Anyone have an ideal color for braid that works?

Featured Replies

I use white braid and i'm considering using a fluorocarbon leader for increased hookup ratios. Any opinions on wether or not I should use a specific color of braid or tie the fluoro leader? I have another frogging rod with just braid on it so it's not like im looking for an all around line application if that makes sense. Thanks in advance!

I mostly use yellow.  Whether I can see the line is the most important factor regarding color...to me, anyway.

I have used pink and lime green with good visibility results,  also.

I prefer green braid but have caught bass on other color braids. One of my cousins does very well with yellow braid even in clear water.

I use lo viz green or yellow. My yellow pending application may have a leader, straight yellow braid or black sharpie coloring 4 to 6 feet of it

I've caught bass on all colors.........green, camo, grey.  No leader.

I now use the very scientific method of basing my decision on what's in stock.

Depends on your use for braid, strength in heavy cover then less visible color. If strike detection is the goal then bright easy to see braid works good.

For slow techniques when I need to see the line moving I use Ghost (white) and neon yellow.  Those are the colors that my old eyes see the best.  For moving lures color doesn't matter.

I prefer green but buy whatever is on sale. They lose their color sooner or later.

Ive used red, green, gray, yellow, lime, white. Its really whatever you prefer IMO

Fins PRT hasn’t lost it’s green color for 40 years and it’s made in Georgia USA.

I was a hi-vis yellow guy because of bite detection, and I still am in the sense that I bought a whole bunch of it in all sizes when Power Pro was on sale.  One day my dog got hold of the 30# spool and spread it all over the backyard.  When I needed it, I replaced it with a neon green 832 just to see.  It turns out that my yellow tinted sun glasses sees the neon green significantly better than the hi-vis yellow. I have not decided if I need to replace the sun glasses or the yellow Power Pro.

Echoing what others said, high vis color for bite detection, dark color to hide it from the fish. Just depends what you want your line to do for you.

Good to know.  I am trying Fins because of your earlier recommendations.  I have it in Pink, Yellow and Blue, in Windtamer, Original PRT and 40G.

EDIT:  My first braid was Sufix Performance.  I liked it just fine, but it did turn a palish green/white after awhile.  I would recommend it to anyone looking for a low cost alternative.

I almost always use dark green braid, but I've had a bright lime green which you can certainly see easier.

I've been using red simply because that's what Academy had in stock. Not bad

Just ordered neon green. Brighter the better, helps tremendously with bite detection.

Good to know. When I run out of my Kastking Superpower green braid I will pick some up.
