  1. That's why they call it FISHING, and as far as the engine hope its under warranty! 18lbs sounds low though right now for the Lake, how many boats?
  2. I would say Florida could if the FWC was as proactive as TX!
  3. 5 Shimano Crucial Rods (about $650 for 5 if you look for deals) and 5 Shimano Reels (You can get some older Citicas or E series Curados for about $90 to $130 on some auction sites and keep an eye on the Flea Market here, some awesome deals come up) Stick to Citica and above for baitcasters and Saro and above for spinners. 2 spinning outfits and 3 baitcasting outfits should cover about 99% of your bass fishing techniques.
  4. Until you vary retrieve speed or impart action on the lure, that's usually when I would hang up. Since you live in Wellington nearby PM your address and I will send you them free of charge.
  5. Red hook not a ploy, sometimes they do trigger bass. I was sight fishing some golf course ponds and throwing Senkos onto beds, my buddy had exact same Senko with black nickel finish and could not get them to bite dead sticking, I had red EWG and pulled them off the bed. One I recently fell for was the Backstabber lipless cranks, I bought 4 or so and after using one for a bit I haven't ever used it again, top hook catches line at times ANNOYING. If anyone is interested I will ship them to you for cost of shipping you can have them.
  6. Get this in 3 banks and never look back, trust me I have tried other competitors and returned every one of them under warranty and bought these as replacements NO ISSUES! http://www.dualpro.com/products/sportsman-series/
  7. I think both are good, if installing yourself Hamby's also makes a self install keel guard. I have a Hamby's custom install on one boat and a Keel Shield self install on the other. When self installing make sure you prep surface as the directions say and after it dries run a bead of 3m 5200 around the entire edge http://www.hambys.com/light-duty.html
  8. I describe the blowups as if someone threw a bowling ball next to your lure, that is how impressive they are!
  9. Almost impossible in my opinion to judge weight by pictures, i have seen bass that look less than 7 weigh close to 10 and bass that weigh in the 9lb class look like they weigh 6, but when its big EVERYONE says WOW! Just look at Big O's pics, all WOWS!
  10. We have a great forum here! Most members I have come across BR are pretty good about pointing you in right direction or even offering a seat in their boat for their respective body of water.
  11. Don't get one with Micro guides, although its my primary rod for frogging, I replace guides on it like my kid eats cheerios.
  12. http://www.amazon.com/s/190-9479090-6536458?ie=UTF8&field-keywords=3M%201700C&index=blended&link_code=qs&sourceid=Mozilla-search&tag=mozilla-20
  13. Plenty of good guides out of Roland Martin marina as well as some local that are on this forum that might be willing to extend a "friendly" trip for gas money and conversation... hint hint.
  14. Man I am going to upgrade my Chronarch to look like yours, NICE! Wish we weren't so busy (working on getting orders out now) so I can skip in line and get some custom gold stuff too! Glad your happy with the anodized parts, handles and bearing. Have you cast with the Chronarch D yet, should launch your lure pretty far?
  15. Come on Dwight, you fished out of my "backup boat" with Brett, lol!
  16. I had a great time fishing with you Jeff, the top-water BITE was insane. For everyone's information, he had two come unbuttoned that could have given the big fish a run for her money.
  17. Great real for tip heavy rods and its buttery smooth, I have one left and will KEEP IT!
  18. Been reading through the post again, interesting points of view. I used the bass to deer comparison as an analogy, albeit a bit flawed. In my opinion, its still a HUGE accomplishment to catch a WR LMB! Nevertheless, in my opinion as the IGFA evolves there should be a subcategory that recognizes record fish caught in their native range as well as world record class (see below quoted from fishwagon.com) "The largemouth bass is native only to North America, and its original range was generally the eastern half of the United States and southern Ontario and Quebec in Canada. The native range extended south from Iowa to Texas and northeastern Mexico, and east to the South Atlantic coast and western New York and Pennsylvania. Due to extensive stocking and the largemouth’s adaptable nature, it is now abundant throughout the Appalachian and Ozark Ranges, most of the northeastern U.S. from Maryland to Maine, and easternmost Canada. Since the late 1800s, its range has been expanded to include major or minor portions of every state in the U.S. except Alaska, and most of the southern fringes of Canada, as well as several regions in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean." So you would have an all tackle class world record and a native class record. There should also be a category for hybrid and crossbred species of the largemouth since genetic testing is advanced enough to know the record's origin (So a sub-category for pure Florida Strain, Pure Northern, etc.)
  19. How would you feel if a deer breeder used superior antler genetic deer, raised captive bucks/does for 3 years, fed them high protein food, provided them with thousands of acres to live a free range life and then allowed hunters to hunt the area for said deer when they turned 4-5 years old and a world record was taken on the land? I my opinion it would qualify for a world record on technical merit, but its not what was intended by nature. Its not any different than bass over the 21-22 lb mark being pursued for the sake of catching a weighty fish. Nevertheless, its still tough to fish or hunt and the chances of catching or harvesting a record deer or bass in an "unnatural" environment is still stacked against the hunter or angler.
  20. Jack of many trades, master of fishing, does that count?
  21. My top 4 1. Bass Cat Jaguar 21' 5" 2150 lbs 2. Ranger Z522 22' 4" 1940 lbs 3. Skeeter 22i 21'8" 2300 lbs 4. Triton 21XS 21' 7" 2000 lbs
  22. When you are a member of BR with thousands of post.
  23. Was surfing and came across these cool articles http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1089925_hennessey-puts-its-twin-turbo-hpe700-corvette-stingray-on-the-dyno-video http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2014/01/27/nissan-reveals-400-hp-three-cylinder-engine-for-lemans-racer/?intcmp=features I really like the Hennessey Upgrades, but its almost $70K with the upgrade options http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1085565_hennessey-reveals-upgrades-for-2014-chevy-corvette-stingray As far as Nissan powerplant, could you imagine that little engine a Z series car, power to weight would be sick compared to the standard 3.6L six they currently use.
