  1. I can't wait to watch I have watched last years matches about 10 times each. I would say it will be a toss-up but I must say Luke Clausen is my front runner.
  2. I have a chance to get a Johnny Morris Elite 7'0 MH for a good price. I fish St. Croix Legend Elite and Legend Tournaments now. I have never fished a Bass Pro Shops rod and need some advice and feedback on this rod. I have not fished with the recoil guides so some feedback on them would help also. What would everyones choice be on the JOHNNY MORRIS ELITE VS ST CROIX AVID (the avid would be a little more in price). THANKS FOR THE INPUT!!!!
  3. Just buy the GYCB senko's and save yourself the time there isn't another bait or knockoff that comes close. Just my 2 cents!!!!!!!
  4. I don't eat on the water and half of the time I hardly drink anything either. I know that it is really bad. I about paid for it at a tournament last month. I worked till about 12:30 at night and went home loaded up for the drive. Eat a small breakfast before take off. I didn't eat or drink anything till after weight in on top of having no sleep. By that time it was almost to late I about passed out on the way home.
  5. Tubes and more tubes!!!!
  6. I fish the senko t-rigged in the weeds and wacky out of the weeds. You can find weedless hooks for wacky rigging.
  7. Many pro's will tell you that the palomar knot is the worst knot you can use with fluorocarbon. I have never had a problem with the knot and breaking off using the line. What fluorocarbon are you using? There was a fluorocarbon line test posted a while back that talks about the best fluo for a palomar knot. I also posted a thread about a artical that said that it was the worst knot to use with flou. The topic was talked about in feb. the title was Aaron Martens Quote About Fluocarbon and Palomar Knots.
  8. Wet the knot and line before pulling it tight. Without the line being wet the line will rub together and cause friction. This will weakin the line and cause the line to break much easier. There is no need to change knots or line.
  9. 2 1/2in Crooked Creek Tube (Green Pumpkin) Lucky Craft (Ghost Minnow) Staysee 5in GYCB Senko (Green Pumpkin/Watermelon) Eakins Jig (Brown) w/ Zoom Lil Critter Craw Trailer (Green Pumpkin)
  10. What hooks does everyone use on texas rigged tube?
  11. Looks like a great day!!!!!!

Our club went to weighting the fish on the boat this year. The fish is boated placed into a weight bag that is first dunked into the water to cool the bag. The bag and fish is then weighted and released without touching the fish again. Both the boater and non-boater agree on the weight and record it onto a card. It seems to be going really well to not stress the fish. Avid, I would like to see if the highest % of mortality is when the water temp is at a high and what degree of water temp.
  13. I tried to listen open minded to your point!!! But let me ask you a ? in return. Have you ever used a upper end or top of the line rod? By what you said, I would say NO. I'm a St. Croix guy and not a loomis user so I can't speak directly about there rods. I can talk about rod sensitivity and a top of the line rod makes all the difference. This is extreamly true when the water is cold and you need to down size and use lighter weights. It's usally cold out and you need to work hard to catch the fish but your probley not fishing when the conditions are not perfect. So, I guess you wouldn't need a sensitive rod.
  14. The advice I will give you is to buy the best you can the first time. If you don't you will be buying it again before long.
  15. Another black eye for the tournament angler. Don't you think?
  16. Start by looking for a local club in the area. By joining a club you can learn alot and meet new people. You can find alot of tournaments in your area on the web. One place you can start is on the ABA website. I know they have touraments in your area the toho district is division 23 and the director is Craig Maxwell. In central Florida your going to have a number of choices.
  17. That rod is the right rod for the job!!!! That rod is the do it all rod from jerkbaits, small jigs, tubes, spinnerbaits, plastics of all kind and YES top water. If I could only fish 1 casting rod this would be the one. The St. Croix (TB68MXF) would be the 1 spinning rod if I could only have one of them.
  18. Agree and I would add the avid for one step up.
  19. Mono and I would use a co-poly before Fluo.!!! Just my 2 cents!!
  20. Lead head with hook exposed whenever alot of weeds are not present or texas rigged for a weedless presentation.
  21. You got me hooked on that line! Seaguar is about all I use now and when bass pro was out of 15lb I about cried when I had to buy the Pline before last weeks tournament. :'( :'( Thats how sold I'm on the seaguar line because I have used Pline for years.
  22. Combo C: but I would go with the TBC70MHF (Sweeper Spinnerbait) and the TBS68MXF. The 7ft sweeper spinnerbait rod will give you longer casts and better hook sets from shore then the 6'6'' jig and worm rod.
  23. Just go out and buy a 7ft med st. croix legend with a mod. action and put a diawa sol on it with a 10lb low dia line and it will throw the 1/4 oz baits like a champ. THATS RIGHT MONEY DONT GROW ON TREES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
  24. The IMX and Legend Elite are not the same price. The GLX and Legend Elite are and the IMX and Legend Tournament are around the same price. I'm a St Croix guy so I won't be any help on this topic. I will say that St. Croix and G Loomis are both great companies and both make great rods. You can't go wrong with either one.
