  1. 2 reg clevises, i just overlapped them to get a duel blade. I think musky size ones are called cowboy inlines?
  2. I catch more red horse and sheepshead than carp on lures, but yeah, it happens. I also snag them in the fall when im snap jigging hair jigs.
  3. Yeah im at 200$ in just skirts. ?
  4. This bad boy crushed a hybrid rubber skirt rabbit zonker jig. Thought it was a huge northern as my buddy just caught a 40” earlier in the week. Absolute pig for a small stream. this is why I stopped using live crayfish years ago. Carp love them more than the smallies do!
  5. Won’t lie. First time I heard it I tryed googling it. That was a very diappointing search. Then it dawned on me, I’ve been fishing Menderflow river my whole life. ?
  6. Wow, this is genius. Never would have considered that method.
  7. Just wait. Your cart is going to be $300 in abt 10 min.
  8. Second Barlow’s. Cost in part depends on quality. You can get economy blades very cheap. They won’t last because they will tarnish/rust, but they do catch fish still. If you want say hildebrant you are going to pay for it. Up to you to decide what you want to do. More than any other lure, I feel like spinnerbait blades add up quickly if you want several diff sizes and styles. And I mean thats kind of the point of customizing. To be have all the different combinations of blades and make unique lures.
  9. Never bought those but I've taken a-lot of inspiration from his ties.
  10. Yes, i will say if its a marabou jig and you slip a piece of senko on it will help, but yes, anything under 1/8oz is tough. I had a zonker craw on the other day in 3/32 and with the wind it was difficult to throw on my ML. Hair is so much different than plastic on the same size head.
  11. A medium action rod will work its just not going to have the same ceel esp on the really light stuff. Casting sistance can be sacrificed as well. For me the bigger thing is the faster action the better coupled with 10lb braid. Especially hopping in and around rocks the feel is so important to be able to hop over rocks and feel light bites. A medium action rod will work with 1/8oz and up just fine. Lighter than that gets tough to cast and feel but it can be done.
  12. I love my 6’10” bassx mlxf for everthing from 1/16 to 1/4. I can fish 3/8 but it does start overloading the rod a bit. I tie my own jigs using bucktail, rabbit, marabou and hackle, craft fur and just about any other material i can get my hands on. Techniques vary depending on what im trying to do/ imulate. One of my favorites is a hybrid jig using rabbit zonkers for claws, bucktail or marabou body material and a finesse cut silicone skirt. I like to hop it mainly but will also drag it. Northern also love rabbit. Caught a sauger and 14” smallie couple days ago on it. On 3/32 versions i have also had success fishing it ned style. Marabou i use a slow consistant retreive. I prefer these in decent water clarity. In fall i do like to use 1/8 and 1/4 oz bucktail jigs tipped with a live craw or when i can access them in early summer, leeches. I typically use a snap jigging method with this lure. Only issue is sheepshead will hammer them and i have also snagged a few carp. I really need to order some more bear hair. Barlows doesnt carry it right now and i havent pulled the trigger on other sites.
  13. There have been studies indicating the whitetail rut timing may be influence by moon phases.
  14. northern IL. Its starting right now hear I beleive based on some results the last couple days. This cool spell has seemed to wake them up
  15. They most definitely do! Those look great!
  16. Proud lure maker moment! I made this inline spinner over a year ago. He was fishing our local stream and finally used it. Spot is 300 yds from my childhood home and my favorite place in the world. This 20” smallie gobbled it. Its the first 20” I ever heard of being caught down there. Ive caught 18s and 19s but never a 20”. Several northern also bit. I think this might be just as good as me catching it myself.
  17. Never seen the rivers and streams this low. Thought maybe the july rains would help but alas, not so much. Rock River and Green River. Normally i relish august-september low flow but the Rock has been tough. All the normal rock cover i catch them around is out of water. The green is still hitting though.
  18. Fishing in the snow can provide some of the prettiest views whether catching em or not. If im in a downpour I will keep fishing. If its spotty or a lighter drizxle i will go. But its hard for me to get motivated if its downpouring. And then there is always lightning. Thats a complete no go obviously.
  19. This…. If you can find them. personally, ive always had luck with worms just get annoyed when carp or drum eat them. Definitely use a circle type hook so you dont gut hook them. If you dont have crawlers, wacky rigging and dropshotting a zoom finisse worm can be almost as effective at times.
  20. Spinnerbait is a great place to start in summer. I like to start reaction generally. If nothing is going on that try an x rap and a dt6. Paddle tails, grubs. I dont consider 4-6ft very deep. It deepends more on clarity and speed. If its a riffle im burning a 3/8 to half oz bait with chart/ white blades. If its just heavier current im using pretty much everything in my arsenal. Not really something i use alot but you might try a wopper plopper. Jigs with a curlytail have always been deadly for me as well.
  21. Wacky rig with a 4” senko or finesse bait has become a big confidence bait for me last couple years. Especially in summer when the water gets warmer. Seems to pull them out when everything else struggles.
  22. Yes, i have done this. I like to throw marabou in. It does flow nice.
  23. this would probably affect any hunting dog trials.
  24. I use 30 degree wide gaps and either a reg splir shot or the crimp on sinkers. And add a screw lock. The pinch on sinkers work really well and dont slide around i find the crimp ons slide so i glue them in place. You can also make underspins pretty easily. The 30 deg mustads are lighter wire but i know Barlows sells a 45deg swimbait hook. You can always use an ewg offset widegap worm hook as well. I just prefer screwlocks.
  25. Not a jet boat but absolutely know the whole I hope that boulder or rock bar isnt closer to the surface than I think thing.
