  1. I just ordered three spools from Tw on Friday to try it out.
  2. I have a Bonafide SS127 with a Bixby motor installed on the rudder. Motor and battery weight nine pounds. When I get to the water I attach the motor to the rudder, 60 seconds on a bad day.
  3. There are tons of kayak tournaments and the number is growing every year. They are Catch-photo-release so no live well needed. I also fish a few regular boat tourneys in my kayak that use the same, CPR.
  4. I'm with you, a shad pattern and a bluegill pattern. I do that for both swim jigs and bladed jigs. I save the crawfish colors for the Arky jigs.........
  5. I just went all crazy at the TW sale........First time in awhile without a rod or reel purchase. I reviewed my order and it was pretty much restocking.......line, plastics, terminal tackle, jigs.....I added a couple spinnerbaits. All in all kind of a boring order......lol
  6. If you want to go up to $300 I use a MegaBass Diablo SpecR for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits.......love it. FYI I use it for swim jigs and deep cranks too.
  7. I use PP and Sufix. I prefer the Sufix and to me it actually feels less stiff than the PP, but really only when it's new, which isn't long. But.......on Black Friday at TW I'm going to finally try Smackdown to see if it's worth twice as much.
  8. I've caught bass on all colors.........green, camo, grey. No leader. I now use the very scientific method of basing my decision on what's in stock.
  9. Those Levante rods cost me a lot of money........they got me hooked on MegaBass rods, then stopped making them so I moved up to the Orochi XX's. Now I have eight of them.......ugh.....lol
  10. I had good luck the other morning switching from a chatterbait to a swim jig with a paddletail that I brought back SLOWWWWWW, like a couple turns of the handle real slow then a slight pause, repeat. That finally got me some bites on very non aggressive bass. Half of the bites I wasn't even sure I had a fish on at first.
  11. 3/8's oz swim jig with a paddletail trailer, rip it through the grass....My favorite when a frog won't work.
  12. So if the bait being on the bottom with a T-rig isn't working try using a J-Rig so the bait is 1/4 inch off the bottom??
  13. No, I'm in a kayak and only running the 93sv with the GT54. I had a Hook2 before switching. I don't have any photos of images but if I go out this week, which I'm sure I will, I'll try to remember to take a few.
  14. I've been using a 73SV UHD all summer and just made a minor upgrade to the 93SV UHD. Both were with the GT54. I switched from Lowrance and can tell you that it was a great improvement. I upgraded to the 9" screen because the current price made it difficult not to and I like having three views on my screen. The 2" increase was a huge improvement.
  15. The weight in a Tokyo rig is attached via a piece of wire, therefore the hook/bait is a bit higher above the weight than a J-Rig.
  16. Like already mentioned. For topwater baits, which I am assuming you mean poppers and other treble hook applications I use a M/Mod rod. For chatterbaits I use a MH/Fast. I also used to use a MH/Fast for buzzbaits but accidently found I prefer a H/Fast for them now. If I could only use one rod for all three it would be the MH/Fast. I wouldn't want to rely on a M/Mod to set the hook on single hook baits.
  17. I use Megastrike also....a tube lasts me all season and it can't hurt so why not.
  18. I don't know if it matters but I use flash when it's bright and sunny. But most of mine have some flash or translucence in them.
  19. Same here......but I bring anywhere from 6-8 rods.......I have 6 3700 boxes in my crate behind me. I have a 3600 under my seat with the lures I think I'll use that day. 95% if the time I never have to reach behind me unless it's to get more plastics.. I still bring it all though.
  20. Here in northern Illinois I'll take the last three weeks of May, cloudy with a slight wind, some rain moving in.
  21. Fishing season took me right into hunting season.........I've been hunting for 40 years and for whatever reason my excitement for hunting has diminished the last few years, particularly as I've gotten more into the bass fishing thing.....I used to pretty much hang up the kayak on October 1st for bow season. The last two years I haven't even taken to the woods yet but am still putting the kayak in to chase bass. I will be out in the woods for firearm season though........this coming weekend.
  22. I use 20 lb for cranks, jerkbaits, mainly treble hook baits, 30 for jigs, t-rigs, spinnerbaits, mainly single hook baits. I use 65 for frogging and other slop fishing. I don't have problems with dig in. I use Sufix 832 or PowerPro......whatever is in stock when I need it.
  23. You're going to get so many replies that recommend both.......for me..........braid no leader for most of my fishing. I use a short mono leader on treble bait rods because the mono is a little stiffer and it helps to keep the hooks from fouling the line. By short I mean short,,,,,,,like less than two feet.
  24. I use a 6'10" Mod/fast but it's a baitcasting rod. I let the lip do the work and do quick jerks, probably somewhere between the 2 o'clock to 3 o'clock on one side or the 9 o'clock, 10 o'clock on the other side. Seems to work for me.
  25. Ah, my bad. I thought it was an SS.............
