if you can catch trout on lures and other baits, why should you have to use a flyrod? i agree that on rivers that permits only flyfishing only fly's or nimph's should be used. there is nothing better better then catching a big trout on a lure!

Abu Garcia makes some nice spinners. i dont use them much but for trout they work well.

Buy the herring in your supermarket.

It all depends on the type of fishing you do. If you fish plastics i recomend power pro.(20lb) Some of the guys will now say, no,no, use suffix braid, but the brand is up to you. For cranking i use mono.(10lb-14lb)Sunline Defier and Suffix Siege.

everyone says that suffix braid is the best but i still use power pro without any problems. i also use suffix siege and it is a good line for cranking. the best line i used for cranking, i must say, is sunline defier!

You might catch a male duck with it, but seriously it probably would work on the right conditions but then bass will hit almost anything like allready mentioned. It would look better on a shelf then in a tacklebox.

The guy is full of crap! He probably wants you to buy a fly fishing outfit from him! Try spoons like the Little Cleo (I dont even know if they make those anymore) or Abu Garcia Toby or any other metal spoon. Silver seems to work best. You can also try bigger Mepps spinners, size 3 or 4. Hope that helps.
