  1. Lucky Craft, GYCB, and now Eakins Jigs are expensive but the bottom line is they all catch fish. I won't stop fishing any of them. Just wondering if there is a limit but I guess not if people keep buying them.
  2. Lets take my favorate finesse jig the eakins jig in 5/16. At bass pro shops the price was $5.29 in 2006 and has increased to $7.29 in 2007. This happens to other baits aswell, just not the eakins jigs. When does there became a limit?
  3. Why does is the lucky craft LV100 the only one in the series with a dorsal fin? Does it fish any different?
  4. Avid I agree 100% As soon as my jeckbait box is stuffed full of lucky crafts i'm giving my x-raps to the junior bass club. It's just a confidence thing!!!!!! Why fish a x-rap when you own pointers?
  5. Avid Okeechobe is in central florida south of Orlando (about 160 miles). The non-boater entry fee for the weekend angler tournaments are $100.00. I have not fished the lake before so thats about all the help I can give. I here its a great lake and alot of shows are taped on it. It's Roland Martins home lake.
  6. lightninrod: Thanks for the info I guess I need to just buy some and try them out. What rod do you prefer with this bait M,MH,H ect.? A orignal senko I prefer a 7 foot med. with a fast action when fished weightless. This might be to light with the weight and faster action they need to be fished at. What colors do you prefer? More of a shad color because of the swimming action?
  7. I was looking at the swimming senko last night at the store. To me it looks like it would work nothing like a senko. It's going to be a much faster moving bait then the senko and it's very tail heavy. This is right on the mark of what Gary Yamamoto was looking for when he created this new bait. Alot of the articals say to use a screw-in weight with this bait. WOULD A PEG WORK BETTER THEN A SCREW-IN WEIGHT DO TO THE FACT THAT GYCB ARE SUCH A SOFT BAIT THAT TEND TO BREAK APART EASY?
  8. I would agree that on a small lake or in a small tournament boat motor size makes alot less of a difference. However, In a large tournament on big water it makes all the difference. The example that came to my mind was the 2006 bassmasters classic. Take the winner Luke Clausen, he was fishing on the far end of Lake Kissimmee and the launch was on Lake Toho. Everday of the tournament he made this run there and back -across Lake Toho to the southport locks and the locks only hold a certain number of boats. If he was running a 50hp motor he might of needed to wait costing him important time. (the florida guys might help me out on how many boats the lock holds) -once the lock opens he would run down Southport Canal -then across Lake Cypress -down Hatchineha Canal -across Lake Hatchineha -past Camp Mack on the Kissimmee River -into Lake Kissimmee -now he needed to run the hole length of Lake Kissimmee to the spot he fished the hole tournament. This is a long run and Luke did it every day of the tournament. I have made only parts of this run and it is a long ways. (if the florida guys would be so kind to help me out once again with the miles) Now im not saying that this run cant be done with a 50hp motor but I am saying that it will take you a lot longer with one. We all know that time is money when it comes to fishing tournaments because when your line is not in the water you cant catch fish. With only a 50hp motor your probley in a smaller boat with a smaller gas tank. You might need to stop and get gas at some point costing you more time. COULD LUKE HAVE WON THE CLASSIC RUNNING A 50hp MOTOR? COULD LUKE HAVE WON THE CLASSIC ONLY FISHING IN TOHO BY PUT IN? I DONT KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Reading alot of the replies I here where we all are coming from. We all have tournament fished and understanded that if conditions are right anyone can catch fish (5 fish). It's easier said then done but when the temp. is in the 30's and the water temp. is in the 40's. The wind is blowing 30 mpr. Your eyes are iceing up and only 1 or 2 bass will put you into the top ten it is a hole new story. We all fish on these type of days because we are tournament anglers and we love what we do.
  10. ROAD WARRIOR Thanks for the help thank god for web searches. By the way nice pair!!!! BIG, HEAVEY, and FUN TO LAND
  11. google GARY YAMAMOTO CUSTOM BAITS
  12. road warrior how small of a hook can you go with for smallies on a regular ika?
  13. One way to do it is join a local bass club. They have tournaments to let you know were your at. Most clubs are for learning and development. Most the clubs are assiotated bass, flw, ect. If your club is with bass you can fish the federation tournaments. A example would be that you would fish a tournament or series of tournaments to make the state team. Then the state team will fish a regional tournament with all the other state team members in your region. Only the top team member from each state advances to the national tournament. At the national tournament the top one out of each region will advance to the bassmasters classic. (I may have left out a step) but thats somewhat the format. The federation is one of the hardest was to make the classic.
  14. Im going with st. croix legend tournament rods. Daiwa team X super-tuned bait casters and shimano stradic spinning reels. Any suggestions? I'm looking for a new crankbait rod and the only way to get the st croix is to order it without feeling it first so I thought about changing to the G loomis for only the crankbait rod?
  15. Is there a any reason to go with all the same companies or modles of rods and reels. What are the pro's and con's if any?
  16. NO but can't hurt to try. I think that there has been a post before about them. I GUESS IM NO HELP!
  17. I fish them on a shakey head. I have read about some pros fishing them on a carolina rig but I have not tried it.
  18. When fishing a jerkbait the one guy in the boat can be catching fish and the other can not even get a bit. It's because of the cadence and if your the one not catching the fish you better watch the other guy and find out what it is. The first tournament of last year my boater ran away with the win, he was letting his stacyee sit still for up to two min. Thats easer said then done it takes alot of patience. I didnt have the color he was using and thats part of it also. I HAVE THAT COLOR NOW.
  19. WELL PUT!!!!!! What I do is only buy 1 lucky craft and a pack of plastics and it comes to $20.00. One time I grabed about 10 lucky crafts and on the way to the cash register I thought about the $200.00 it was going cost and about had heart attack. WORTH THE PRICE!!!!!!!!
  20. When fishing for smallies I use the 4in senko most of the time. I use 2/0 EWG texas rigged weightless. I will even use a 3in senko at night on the dam with a 1/0 EWG. My #1 way to fish a 4in senko is on a reaction innovation screwed up jig head or Any shakey head will work and at night is the best. It dosent seem like it would work because of the lack of action but it does.
  21. I agree!!!!!!! Its hard to pay $15 to $20 to try a new color or type of bait.

Robo Worms are my go to drop shot bait. I fish the worms, leeches, and the scullpins. I do have a couple problems someone might be able to help me out with. The first one is I have way to many colors and I alway second guess my choice which results in a lose of confidence. The second is the storage, I have been leaving them in the bags rolling them up and placing them in my box. The problem with this is that there stacked 4 to 5 deep and finding a color is hard. I need to take them out of the box and open each one up just to find ther color I'm looking for. I just changed and I'm trying a falcon jerk bait box and removing them from the bags. It makes finding the color I'm looking for a lot easier. It holds 14 different colors so I guess its SOL for the less used colors. This was a winter project and have not been on the water using the new system yet. STILL LOOKING FOR ANY BETTER WAYS
  23. Reaction innovations screwed-up jig heads is my choice. They are a little expensive. The only problem I have had with them is the spring keeper may break when landing a fish. In a tournament I don't care about the price of a jig head. I have never lost a fish on one because the keeper broke. They come in black and grn pmk.
