  1. cabela10 I don't believe he is fishing in the classic. Also if you look at his profile for the flw he is fishing this year as a pro in the flw tour. However, he has only fished in the past as a co-angler in the flw tour. He is taking the next step and if he is fishing the classic through the federation he would of started the process over a year and a half ago. He would of fished to make his state team in the spring of 2005. Then fished the regional tournament in 2006 to qualify for the 2007 national tournament. He finished 7th and was not the top angler out of his region. Brent long got the classic berth out of the southern region. If he was the top guy out of his region he would fish the 2007 classic. The main point that I'm getting at is making the classic as a federation angler is a long process. During this time he took the next step to become a professional angler. If he would of made the classic it would have been a process that started in 2005 and you can't hold that against him for taking the next step. When the federation process started he was not fishing as a pro in the flw.
  2. Cabela10 Give some details!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Avid I haven't fished the slender pointers for LM much but there about the only ones I use for SM. I would think that your better off just fishing the regular pointers for LM. The is a lot of grass where you fish and the extra hook maybe more of a pain then bonus. The regular pointers has that larger profile that those BIG Florida bass love. I fish the slender pointers around rocks (smallies) and regular pointers around grass (largemouth). This is just what I have found that works best for me.
  4. I use both at times but I really don't think it makes a huge difference. I will only place them on the front of a bait. I don't want to draw any attention to anything except the middle (sweet spot) of the bait. I don't want the fish to hit the rear hook so if the red promotes a strike I want it to be on the front hook. I think if it is true that red disappears at nine feet then it may make a difference in shallow water. I will use red hooks when fishing plastics at times also. This is just to change up and to give me added confience and focus. It also give the bait a different look even though it might be so slight. I don't really believe in the whole blood trail thing. Thats just my opinion and many people believe different things about fishing with red hooks.
  5. He got me today also he put a new set of BPS 100mph gore-tex into my basket!! ;D
  6. I have to go with senko77 choice of the Owner Rig N' Hook. The 2/0 an 3/0 will work for almost every plastic. The EWG is a nice choose aswell and they come in red.
  7. I was going to say Daiwa Sol or the Shimano Chronarch CH50MG. They both would be great finesse baitcaster for 8lb fluorocarbon and small baits. The two might be a little out of your price range.
  8. Deuceu72 I agree with you I just couldn't believe what I was reading. I remember KVD saying on one of his shows that he uses a palomar knot on everything except topwater. Time is counting down till the SQT good luck!!
  9. I was reading Bassin Mag. yesterday and I come across a quote in a artical that was interesting. The artical was Pitching & Flipping Tricks by Margie Anderson. In the artical it was talking about line and tackle. There was a quote from Aaron Martens "First of all, no matter what anybody tells you, the Palomar knot is the worst knot in the world to use with fluorocarbon line," Martens says. "It breaks." I was just wondering what everyone thought about this? Has anyone found this to be true?
  10. RW No need to be sorry to me just the bait monkey for not having them yet. You will love the slender pointers. I know you fish for a lot of smallies and they are the ticket. The color I have caught the most fish on is the ghost minnow. Reading alot of your posts I know your big on the larger pointers like the 128's. I need to pick some of the larger pointer and the slender pointers. Tacoman Your eyes are not going bad the price is $17.99 and $18.99 for he slender pointers. They are worth the money as long as you don't lose one on the first cast.
  11. Talking to a fishing manger at Bass Pro Shops he said that they will never carry Reaction Innovation baits. They won't carry them at least till RI changes their packaging because of the pictures and names of the baits. This has to do with BPS hole focus on kids and youth and the outdoors. Tackle warehouse has a deal where you buy so much product and they will waive the shipping fee. I don't know if they do it for over seas shipping.
  12. Capt. Cali I would agree with you that the flirt is alot harder to find then the roboworms. I fish the roboworms on a dropshot and the flirts on a shakey head. I have not tried a roboworm on a shakey head yet. What worm and jig head do you usally use?
  13. This year our club has gone to having a scale in every boat . After the fish is boated it is placed in a mesh bag and weighed. The fish is then released and both angles sign off on the weight.

  15. Reaction Innovations Flirt is a great bait I fish them on there screwed up jighead. There one of my go to shakey head baits.
  16. RW On alot my posts I have been saying that the slender pointer was my #1 jerkbait. There a great bait with the 3 trebles and slender profile. The smallies can't resist these baits. The other bait I use alot is the staysee. The staysee and the slender pointer profile looks almost the same. After I started fishing the slender pointer I hardly fish any x-raps, husky jerks, or rogues.
  17. 1. Worm: Culprit 2. Stickbait: GYCB Senko 3. Fluke: Zoom Super Fluke 4. Craw: Zoom Lil Critter Craw 5. Tube: Crooked Creek 6. Creature: Zoom Baby Brush Hog / Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver 7. Frog: Stanley Ribbit 8. Grub: GYCB Grub 9. Lizard: Zoom 10. Other: Zoom Finesse Worm 11. Drop Shot Bait: Roboworm
  18. Fluorocarbon is a very sensitive line because of the lack of stretch. Mono has alot more stretch causing it to be less sensitive. You will detect alot more hits with the fluorocarbon then with mono. The other bonus is that fluorocarbon is alot less visable then mono. This will helps on longer pauses needed early in the spring when the water is cold.
  19. I looked at both of the rods this year when I bought a new drop shot rod. I ended up buying the St. Croix Legend Tournament Drop Shot Rod (spinning). It's 6'9" ML with a X-fast action you might want to take a look at that rod also. They also make a casting drop shot rod.
  20. You really don't understand and I hope I never draw you as a non-boater. I'm not taking sides on this one. ;D ;D ;D I do believe that this topic has a very fine line. 1. If you prefish together or find the spot together both of you the right to the spot. 2. If one of you shows the other one the spot only the person who found the stop has the right to the spot. 3. If your non-boater shows you a spot that his boater fished the day before you shouldn't have rights to the water. 4. If your fishing a spot and another boat sees you leave that spot they have a right to fish that water after you leave. This is just a couple of situations!!!
  21. Each club is different but in the club I belong to splits the day in half. The non-boater has the right to half the day in control. He can run the trolling motor and fish his locations. There are alot of very good anglers that fish club tournaments. There are also alot of very good anglers that fish as non-boaters aswell. In all the club tournaments I fished there was not one time I didn't fish from the front of the boat as a non-boater (if the boat size would hold 2 anglers in front). You can fish a couple of tournament as a non-boater and if you don't like it you can switch to being a boater. There are alot of boaters in my club that a hope to draw and there are non-boaters that I would like to fish with also. There are some better then others but thats just the way it goes. I fish my club tournaments as a non-boater because I can just fish.
  22. I keep 90% of my plastics in the bags. I have taken my small tubes, roboworms, and grubs out of the bags and put them in plano 3600 boxes. Is speeds up the riging process and makes it easier to select a color. By taking them out of the bag I can fit more colors into a box. Now I don't need to dig 2 or 3 deep for a color. Last year I only had tubes out of the bags and it worked good. I will see this year how the roboworm and grubs workout. I did keep the plastic bags so if I dont like it I can put them back into the bags.
