towing with a small suv?
Depending on how used you're talking. Take a look at the Ford's with the ecoboost twin turbos. I have a f150 with the 3.5 v6 ecoboost and regret not getting one sooner. I average about 22mpg on the highway, and 16 city driving, have 365hp (really fast truck) and the truck didn't blink when I pulled my wife's full size car sitting on top of a 22 ft dual axle trailer with no trailer brakes. Any other v6 wouldn't have cut it And btw, I'm not a Ford guy...at all. I actually work for and build toyotas

towing with a small suv?
There should be 0 problems towing that light of a load with a modern vehicle of any size. Even at 2000 lbs that's barely half of the load suggestion in the vehicle.

When To Use Red Bug Color Soft Plastics ?
If the water is wet, it will probably work. I don't put a lot of faith in color. Its more about location and action. Find the fish, catch the fish, release the fish, repeat.

(Un)official Hoosiers Thread
I haven't been fishing much since the little one came home from the nicu, but hoping to get out 1 or 2 more times before "winter" we didn't have much of a winter last year, with anything over about 5 acres not freezing completely. Which made prespawn forever long. Then we got the flooding in late April and were still catching pre spawners in 20 feet of water 1st weekend in May.

Advice on Bear Protection - NY
Your 357,41, and 44 mag are fine and dandy. But nothing says hello or goodbye to a large animal like a full power 10mm. And you'll have more ammo and quicker reloads. Whether it's legal or not in a state park, if there's bears I'd probably be carrying

Lew's Super Duty
I plan to use mine for pitching heavy cover and possibly frogs. Mainly bought it because it was "heavy" compared to my other reels. Trying to find a good balance point in my pitching stick

Lew's Super Duty
Everyone still pleased with their super duty at 99 bucks? Just ordered mine. First lefty baitcaster.

insert needed for top guide.
I don't even know of a tackle shop near me thats not a big box store. Which is crazy considering there is 5 rivers within 30 minutes of my house and Kentucky lake is only 1.5hrs away

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
The Lews super duty sale got me...But for 100 bucks I figured I'd try a lefty baitcaster.

insert needed for top guide.
Finally remembered to call lews today, what great customer service. They asked for my name, adress, and model number of rod and said the tip top will be shipped out tomorrow. First time I've ever had to deal with customer service with fishing stuff. Very pleased

I would do that...But I'm not sure of a tackle shop within 200 miles of me.

Bluegill on a frog
I agree. Warmouth are some of the most aggressive fish I've caught pound for pound. I know of a little farm pond chocked full of them and I take my 7'6 UL out there with a crappie jig and have a blast.

insert needed for top guide.
Well it looks like I'll be on the old youtube when I get off work this morning then. I mean, if I can build $65k vehicles I can probably figure it out right?

insert needed for top guide.
I have a lews tp1 speed stick casting rod. I recently noticed that it was missing the insert for the top guide. Not sure how I lost it, is there any way to know what size insert I need besides measuring it? I've emailed lews but, no dice. Going to continue to email and call to get a hold of them but would almost rather just order the part online and glue it in myself, don't wanna replace the whole guide just the insert.

When Color Matters?
I keep my color choices very simple. White, black, natural. Most of the time when I keep the same bait, but different color is when I underestimate the clarity of depth of the water I'm fishing.

Flipping question
I was a ewg lover for a long time, still am for big worms, but for flipping I have switched to a straight shank flipping hook, snell knot, bead, weight, and then 2 bobber stops. And I run my plastic a bit up the line with ewg hooks, that way my bead is in contact with the head of the plastic and not the knot, just a little cushion that way the bead isn't beating the crap out of my knot. Maybe you should try to put a bead between your weight and knot if you aren't already.

Are you pegging your weight? I use 2 bobber stops
