  1. Swim jig......vibrating or not depending on conditions Crank bait T-rig
  2. A natural color in clear water, something with chartreuse in murky water. This year I've added a couple of "ghost" translucent cranks for clear water/very sunny to try out.
  3. I was out today in a quarry, vis was at LEAST 8 feet since I could see the gravel/rocks on the bottom at that depth. I caught 1 on a spinnerbait, 3 on a t-rigged Spicy Beaver, 2 on a MegaBass popper, and 14 on a squarebill. All were on either 20 or 30 lb braid, no leader.
  4. I use 20 lb braid for that. I go back and forth between using a leader, and to be honest I haven't noticed a difference. I fish some very clear water quarries and they are pressured. I still don't notice a difference in catch rate. So tend towards straight braid, 20 lbs.
  5. I much prefer a buzzbait to the Whopper Plopper.
  6. If your batter drains you aren't done fishing. You should always bring a paddle. Not all kayaks made for motors or pedals paddle great but they are all able to be paddled.
  7. As long as it's not sunny, clear water, no wind, I'll start with a spinnerbait. Depending on conditions I may switch it up. The other day I was on a lake, decent chop, cloudy, water was very low vis due to flooding, probably about 6 inches. Started with a spinner figuring the conditions were perfect for it, not even a tap. Switched to a chatterbait, had a few light hits, probably to the tail of my trailer, no hookups, switched to an unerspin with the same trailer as a chatter, started catching bass non stop. It wall depends on the conditions and the mood of the fish.
  8. I should have added that 3.8 is my favorite size by far.
  9. I've used SunGill or something like that in darker waters or where there are a lot of bluegill.
  10. I'm not near the expert as many here but I have a certain spot on a quarry I fish that due to the way the drop off and shoreline are shaped, as well as summer tree and brush growth it's pretty much impossible to cast into a corner that I know holds pretty big bass on a regular basis. It's an inside corner where the rock it cut, a small corner actually that is more like a squared off "U". I know bass hang in there when it gets hot and the water is in the 80's, what I don't know is what depth they will be sitting at. I get within about 10 feet of the back corner in my kayak, pitch the jig to the corner and then peel line off with my hand to let it fall straight down. I concentrate on watch the line, even with a bit of slack in there as it's falling I notice the twitch in the line when the jig is taken. It's not a ton of slack but there is slack.
  11. I use a shad color with a shad color 3.8 inch Keitech. I will dip the tail in chartreuse dippin dye though.
  12. I started with Mojo Bass up to Avid and AvidX rods. MegaBass wise I've had Levante and Orochi XX's. Comparison's are kind of difficult because the Orochi's have so many variations within the line. Plus it's comparing a $300 rod to a $220 rod. I would say that the comparable rods, Orochi vs Avid's is the Orochi's are a bit more sensitive. It's been awhile since I've used a St. Croix so I don't feel I can compare them rod to rod anymore. Power wise I feel the Orochi's have a bit more backbone but like I said, the MB's have so many variations within the line. The Braillist has more power than the Avid MH/Fast but the Diablo Spec R has a little less.
  13. Never say "Never", it's the kiss of death.. lol I never broke a rod then last year I broke 2 in three outings. Haha. Just to keep from breaking another one I'm putting this out there................I'm SURE I'll break another one soon.....
  14. You didn't put a price but I throw that on a MegaBass Orichi XX Diablo SpecR and a Daiwa Tatula Elite with 30 lb braid.
  15. The first two answers are what worked for me yesterday. We've had so much rain that the waters are much higher than I've ever seen. The place I fish the most had probably 6-8 feet of visibility of few days ago and about 6 inches of vis yesterday. I started with a shad colored spinnerbait/Keitech trailer with a silver and a gold willow blade and did quite well fishing tight to any type of cover. When they stopped hitting that I switched to a brown/purple jig with a Sweet Beaver trailer and pitched it up tight to shore, as in at the water line, some places is was less than a foot of water, some places it was 5 feet of water....and started getting bites again. It was also overcast but not thick overcast.
  16. I use straight braid on all my TWS reels, from 20 lb up to 60 lb, Sufix and PowerPro. I have no issues at all.
  17. Fishing from a kayak I don't have easy access if I keep all my plastics in their bags. Like said above I take enough plastics to last two or three trips. I don't have a a huge variety of plastics, and within that small variety I usually only have three colors of each. Therefore I'm able to keep them in one Plano box.
  18. Trying to sell something on Craigslist you get mostly scammer responses too.
  19. My shortest rod is 7 feet even, my longest is 7-05, I'm not tall by any means and have no problem with the rods. I've landed a few 5+ over the last few years.
  20. I have the NRS PFD and really like it. The only time I don't wear it is when it's very hot and I use an auto inflate. I a quite a bit beyond a basic setup on my kayak, Bixby motor, electronics, etc, but will tell you I've tried several crates and always go back to my basic milk crate with a bunch of rod holders attached. It's simplicity can't be overlooked.
  21. The lures I use either go in a cup holder I bolted on just for that purpose or a small plano box under the seat. When I get home they get dried out before they go back in the regular Plano box.
  22. I was going to order a couple of spools of Sufix also, out of stock so I didn't.
  23. Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver and Spicy Beaver, three colors in each. Black/Blue Flake, Green Pumpkin or similar, watermelon/red flake. Yum Dingers in three colors, black/blue flake, Green Pumpkin, watermelon/pearl laminate Zoom worm, can't remember which one, it has the ribbon tail, in two colors, green pumpkin, black/blue flake That's it.
  24. I have two Plano Edge boxes and use them. But in my kayak everything is in a Plano waterproof box. Mainly because if I drop it while it's still closed, or flip, which has never happened knock on wood, they'll float. You probably bought it for a great reason at the time.......now you forgot. It happens to me all the time! LOL
  25. I placed an order with TW this past Friday, everything I ordered is on stock. I got a shipping notice.......it's scheduled to ship, not get here, ship, this coming Friday. It is what it is.
