  1. With the right rod I'm sure it can work well. With the wrong rod I can see major issues. Might not get as deep as you'd like compared to straight fluoro but you can always change to a deeper crank. Just my thoughts, ain't worth much.
  2. Whatever depth you need that keeps it banging into the rock.
  3. What do you guys prefer? The majority of my new rods are split grip. But one of my most used rods (over 20 years old) is full grip and I don't think I would want it any other way. I use it for spinnerbaits and swim jigs. What say you?
  4. I've heard some good things about it on here but yeah, it just flat out looks creepy. What size do you use and how do you fish it?
  5. For those wondering about the Simms jacket and how it fits. I would highly recommend reading the reviews straight off of their website. The majority say it runs true to size but a few have said it runs large. https://www.simmsfishing.com/products/ms-simms-challenger-insulated-jacket?variant=45259089346750
  6. Is it a crank or a jerkbait? Whatever it is, it's a very good imitator. Me want one.
  7. Well I majorly screwed up. I was going to place a large order and get a free Bento box but they just sold out of them. I think they are valued around $200. I'm so mad at myself.
  8. I think I'm leaning towards the PopX Stick. I'm also thinking about getting a Z Crank Elseil for smaller cranks so I need to make sure I don't overlap things. I love P5 rods but I don't need 15 of them.
  9. I think with the right equipment, ice fishing would be really fun. But without it, could be very unpleasant. Randomly drilling holes (in the cold) with no electronics probably doesn't pay many dividends. If my early retirement plan comes to fruition, I can definitely see myself giving it a try.
  10. Super ultralight, dang. Must bend like crazy. lol
  11. This is how my tiny brain thinks: DC = Digital Control which is run by an internal microcomputer. Seems like something like that could break. It's a no from me dawg.
  12. Yes that's the problem with digital material. One bad "glitch" and POOF, all your memories gone. We have a ton of home videos from when the kids were young that I'm also afraid of losing. The smartest thing is probably cloud storage but that probably gets expensive and maybe even harder to manage. Shouldn't lose anything though.
  13. I've learned that managing the files is by far the hardest thing to do. If you record say a 5 hour fishing trip, it takes a lot of GB's. An entire year of fishing trips? I should probably edit them all and only save the clips where I catch fish but that takes even more time. I'm all ears for suggestions.
  14. So you're saying you would rather throw a drop shot over ice fishing???
  15. I've had really good luck with the Strike King Bitsy minnow also using a stop and go retrieve. Bass and panfish love it. Throw it on an UL spinning rod. Not sure how much it weighs but it's definitely a lure I want to keep throwing on the BFS combo. The fun factor is off the charts.
  16. Not surprising that it's heavy(ish), good chunk of metal. Ideally I'm throwing that reel, on a Megabass P5. Small hard baits. Don't really see myself throwing single hooked lures. IDK, could change.
  17. It sounds like they make a very good product, you just have to be VERY PATIENT with getting said product. Myself? I don't have that much patience. LOL
  18. That's a good question. Number one on the list is defiantly the Calcutta Conquest. I fell in love with it when I saw it. Just a gorgeous reel. If there's something that would work better, I'm all ears.
  19. Thanks for the info, I was hoping you would chime in. I know there are a few of us P5 lovers on here. I was hoping more of a light powered rod would work but it sounds like it should be more of an UL? Ever have your hands on the PopX Stick? Thanks again
  20. Seems like there are many options available, I’m trying to figure out what’s best for me. Mostly looking for a rod to handle small treble hook baits. Small cranks, maybe topwater, and of course the world famous Karashi. What model(s) should I be looking at? THANKS!
  21. GOOOOOOOO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
