  1. I use 6th Sense. I have much better success with them than Whopper Ploppers.
  2. I always use a MH. On a suggestion from someone I tried a H and didn't like it. Back to MH. Could just be my personal preference though. Full disclosure......I do use a H for punching though.
  3. I cull my tackle all the time. But I must buy some extremely loyal stuff because it keeps coming back!
  4. Exactly! I got much better at fishing jigs once I decided I was going to lose them.
  5. I'll trade you some of my inability to fish slow for some of your inability to fish fast! LOL I've made getting away from the shore and fishing deeper structure my goal this year. It does require a slower approach and so far it's beginning to pay off in much bigger bass. Most of my big bass came pre-spawn and fall. This year they are mostly coming in June and in deeper water.
  6. And this is where I learned that a better, more sensitive, rod can make a world of difference in having a better idea of what you're feeling.
  7. If I feel a fish take it, or THINK I feel a fish take it I set the hook, I'm a firm believer that often times the second thump you feel is the fish spitting it out. If I set the hook and miss, I still work it and often times the bass comes and takes it again.
  8. I use Keitech 3.8 Swing Fat's on 3/8's and bigger underspins. I use 3.3's on smaller ones. For me cloud free, clear water = underspin or swim jig Wind/clouds/murky = chatterbaits
  9. I would estimate that the other day half my catches were on the fall, have were after a couple twitches or so on the bottom, kind of hopping it like a jig.
  10. I would consider myself an impatient fisherman. I hate finesse, not because it doesn't work, but because it doesn't fit my personality. The funny part of that is I love fishing jigs, which while I wouldn't consider it finesse, it isn't really a fast paced way to fish. I've also caught my biggest bass by far on jigs, probably eight of my top ten. What I really hate is dropshot, or weightless wacky, things like that. Thursday I was fishing an online tourney. No wind, no clouds, strip quarry with 15+ feet of water visibility. I started off with my dreaded wacky worm setup. I started catching bass right away but they were all 12-14 inch bass. After I had my 5 I needed to cull and switched to a jig to hopefully catch bigger bass, the next three I caught, all on a jig, the biggest was a 10" whopper.. LOL I tried frogs, cranks, chatterbaits, walking baits, didn't catch a thing. Back to the wacky rig, back to catching bass. Like I said, not my favorite but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
  11. I've had the opposite experience, maybe not 95% but most of my swim jig bites leave no doubt that a bass just hit it.
  12. I'm fishing a very clear water quarry tomorrow and I think I'll give the jerkbait a try.
  13. Dirty Jigs. I only use three colors, Bluegill, Crappie, Tactical Shad. It seems to cover all my needs.
  14. I have the 73 SV and love it. My only regret is not going with the bigger screen as I tend to use three views at once now that I have SideVu.
  15. Jigs, jigs, jigs, jigs..................
  16. I use Keitech Swing Impact Fat, 3.8 and 4.3's. Anytime is a good time to throw a swim jig. And I'm being serious.
  17. I only throw a 110. I use a H/Fast, Daiwa Tatula Elite to be exact. I have thrown a 70 and used a MegaBass Diablo Spec R
  18. I just ordered and received these. I love them and they're cheap. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VDCPQF1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  19. You are keeping the rod tip low to keep them from jumping but are you keeping it back? Not pointed in the direction of the fish? Let the rod keep tension on the hook.
  20. I never use a trailer hook on spinnerbaits but always use a trailer.
  21. The best color/pattern in my favorite fishing spot is a shad color. There are no shad in that body of water. There are a ton of bluegill and crappie though.
  22. I use Keitech 3.8 Swing Impact Fats.
  23. Black and blue jigs are like red to me. Both get raved about, both I've tried. I have caught bass with a black and blue jig but not many. I've never caught anything with a red crankbait. LOL The other day I was catching a lot of bass in water with about 3-6 inches of visibility on a Brown jig with a hint of purple in the strands with a watermelon Spicy Beaver.
  24. Orochi XX I have 2 Braillists 1 Swingfire 1 Pitch Perfect 2 Diablo Spec R's Levante 1 Flatside Special
  25. One thing to keep in mind is if you plan on doing a split screen. If so the bigger the better. I have an Echomap UHD 7" with SideVu. I love it. I actually use three views at once now that I've learned to read the SideVu and wish I had the 10" screen. With just two views 7" would be fine.
