  1. Love my magnum rage bugs. It is the ultimate mix between creature, craw, and baitfish immitstor in my opinion. Have never done well on a brush hog. The pit boss is a solid choice as well. Just ordered some 5" ones to give them a shot to get me a bigger bite.
  2. I frog with a 7ft heavy power daiwa fuego. It is what I would consider a budget rod and has held up to devastating hooksets on 50-65lb braid. I would recommend it.
  3. What does it matter if he catches fish or not? More for you to catch.
  4. There isn't a wrong way to work a jig. But my most used technique is when fishing a flipping jig or casting jig and using the "6 inch hop 6 inch hop, reel in slack line, pause, repeat" method. But I've found success swimming, dragging, ripping, and dead sticking jigs just to name a few.
  5. 10lb Seaguar senshi is a very nice line to use with small/medium Crankbaits. 15Lb for bigger/magnum cranks. It has a fairly small diameter and handles well.
  6. Sharp or rusty metal docks or dock posts, zebra mussels, etc will cut braid like a knife.
  7. Is that one of them there "popper stoppers?"
  8. I like the option of having both fluoro and braid readily available on my flipping combos. Just this last weekend we were out fishing and the southern part of the lake was clearer, with little to no vegetation, but had more timber, we ran to the north side and it was stained with some weeds. I left my leader on for the southern part and cut it off for the northern side because we were fishing more grass and less wood than we were earlier in the day. Also, I Will always go heavier than normal on my leaders on my heavy cover combos. 20lb big game is on way to large for me if I was to spool up with only that. But it works great for leader material since it is hardy and rigid and help a me pull fish out away from cover.
  9. I thought it was rated for more. I would not suggest it then. Heaviest I've went on it is a 3/4 ounce weight with full size brush hog and flipping hook.
  10. I bought about 5 if them. Although it is not topwater season yet, I did throw it for a bit on Saturday to give it a test run. They cast very well, churn at a very slow pace, and are super weedless. There was a slight chop on the water and it was loud both fishing into the wind and with the wind. I think I made a good purchase.
  11. Liquid graphite maybe?
  12. Wouldn't ever consider paddling a job boat. A trolling motor and deep cycle battery can be had for very cheap. That's my opinion.
  13. The magnum rage bug On a 4/0 flipping hook is really nice. We just Caught our biggest bag ever Saturday On the magnum bug.
  14. We caught a keeper instantly on a buzzbait Saturday morning. And a friend went last weekend with a jitterbug at night and got 6. Bluegill are in the shallows so I wouldn't rule it out.
  15. There Are a lot of super knowledable folks here on the forum that could probably help you out getting an idea of what things are worth it at least give you some more info about the equipment
  16. Sometimes I pitch twice, some times 50. Depends on my mood and how good I feel like the lay down is.
  17. Exactly 3.1415 pounds.
  18. Maybe they aren't there? You can't catch em if they aren't located where you are fishing. My only advice would be slow down and/or dead sticking a drop shot, small worm, or small craw style bait
  19. Over 27 pounds of Indiana largemouth. Caught them within 45 minutes of each other, all on a magnum rage bug, pitched dirt shallow.
  20. To add to my above post. 8 teams had 20lbs or more. My partner and i weighed our 6 biggest from the day and had nearly 28lbs
  21. Had our spring tourney today. Rules are 3 over 18inches, 3 under 18 inches. We had 22lbs 1 ounce. 4th place. Winner had 25lb 14oz. Big fish was 7-13
  22. Whatever "it" was had reflective eyes, was tan/flesh colored stood around 7-8 feet off the ground and had 0 intention of being scared of us. It flanked us to the left but never came right towards us. It stayed at a fast walk and never took its eyes off us. At first we figured it was a tweaker hopped up on meth and our perception of its height was off. But no matter how much meth you do I don't think your eyes turn reflective. There weren't any downed trees and none of the trees have branches lower than 30 feet in this woods so it couldn't have been a coon or bobcat...
