My kid finally started playing hockey so that means I can't do Sunday nights or Wednesday nights, but it's a little earlier so Saturday night is fair game, or the week after.

Right, if everyone uses bait X, then the number of fish caught on the said bait is likely to be higher simply due to being fished more often, unless it doesn't work. At the same time if it doesn't work, then I don't think so many people would be using it. It's more indicative of what generally works for people as a whole group and how the group's thought process changes in different situations. I thought it was a rather interesting analysis overall more so than a "guide per say". But then if you're a beginner and from up north and watching this and you decide to fish a drop shot more because drop shots tend to work well up north, or throw a deep diving crankbait more in deep water or whatever it is, you're not entirely getting steering the wrong direction either.

Some interesting breakdowns on BassMaster tournaments in regards to fishing style and techniques. This is definitely an interesting watch.

I haven't heard of these specifically, but I have a friend who fishes essentially out of a non-motorized version and added his own trolling motor. He also owns a jon boat unless he sold it but that just sits since he got it.

I'm waiting to see a Helix vs GT56 comparison. The GT56 images I posted look fantastic! I'm not sure if it's better than the Helix still, but the GT54 closed the gap a bit and the 56 at least closes it a whole lot more.

The GT56 is definitely has better clarity and contrast, especially from 40 feet out and more so at past 60 feet out. In closer proximity, the difference isn't too terribly significant but this kind of makes it tempted to upgrade my transducer as soon as the GT56s are available for sale (even though I bought my EchoMap UHD with a GT54 last year). The greatest benefit should come with Sidevu, as seen in these videos the GT54 has a strong return up to 40 feet out, and it disappears right after 60 ft where the GT56 is still going strong. That said, BassPro had an EchoMap UHD with the GT54 for $600 a week ago. You can buy that and buy a GT56 transducer for the full retail price of a new one and sell the GT54 and get maybe $200 back.

I typically carry three colors of trailers, but most of them are a green pumpkin color. I will also have a brown and brown. I can use a green pumpkin trailer with green pumpkin or brown colored jigs and that ends up looking fairly natural even though it doesn't match exactly. Color is about the last thing I think of when I'm jig fishing, I'll just try to keep it natural and focus on more important things like where the fish are and which presentation is going to work for me today.

If it's a M/F on the heavy side, then you can use it for lightly weighted T-Rigs, 3/8 spinnerbaits and 3/8oz chatterbaits, smaller paddletail swim baits, squarebills and finesse jigs. Basically rods in this range may be labeled medium or medium heavy - think of it as medium heavy lite. If it's on the lighter side, then it gets the nod for lighter soft plastics, wacky rigged soft plastics, jerkbaits, poppers, crankbaits, tubes, and those smaller swimbaits and finesse jigs with really light wire hooks.

Alright, it's that time again! I realize I'm a little bit behind here (this week is my birthday so I've been a little busy) so my apologies. So, how does Sunday at 7pm eastern time work for everyone?

My favorite rod for jerkbaits that I own is my St Croix Mojo Bass 6'8" M/XF topwater rod. Don't let the extra fast fool you, this rod is a true medium so it has a fair amount of bend, but it bends throughout the rod so it's not too stuff. The reason I like this rod is that when you get a bite on a twitch you can really feel it. Where with a more moderate rod, sometimes by the time I realize I had a bite I lose the fish. It's also short so I don't have a problem hitting the edge of my kayak.

The Tatula Frog rod is a little too much of a broomstick for jigs. You could probably flip in a pinch, but it's not the best option. You'll have no trouble pulling them out from the thickest of cover, and it casts nicely too. For an all around heavy rod, I like the Dobyns 735C. It has a little bit less tip so you can cast but it's designed for flipping, so it's a pretty versatile rod. I'd recommend the Sierra which is in the price range of the Tatula although if you have the money to spend, you can step up to the Champion XP.

I've been using 15lb Berkley Trilene Fluorocarbon (which runs fat) for both lures with no problems.

If you have a lot of cover, a H/F would make sense. If you don't, then a M/F for weightless soft plastics would be the way to go.

It sounds to me like you had a problem and you solved it.

I have the Bass Mafia terminal tackle box. Overall it's a great box and I fit most things in it, but I could use a few more compartments in the front, as it's full but I still haven't sorted out my new purchases. I believe I have my ned rig heads and/or drop shot weights separated by size, so I may have to just put them in together and that would work. The major downside of this box is the smaller dropshot weights will often fall out of their compartment, and they're too small for the hook boxes.

I have stuck with my trusty Project Z and original chatterbaits so far, but eventually I am going to give in and buy some jackhammers. I consistently hear they straight up work. From what I've heard fairly consistently that they are on par with a Project Z in stained or dirty water, but they work better in clear water, which is the majority of the water that I fish.

4 rod setup: M/F or ML/XF spinning rod for finesse M/F or MH/MF casting rod for moving baits. M/F for weightless soft plastics, MH/MF for deep divers or heavier chatterbaits or spinnerbaits MH/F casting rod for trigs/jigs H/F rod for jigs in cover and frogs.

I would honestly get a Tatula Elite over a Tatula SV for cranking as it will cast further. I don't really have much of a need for the SV for crankbaits but the extra casting distance is nice.

How much better is subjective, but the Expride is undoubtedly a better value and a $230 Expride is a steal. One thing to consider is the GLoomis MBRs do make very good jig rods.
