Ultimate Match Fishing College Edition
I watched this week show and didn't think it was to bad. It was between PSU and WU. They did have a hard time talking and fishing at the same time. I think that alot of us would have the same problems. The cameras, fishing on TV, a pro watching, a tournament with a different format, and not to mention the winds that they were dealing with. The one thing that was somewhat impressive to me is that they were fishing off shore. There is alot of fisherman out there that can't fish offshore, or at least with success. Most fisherman get on the lake and pound the bank. The one angler during prefishing did some dives to look at the structure. The one angler also used a hand held GPS when he was in the front of the boat. Overall, I didn't think it was to bad you just need to keep in mind that there not pro's. They don't have the experince of running the boat, takling to the cameras, and fishing at the same time.

Shimano or Diawa
It's all about what you like because they both make great reels. My choice is Daiwa.

The good deal trap!!!
I read alot of posts and I see it all the time, someone seeing a good deal or what they might think is a good deal and they make a spare of the moment buy. After it is all said and done the only one that is happy most of the time is the bait monkey. This has happened to me a time or two. Matter of fact I have been dealing with it all week long. I found chronach reels on sale for 180.00 from 265.00. This is a great deal on great reels. However, I'm a Daiwa guy and I almost made a switch that I don't know if I would have been happy with in the long run. The bait monkey is a powerful dude and there is times I really need to watch out for him. The bait monkey has helped me through some great buys and also some that I have not been to happy with. Has this ever happened to you and what positive and negitives has came from it?

Rod for jerkbaits
St Croix premier glass crankbait rod is my choice. It comes in 6 1/2 and 7 foot with a medium power and a mod fast action.
-
St. Croix Premier Glass Crankbait Rods
What type of crankbaits are you going to be throwing? That rod is great for lipless cranks and bigger deeper cranks. It's also a great rod for jerkbaits. The rod has a little stiffer tip then most glass rods because it's a mod. fast action.

Tube Bait?
I use a 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 tube with a exposed hook about 80% of the time. It all debends on the cover I'm fishing. For a exposed hook I use a tube head in 1/16, 1/8, and 3/16oz most of the time. I use either a 2/0 or 3/0 ultra point hook. I have a guy that will poor any type of head and hook combo you want and I also use his brand tubes. I fish these tubes on spinning rods, St. Croix ES68MXF or a ES70MF. If I'm fishing light cover I will use a stupid head rig with the lead head weight inside the tube with the hook coming out the side and then tex-posed back into the tube. I like to use a softer thinner walled tube when fishing this tech. I will use the same rods as above. I try to keep the weight inside the tube as much as possable as well as having a exposed hook for better hook-up ratio. If I'm fishing heavy cover I will us a 3 1/2 inch and on up size tube. I will rig the tube with a 4/0 or 5/0 g-lock or a owner wide gap plus hook. I use a tru tungsten weight because it is smaller and makes the bait look more natrual then lead. I will pitch tubes into heavy cover on casting gear using a St. Croix TB70MHF.

Bassmasters vs. FLW
Are you talking about how BASS just told the junior championship qualifers that they will not be fishing with the pros at the classic and changed the dates? I know that alot of people are not very happy at all. What have you heard in your part of the country?

SPRO Lures--Any Good?
I fish there frogs and lipless cranknbaits and they are worth trying. The o-rings and swivels are some of the best you can buy. IMO

senko worms: texas or wacky rigged
I like your way of thinking!!!!
-
Lucky Craft or Jackall
I would say at this time Lucky Craft. I have a few Jackall baits but have not given them a fair chance yet.
-
senko worms: texas or wacky rigged
Texas and wacky I just ask the fish what they want ;D ;D
-
tungsten? fad?
Tungsten is the only weight to use when your in contact with the bottom. I use them with all t-rigs and recently drop shots. The size is great and doesn't over power the apperance of the bait. Alot of people or using them for c-rigging in grass because of the slender weight comes through better.

Is this a good combo
I all depends what your looking for in a rod and reel. To be honest with you I would say no for myself but everyone is different. The ? is what type of fishing are you going to be doing and at what level. I was once told a long time ago when it comes to hunting and fishing equipment to spend as much as you can on the best you can the first time. If not you'll be replacing it and it will end up costing you more $ in the long run.

Co-Angler Advice
Keep a open mind when in the back of the boat. If you don't think that the spot your fishing doesn't have a snowballs chance of having a fish on it you probley won't catch a fish. You need to fish with confidence out of the back of the boat. Tin2win is right it does have alot to due with your draw also you hope you draw someone that is on fish. As for what baits to use from the back just use a bait that fishes the boat speed that the boater is fishing. Then fish the same bait you would fish if you were in the front of the boat.

Poor product warning- Reaction Innovation Jig Head
I don't mind using the Reaction Innovations Screwed Up jig heads. I have broke the spring off before but I have never lost a fish on that head. That gives me confidence when on the water fishing. However, I do only use these heads in tounaments and not when i'm out fun fishing because they are pricey. During a tournament I will replace jig heads due to the spring breaking as long as I'm not losing fish because of it.
