  2. Hunter Croak Owensville, IN Deep water fishing, c-rig or football jig? Which do you prefer?
  3. The bait monkey got me for some carolina rig stuff and also some topwater. Still fighting him off from the abu summer sale.
  4. I dont throw a-rigs much, but when i do i dont throw huge ones. I use 4 three inch baits and 1 five inch bait. 7'11 heavy power, moderate action deep cranking rod. 50Lb braid or 20lb p-line cxx. Reel is a orra winch 5.4:1 ratio.
  5. Wanted to hit my favorite farm pond today, but with 147 inches of rain last night and this morning i decided against it. So dinner and a movie with the wife and little one will have to do. Tourney prep for this weekend as well.
  6. Thanks tom! Was hoping youd reply, you seem to know a lot of little tricks and tips
  7. I've recently started toying with a c-rig...yes i know crazy. My weight is 5/8 oz. And when i cast a lot of times my plastic, be it craw, worm, or swimbait, goes further than my weight. Am i missing something or is this normal? My lure is going approximately 35-45 yards amd my weight is usually 7-10 yards short of that. Any help appreciated.
  8. Been reading up on this thread. Very very helpful! So helpful that i got this chunky fellow today on a c-rig
  9. Maybe just 1 more combo? Dont tell my wife! Lol
  10. Never a bad experience with omfishingsinkers
  11. What about a Cabelas tournament zx crankshaft 7'5 mh. Can catch em on sale for 70 bucks
  12. What a great day we had! Slab bluegill and redear on a 7'4 UL.
  13. If it was my choice, id be there. But my grandpa is the one who would be taking his boat up there (about 1.5 hr drive). And im definitely not gonna pass up the chance to fish with my grandpa, the man who taught me all about the outdoors, just because i really really wanna go bass fishing. And who knows, last time he fished the lake we are going to he caught a red ear big enough for him to mount, and at 72 years old that is a giant red ear.
  14. Been struggling here too. Im in southern indiana as well. About 25 minutes from evansville. You?
  15. Thats about like putting lots of chrome, saddlebags, exhaust, and a big fat back tire on a 49cc moped....but it'll work! Lol
  16. Well the chase for my pb has been put on hold. Talked to some guys and they said the lake was dead, nobody catching much. So instead of my grandpa wasting a tank of gas in the truck and boat we will go to a local lake and try our luck at some slab blue gill and red ear.
  17. I use cxx for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and cranking. Have used it with succes for every technique before. Shop by diameter. Breaking strength is higher than lb test.
  18. We all go to private lakes, our best spots, and usually out of 10-17 teams, there may be 2 dead fish. Which is very impressive. But yes the cheating thing is possible if someone was putting fish in a cage/basket days prior to the tourney.
  19. Is there a website that lists rod weight? Ive lookes but no luck
  20. Im not fluent in how much rods weigh, but the 6'10 medium, denali kovert lite is the lightest rod ive ever help. Even as light as my 7'6 ultra light.
  21. Little too cool for topwater i think, still prespawn here. May be some spawning there since they do let out a bit of warm water year round. May switch out the senko for a 5" swimbait then switch it to the senko if the moving bait bite is off.
  22. Berkley havoc grass pig is my go to swimbait/trailer. Usually around $2-$3 a pack. Very durable. Good action
  23. Prepping for a trip to one of the "big" bass waters in Southern Indiana. Multiple fish over 8lbs caught here last year and 1 over 10lbs. Mainly targetting the big bite when i go there. What do you think of what i have tied on? Any suggestions welcome. And i will be on someone elses boat with them is why im only bringing 5 combos. Fairly stained water and no deep water. Lots of laydowns and some rip rap. From left to right : 1/2oz jig, 1/2 oz bladed jig, 7 inch senko, 6 inch brush hog with flipping hook, and a chartruse shad squarebill.
  24. Awesome! Good luck on your tourneys
  25. Best chatterbait is a z-man chatterbait because its the only chatterbait. Now, bladed jigs are a different story. And the best one would be the fogy by seibert. Nice try though.
