  2. I think avid has the right idea with the c-rig. I would ask the boater in a nice way if they could pull off the shore. If he don't then I would throw a c-rig behind the boat. You probley won't catch alot of fish but the ones you do should be quality ones. When you hang up make your boater stop to get you rig undone. After a couple of hangups he'll give you some fishable water.

  4. I agree I'm mainly a Diawa guy but I do fish some Shimano and Quantum in spinning reels.
  5. For only $30 it be worth it thats only 2 LC's. If you like the rod buy it and try it out. It might be a good rod to throw in the back of the truck and if it gets damaged your not out much. Might be a good beater rod or on the other had you might not need another rod and want 2 more Lucky Crafts. Thats just my way of thinking.
  6. c_diesel2 I have a Shimano Curado CU-200B38 3.8:1 I will sell you. I got it new last summer and only used it once or twice. It's in perfect condition if you interested PM me. I'll let it go for a very cheap price probley around $60.
  7. #1 Reaction Innovation screwed up jig head (my #1 shakey head but expensive) #2 Bite-Me jig head (only heads I have found good for 3X worms) #3 Home Made Shakey Jig (cheap) * Spot Remover pro model (trying them out this spring) * Ikey Heads (trying them out this spring) I like the spring keeper it doesn't let the bait slip and there is no glue needed.
  8. ? TO ASK YOUR BOATER!!!!! 1. What kind and size of boat they have? (smaller the boat the less tackle) 2. Do they have a empty storage compartment? (for your rain gear, extra tackle and lunch) 3. Does there boat have a cooler? (don't put to much into the cooler) 4. Do they care if you fish off the front deck? (depends on size of boat and tournament rules) 5. Whats there plan is for they day? (gives you a idea of the type of fishing you'll be doing) 6. Do they have anything that you need to watch out for or need to know? 7. Ask the boater about neting fish HELPFUL TIPS 1. Bring a life vest. (they might not have one that will fit you or you might be wearing a orange one) 2. Don't grab the wind shields. (they break easy) 3. Don't have your tackle all over the boat. 4. If you don't feel comfortable about backing the boat down let your boater know. 5. When your boater is ready to move buckle up and get ready to go. 6. Offer money for gas, oil, ect. 7. Ask before smoking or chewing on the boat. 8. Have rain/cold weather gear. (they will not go in because you cold or wet) 9. Help wipe down the boat after the tournament. 10. Thank the boater at the end of the day. 11. If the boater asks for the net stop what your doing and grab the net ASAP. This is just a few things that may help!!!!

Avid Very nice day!!!! Still frozen in up here!!!
  10. Fluorocarbon line is something you are going to need to fish and make a decision for yourself if its right for you. You need to look at the pros and cons of the line and see what out weights the other. I have been messing with them for a couple of years and I still haven't figured them out. I believe that they have a purpose and there is alot of positives but there is also negitives. There is alot of copolomer lines on the market that are easier to work with then a pure fluorocarbon. There is still situations that fluorocarbon will excel. Try it out and see what works best for you. #1 The more expensive brands seem to be more supple and easier to work with (not as stiff and has less memory). I would still suggest a line conditioner with any brand. #2 Fluorocarbon is what the companies call a virtually invisible line not a invisible line so the larger the diamater the more visible the line. If your going to try the Fluorocarbon out I would suggest using: (spinning gear) 6lb Seaguar InvizX or 6lb P-Line Fluorocarbon (Sportsman Warehouse has it in bulk spools for a reasonable price) I have not fished Sunline but hear good things. I would use KVD line conditioner and it will help.
  11. I love fishing a jig and I never go out without one tied on. I fish a finesse jig 90% of the time and I use a craw trailer 80% of the time. Experimenting with jigs and trailers is on my to do list this spring. There is so many ways to fish a jig that it makes them a bait that can be fished all year long. The other bait that I always have tied on is a tube. I mainly fish for smallies and the jig and tube are a must. I use a senko as a situational bait and they a be deadly at times. A senko has a action all of its own and there is no other bait what has its action. Buy a couple of packs of senkos and the bait monkey will be happy and so will you.
  12. Nice pics looks like a great day. I hate thin ice good ice or bad ice I'm 250 and it freaks me out.
  13. I his book Fishing On The Edge he talks about the meanning of each tattoo. If your a Iaconelli fan or not is a good read. I would like to see his tattoos up close in the mag. I respect the art and I don't even have one.
  14. I have several packs of the 3X worms. I got the at the bargain price of .97 also. They are great on a shakey head if you can spend the time to rig them. They are a pain to rig. The Bite-Me jig head is about the only head that I have found that makes rigging them somewhat ok. The 3X worm is what put the Bite-Me ball heads on the map when KVD caught a 11+ fish using that combo. Any of the shakey heads with a spring keeper will not work for this bait and either will the spot remover keeper. The 3X worm looks great in the water. Try them out and see if you like them and if you don't you'll see why the stores are selling the for .97. I have never rigged one the water during a tournament I always go back to Zoom and Reaction Innovation.
  15. Cabela10 I think thats going to be about right!!! (50lbs.)
  16. KU Colorado is no better for the weather. I've not seen snow on the ground for this long in a very long time. We do need the water so I guess we shouldn't complain to much. Was looking at tournaments for this year and one is the second week in march. It might be a ice fishing tournament the way things are going. I just need to get on a plane and head to Florida.
  17. Cabela10 Very nice artical!!!! I fish tournaments as a non-boater by choose. I have a boat set up for walleye that I have fished out of in tournaments. I pre fish out of it all the time and don't have any problem catching fish. It's the fisherman not the boat that makes a good angler.
  18. I use rattles in stained or muddy water and at NIGHT!!!!!
