  1. I have the jig and terminal boxes and love them. I keep looking at the crank box but I'm not sure about the size relative to the Plano regular crank box. I use a regular milk crate and any thicker and it'll be a tight squeeze getting them in and out while fishing.
  2. I use straight 60 for frogs and punching 20 lb for cranks, jerks, topwater, pretty much all small to medium sized treble hook baits 30 lb for jigs, both bottom, and swimming. I do a lot of jig fishing, am a pretty large guy, and set the hook like I'm crossing their eyes and don't have issues. It's Sufix 832 by the way.
  3. Like Francho said, well nuts or rivets. Even with those I put a dab of marine sealant in the hole first.
  4. IF, and that's IF I was going to use a ratio that high, maybe topwater frogs or bottom jigs. To get the lure back to me for another cast once I'm past my target area.
  5. You'll be fine. If you feel it does just go up a size in weight.
  6. All my reels are spooled with braid. All of them except my frogging and punching rod have leaders. Does it help, I don't know. The main reasons I use a leader are: For cranks and other treble hooked baits the short mono leader is a bit stiffer than braid and doesn't foul the hooks as often as straight braid. I use snaps on these so retying isn't really an issue. For jigs, single hook, plastics, etc I use a leader to save on braid. I don't use snaps and tie directly to the lure. I fish a lot and retying with a leader keeps me from having to respool. When the leader gets shorter than I like I just cut it off and tie another one on. A 300 yard spool of mono that I use for leader should last me a LONGGGG time. This is the first year I'm doing this. I fish a lot of clear water quarries and lakes, does the mono leader lead to more bass due to being less visible? I don't know, but I will say I'm catching more very large bass this year. Probably as many this year already as the past two or three years combined. But that could also be because I'm getting better at deeper structure in the warmer months.
  7. For some reason I haven't caught any bass on a lipless in at least a month. I keep trying. But to be fair I haven't caught many on any type of crank. Jigs have been the ticket though.
  8. I've been doing well but I don't fish from shore and most of my bigger bass haven't been near shore. They've been on offshore structure. I've been using a jig/craw combination and casting it near drop offs and humps. I've also had good success by casting to the shadow side of cover. I've also found that if I catch a couple small ones I move because I don't believe little bass hang around with very big bass. If you are stuck on shore look for something you can reach that is a bit different than other places. Bigger bass pick the best spot. I weed line may hold bass, the small outcrop of weeds along that line, ore the small indent along those lines, or a stump along those lines will have a better chance of holding bigger bass. The bigger they are, the better there choice of where to stay in a given area.
  9. MegaBass Orochi XX Braillist for $299. I have two, one for jigs, one for T-rigs
  10. It won't affect the action. But where I fish I quickly learned a snap on a frog amounted to a lot of weeds being dragged along.
  11. You don't say how many you are willing to deal with, other that less than seven. If I were carrying six I'd go: 2 M/Mod for cranks/topwater/weightless plastics 3 MH/Fast for jigs/bigger cranks/spinnerbaits/t-rigs/misc 1 H/Fast for frogging/punching/bigger baits
  12. Are you sitting or standing in the kayak? I don't bank fish much and am pretty accurate sitting in my kayak. Although I do go through those moments where for 2-3 casts I wonder how I forgot to cast so quickly...lol
  13. I usually only find old line with a rusty sinker and hook still on it when I snag it.
  14. Mine are sorted by running depth. I fish out of a kayak so I only have one box with me at any given time.
  15. Since Covid I've had both very quick, and very slow shipping from TW. All were in stock. Tackle Trap is one that is always quick.
  16. Mine isn't as bad as a broken rod but a few days ago I ordered from BassPro 1. Blaze orange baseball hat 2. One package of Neko weights 3. One package of Wacky rig weights 4. One package of Owner snaps They are coming in four different packages on four different days...........per the four tracking numbers........lol
  17. I love that reel. That and the Elite's will soon make up my entire lineup.
  18. Tight to shore, and tight to cover.......
  19. I base using a chatter vs swim jig more on water clarity, cloud cover, and wind more than temp.
  20. I start shallow if I'm on the water before the sun is beating down. Once the sun is up higher and if the bass are biting I'll keep fishing shallow, targeting shadow areas. If they weren't biting or stopped biting I go deeper. Depending on water clarity I'll either continue to hit the shadow side of cover/structure or I'll go deep enough that the light isn't penetrating. I used to be a shallow water guy, pounding the banks and shallow cover. I caught bass but usually small to average sized. Once I started learning to fish deeper in the summer the bass got bigger. Like said above, I stay above the thermocline.
  21. I don't use any backing and I know some will hate/doubt whenever the word "never" is used, but I never have slippage. I DO put electrical tape once around the spool first. And yes I have caught big bass..lol
  22. My shortest rod is a 7 footer. All my leaders are 5 feet or less.
  23. I have some really small hooks for wacky rigs. The plastic lids of the containers within the main box snap down tight.
  24. I recently switched from a Lowrance Hook2 to a Garmin Echomap UHD. I like the down and side scan picture on the Garmin much more than the Lowrance. The maps on the Lowrance were MUCH better than the Garmin though.
  25. I wasn't clear. I wasn't saying it was. What I was trying to say is I use the wake bait where others may use a Whopper Plopper and have better success with it. It's a bit more subtle.
