Stradic VS Quantum Energy PTi
Texas Bass Pro I like quantum reels out of the box. I prefer them over my 2 stradic's however I have had a problem with them lasting. I have found that they breakdown quicker then the shimano's. I'm not a saint when it comes to maintance with my reels and that might be part of the problem. I still fish with 3 quantum's and 2 are fine and 1 is breaking down. The two that are fine are less the 2 years old and I haven't had a problem with them. The one that is going out is about 3 years old. My 2 stradic's are 4 and 5 years old and the work like the day I got them. I might just have a bad taste with quantum because I did a fly-in to Canada and took 2 quantum baitcasters with me and both broke on the first day. To be totaly honest if I didn't pay for my reels I would probley choose quantum. Since I pay for my reels and can't afford to replace them every couple of years I go with longevity.

Stradic VS Quantum Energy PTi
Out of the box they are both about equal but a few years down the road the stradic will still be fished and the energy won't. Shimano reels last and Quantum reels break down over time.

Jerkbaitin with Floro
Fluorocarbon is very sensitive bacause of the lack of streach. This is a pro of using fluorocarbon with a jeckbait. The other pro is that it is near invisable. The con is that fluorocarbon sinks and may affect the suspending action of the bait on long pauses. The other option is using a braid with a small fluorocarbon leader. I dislike extra knots and tying them aswell. I'm also going to use fluorocarbon for jerkbaits this year. The key is what you like and what works for you.

Which St. Croix Rod - Fiberglass or Graphite?
Avid St Croix TBC68MXF: What is the biggest spinnerbait you throw with it? Will that rod handle a 1/2 oz spinnerbait?

craw jig trailer mod
The claws hurt and the fish are not stupid they learn. They love crayfish and with one claw missing it's that much easier of a meal. It make perfect sence to remove a claw.

Plastic storage and organized?
I keep all my tackle in 3700 cases by bait type. Plastics are in the origanal bags with the exception of tubes and robo worms. My tackle bag will hold 13 cases and has two small side pockets. Tubes are in a case out of the package so its easy too find a color and rig faster. Robo worms are in a Falcon jerkbait case that will hold 14 different colors. This makes it easy to select colors more then anything. Before a go out fishing I will grab the 13 cases that I plan on using the most. All the other plastics that I might need are pulled out of there cases and put into a falcon worm bag. Spinnerbaits and buzzbaits are in falcon wallets that are attached to my bag with a caribeaner. I have my tube jig heads, round ball heads, football heads and shakey heads in 3 small plano boxes seperated by jig head type. These are placed into a falcon mag worm bag and they fit perfect. When I get onto the boat I have my rods, 1 tackle bag with 1 spinnerbait and 1 buzzbait wallet attached, and 2 worm bags. Some tackle will dry out if they are taken out of the bags and some will bleed. I'm really thinking about taking my grubs out of the package but I really think they will dry out. I fish as a co-angler in tournaments and most people can't believe how organized my tackle is. It is finding a system that fits your needs. What I do is take a bait at the store any find the case that best fits those baits. For example my 5in senkos and 4in senkos are in two different types of plano 3700 series boxes.

Drawbacks of EWG hooks?
If your settiing the hook so hard you breaking Gamakatsu EWG hooks use the Gamakatsu EWG Superline. If that hook breaks before your rod then let me know what rod your using. The regular gamakatsu EWG is a little thinner wire and will flex a bit in smaller hook sizes but I have never had one break. A use the gamakatsu EWG and EWG Superline but I use the owner rig & hook also. The wire thickness is between the EWG and Superline.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft - Questions?
roadwarrior Does the Yo-Zuri Hybrid sink as fast as pure fluocarbon? Would the Yo-Zuri sink rate effect jerkbaits or topwater? Do you use a braid with a Yo-Zuri leader for jerk baits? I'M SOLD !!!!! NEED TO ORDER SOME!!!!!!!

Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft - Questions?
roadwarrior Do you use Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft? Is it best to use Hybrid on casting gear and Hybrid Ultra Soft on spinning gear? Is there a need for a pure fluocarbon in deep clear water at all, like on a drop shot? Is Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft the do all line because it won't hurt my feelings to not buy another spool of pure fluocarbon again? (Yo-Zuri is alot less expensive)

St Croix vs G loomis
I'm more of a St Croix guy but G-Loomis makes great rods also. If your looking at the GLX don't compare it to the avid. The avid is a good rod and not to take anything away from it don't compare it to the GLX. The GLX is G-Loomis top of the line rod so to give you a true comparison, compare it to the St Croix Legend Elite. Compare St Croix's best vs. G-Loomis's best and then make your decision.
