  1. Since we all know that the lake level is going to be disastrously low come late Winter, I wonder if FWC or SFWMD can be prodded to actually do something constructive like muck removal projects, burning off of thick vegetation and tilling flats , especially around Horse Island area, planting native aquatics, dredging/clearing of trails, etc. while the lake is low enough to work on it? I doubt it though budget cuts

  17. I have been betting the market to take a dip for a while now and was in on SPXU (3x SP Short) at $20.10 for a bit and was about to lick my wounds and call it since the market was on a tear leaving me second guessing myself, BOY DID THINGS CHANGE today, I was out at $21.13! Although the overall portfolio was HAMMERED, from commodities, especially emerging markets, only silver lining was ironically in longterm gvt (VGLT) and corporate (VCLT). I really like some of the better paying dividend stocks here, some of the yields are spectacular at these level with Altria aka Phillip Morris (MO) leading way, CLX, and PG all defensive plays but yield plays for sure. Gold was also dipping, strange...Martha Reeves and the Vandellas come to mind. How are you active traders doing?
  18. Tournament anglers did well this past weekend on a bunch of different patterns, I need to get out there soon. http://www.americanbassanglers.com/BWS/newsdetails.php?news_id=593
  19. Far west Dade and Broward county has them, not sure about the west coast.
  20. How many of you fellow BR members have upgraded your reel handles to ZPI or Bassart? I was thinking of getting one for my Shimano Chronarch to bling it out, but is it worth the extra cost, was the weight savings worth it? Also, how durable are those cork handles?
  21. I have been out with a herniated disc about 2 weeks now and have been going loony, as I alternate between laying on my back and on my side. Finally the epidural started kicking in and the past two days I have been able to sit and walk some, so first place I had to go was the local Gander Mountain, told my wife that I needed to look for some trail cams and climbing sticks for this years deer season, but somehow I managed to drift into the fishing department.....Anyway, with my rusty back and not being able to bend down and such I started thinking that its about time I get a landing net! Since I was a kid reading Bassmaster and watching tournaments, I have always thought true bass fisherman don't use nets and that lipping them was the only way, needless to say I have lost plenty of hawgs throughout my lifetime due to the Ray Scott sportsmanship factor, but the agony of bending over and not being able to walk due to back pain pushed me over the sportsmanship hump, plus all the FLW guys use them so now I am a proud owner of a Frabill Protech collapsible landing net with graphite shaft (FANCY ), got it for half off...I possibly would have walked out the door bad back and all if it wasn't.
  22. T-rig is my go to confidence lure, have caught more fish off a t-rigged worm than all other lures combined in my lifetime. If you think about it, flipping, pitching, punching, fluke, skinny dippers, etc are all variations of a T-rigged worm! Classic t-rig fishing for me is a 1/4oz bullet weight with a 3/0-5/0 hook and a 8-12" worm of choice! Old school for me was a Tru-Turn hook, an original bullet weight, and a Squirmin'worm, in purple fire-tail or black with chartreuse tail By the way does anyone here still use Tru-Turn hooks? I still have tons of Squirmin worms though, still deadly as every!
  23. How about this for a hyped up gimmick rod name: "Ultra Lite eXtreme Series Rod" Featuring SS micro guides with tungsten guide inserts Boron/graphite/kevlar weave blank Carbon fiber reel seat material and eXtremely durable EVA foam split grips
  24. Are you guys finding that your deer are all nocturnal still, any daytime pics coming through yet? I have a lease in GA and my brother says all the cams have only night time activity.
  25. Texas rigged worm with a rattle insert.
