  1. I was about to order a reel from either TW or Tackle Trap, I may have to check prices on the sites listed in this thread.
  2. I'd be ripping a swim jig/Keitech Fat along the bottom.
  3. I tend to stick with the same brands within techniques but do try to learn or improve on a non confidence presentation. I should have more patience when using methods I'm not good at or don't use often. This upcoming year I'm going to really put effort into offshore structure fishing. I will say that last summer I went out one day and decided after every bass I was going to change lures, just for fun. I ended up catching quite a few on I think 12 different lures. Nothing big but it was fun!
  4. Just like in a kayak! LOL
  5. I can fit everything I need coving pretty much everything in 5 3700 Plano Edge boxes. Four thin, two standards. Throw in a worm binder filled with spinnerbaits and I'm good to go. They fit in the crate on my kayak and fit in a medium sized tackle bag. One thin has my jigs....bottom, swim, chatter Another thin has my topwater lures from frogs, poppers, wake baits Another has jerkbaits and glide baits Regular has cranks,,,,,I have 33 of them in there right now Regular has my assorted plastics Edge Terminal has, well my terminal stuff........It's about as thick as the thins
  6. I use a Medium rod for jerkbaits, I use a medium for most of my treble hook baits. I like a fast action because I feel it imparts a better "jerk" on the jerkbait as I work it. I don't know about a Medium Light as I've never used one for anything other than dropshot and wacky rig.......I don't do much finesse wise.
  7. It depends on the gear. Especially the rod for me when casting light lures.
  8. I have nine BC setups and one spinning.........lol I use the BC for everything except dropshotting and wacky rig....and I don't fish either method very much. As a result I can cast pretty darn accurately with a bc but when I use the spinning setup it's a crapshoot on where my cast is ending up!
  9. Winter..........it's iced over. Spring- Jigs, jerkbaits, spinnerbait, underspin, t-rig Summer- Jigs, squarebills, chatterbaits or swim jigs, swim frogs, wacky rig Fall-Jigs, jerkbaits, t-rig, crankbaits
  10. I haul my SS127 in an extended cab Silverado. I use, and have always used, a bed extender. I also wouldn't want my 1/3 of my kayak hanging off the back of my truck.
  11. A fool and his money are soon parted.
  12. That's great news. I live just outside Chicago so like the potential speed up.
  13. The reality is...................who knows except the person on the boat.
  14. My favorite bass season is from when the ice melts and I can get on the water until the water freezes over and I can't get on the water.
  15. Well that wasn't very nice! LOL
  16. Maybe it's a left handed rod! LOL
  17. Well it's winter here in northern Illinois.......I'm stuck reorganizing my tackle about 100 times until Mid to late March.
  18. I may be direct messaging you soon, although this lake will be in northern Indiana and mid April. So probably cold!
  19. I'm almost the same but use this method, long enough so that when the lure/hook is on the rod keeper the leader knot does not make it to the tip of my rod.......so on a seven foot rod, probably around six foot of leader.
  20. Definitely jigs. I find with a lot of lures you feel, hook, most fish that hit your lure. Especially quick moving baits and treble hook baits. Once I started to put a lot of effort into jigs and got better at it I realized how many bass took my jig and I never even realized it.
  21. Same here. Off shore structure. I've been watching a ton of "Fish the Moment" videos on Youtube. I'll also be learning to use my electronics better for this.
  22. Got it. I'm 245 but in a Bonafide SS127.
  23. What kind of kayak are you looking at. Most fishing kayaks are plenty stable without adding stabilizers. I laugh when I think back a few years to when I first started in a kayak. I got in and out of the thing like I was walking a tightrope over Niagra Falls. Now I just stand up and walk off the front like I'm walking down the street. I stand up to fish, stretch, pee........I don't even give it a second thought. No stabilizers.
  24. I wouldn't keep the rod pointing straight up. You removing some of the flex of the rod to battle the bass. Lower it a bit but keep it up enough to always have bend.........
  25. You're reeling them in withy your rod pointing straight up or lowering it back down? It's a small hook, don't rip it out of their mouth and let the rod action do it's thing.
