansas shiner color.
  11. I started fishing when I was about 5 or 6( i'm 15 now). I started fishing seriously for bass when I was 13. But even in those 9 or 10 years a lot has changed. I have a bass pro shops fishing master catalog from 1998. I compared the equipment from then to what is available now, it's amazing. When I started fishing, I had 2 packs of zoom worms, and some hooks, and an old spinning setup. I have upgraded to 7 rods, and a MUCH larger selection of baits. I use my knowledge about bass fishing, of wich 85% of I learned from this site, to help me catch more fish. I used to catch a few, and I mean a few, fish when I started fishing, but know I catch some decent ones almost every outing. I learned how to read topographical maps, and use fish finders, to help me find fish. Although I rarely use them. Bass fishing has changed my life a lot. If I would have never got into it, who knows what I would be doing. I think it has made me a better person all together. I think it has kept me away from drugs, alcohol, etc. If I still fished today like I did 8 years ago, I would be bored out of my mind. Back then, it was more of a once in a great while I went fishing. Now I will fish whenever I have some free time. I often go fishing to just get away from the world for a day. When I started fishing, we used an old jon boat. Now we have a nice aluminum bass tracker. I still fish from shore 50% of the time. I plan on fishing some local tournaments soon. I wish to turn pro one if these years. I really think that if I put my mind to it, it can be done. I am trying to learn as much as possible right now, fishing in all kinds of conditions to learn how to catch fish in them conditions. Bass fishing for me is way more fun than it used to be. I learned more scince then, so now I catch more fish. Fishing has improved my life in some ways. It keeps me fit. It also lets me escape from the world, so to speak. Bass fishing used to be a hobby. Now it is a must. I AM HOOKED. I would die if I couldn't fish. I can't finish this post without saying how much bassresource has helped me. It is so awesome that there is a place where fishermen from all around the world can talk about the thing they love the most. When I caught my first musky, it was posted on here. I got the sites name from basser89, so I went on and checked it out. I was amazed at all the stuff I learned in the first few hours of searching this site. When I told my buddy about it, he became a member to( caneraisincountryboy). I hope I answered all the questions. I think this is a great thread.
  12. We use bluegill for musky. I would think it wouldn't be much different for bass. We use a big offset widegap worm hook( such as a 4/0 or 5/0 ), and hook it through the back. We toss it out and let it swim. If your not holding the rod, you should leave the bail open. We leave the bail open and put a rock or a stick on the line. That way the bluegill cant pull the line out, but you'll know when a bass hits it. And that will give you time to get the rod, 'cause if a bass grabs it and starts running with it, and your bail is shut, that usually isn't good. Hope this helps.
  13. I dont have any pics, but I have a 7 1/2 year old beagle. Her name is Abby. She has chased rabbits scince she was able to run. She also snores very loudly. I also have a 7 year old black and white cat, of wich my dad calls S***head, you know the word. He calls him that because he will come in one door and want back out another door in less than a minute, and he sleeps on top of the truck.
  14. We hadn't fished it in a while. We got there and it was 5 FEET LOW. So we put in anyway. We fished all day till about 2:30 before we got our first bites. And that was just one bite. Then I lost one just before we left at 4:30. We didn't get a single fish in the boat. >
  15. I was fishing at Meadow grounds yesterday. We were close to shore when I spotted something half burried in the mud. So i told my dad to bring the boat closer so i could get it. I picked it up and it was a clam(dead). I see these things all the time in other places, but not near this big. I measured it when I got home. It is 8 1/2 inches from tip to tip. 4 inches from back to front. And as high as a baseball. I am working on getting pics. We had seen numerous other clams that were almost that size in that lake. Is it normal for a clam to grow that big?
  16. I LOVE them flukes. I often will have it rigged texas with no weight, or texas with 2 split shots about a foot up the line. I usually use the Arkansas Shiner color. I will let it sink to the bottom then give it 3 or 4 quik twitches or jerks, then let it sink again. I have also had success by casting it out, then retreive it by reeling as fast as i can, giving it little jerks. The nose of the bait will pop out of the water every time you jerk it, making it look like a fleeing baitfish.
  17. They work very well in the big creeks I fish in. I rig them wacky style, i've had more luck that way. I usually am throwing a natural shad color in clear water, junebug in murky or stained water.
  18. I have fished a small creek for the past 6 years. I've had luck with green mister twisters, rapala jointed shad raps, the smaller ones, and 4 inch Kinami Flash, rigged wacky style, and rebel humpbacks.
  19. Nice musky! Great job!
  20. I heard that dark colored lures work best on dark and cloudy days. And that light lures work best on light and sunny days. I tested it at the lake yesterday. It was very cloudy and dark. I tied on a shad colored( it's kinda dark blue, gray and silver) and caught 1 bass. Then tried a natural shad colored kinami worm, and it caught 5 bass. Of all the brighter colored lures I tried, none worked. Is that because what I said in the beginning of this post is true, or is that just what they were biting on.
  21. Nice fish! Dad wants to know who you was fishing with. We went to Walker and caught a few largemouth. I sent you a PM about it.
  22. OK, OK. >:(Some PSE bows are good, well, it's mostly the shooter, but anyway. I havn't shot 3D for a few years though. I used to be somewhat good. :(Don't know what happened to that though!
  23. I don't catch animals, just the junk: Jacket/ice bag/tarp/fridgerator, it didn't move/bucket/shirt. My sister caught a stone on a spinnerbait, it got caught between the barb and the shank of the hook, cause she set hook on it and it got wedged. Once, when fishing for catfish in the river using cut up bluegill fishing it on the bottom, My dad and I caught somewhere like 50 crayfish. When you feel a tug,you pull it up slowly. We threw them in the boat, then put them in a minnow bucket to use for bait.
  24. I seen someone pick up a peice of trash by the river yesterday. I got to thinking, if everytime we go out fishing, we pick up at least one peice of trash. It would somewhat help, wouldn't it. So, every time you go fishin, just pick up a peice of trash, throw it in a trash can or in a plastic bag. Together, we can make a difference, anyone agree? THE NUCLEAR PHYSICIST
  25. Yup, I bow hunt to. I love it, although I havn't killed one yet. I hit a doe my first year. I like to shoot for fun also, 3D shoots are the best. I have a Grizzly Supreme bow with a set of carbon force 300 arrows. And for those of you who have PSE bows. You should know what that stands for right: Poor Shooting Equipment. THE NUCLEAR PHYSICIST
