  1. Gonna try to head to La Cygne over Labor Day weekend. Anyone have any suggestions or structure/cover maps to share?
  2. What about fluoro with a braid leader? It’s different and something the bass don’t usually see, so it’ll have to work.
  3. I have no idea about what parts cosmetic or performance cost, so I have no reference as far as parts are concerned as to what is cheap vs. expensive.
  4. Definitely not wanting a Ferrari out of Tat SV. I would probably wait to start with a Steez or SV103 to do that. Mostly just looking to make it match my all silver Tatula Elite rod a little better and maybe get a little more casting distance out of it for fishing deep structure.
  5. I doubt that the relationship is linear. Probably exponential, probably by at least a factor of 2.
  6. ^^This is a foreign language to me. Haha.^^ However, now I have something to learn about. Thanks.
  7. I have had success with prolonging my bait use with a wacky saddle, kind of like this... https://www.cabelas.com/product/FREDS-WACKY-SADDLE-O-RINGS/2429094.uts
  8. Here and there I see guys talking about switching out bearings, spools and accessories to "pimp out" there reels. Where is a good place to start when thinking about these kinds of things? Where are good places to get parts? For the most part are these mods simple enough for everyday anglers to do without risking damage to the reels? Specifically, I am interested in making some changes to a couple of Daiwa Tatula SV 8.1 reels. I'm not a huge fan of the purple. Moreover, I thought I read recently about someone make a simple (bearing?) upgrade which really improved the reel? I would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.
  9. According to he manufacturers: Alumacraft 10ft Aluminum Jon Boat = 95 lbs Sundolphin Bass Hound 10.2 = 160 lbs (I get around 400 for mine when adding casting deck, outboard motor, gas tank, battery and gear) Pond Prowler = 138 lbs According to the manufacturers: Alumacraft 10ft Aluminum Jon Boat = 95 lbs Sundolphin Bass Hound 10.2 = 160 lbs (I get around 400 for mine when adding casting deck, outboard motor, gas tank, battery and gear) Pond Prowler = 138 lbs
  10. I once fished with a guy who had mastered pooping off of the back of his boat without making any mess whatsoever. I think he had had an unfair advantage because he could grant himself relief without having to leave his spot or have a smelly sag in the back of his pants.
  11. Buzzbaits can be fished in heavy cover (laydowns) where a plopper's trebles will get snagged.
  12. Does anyone have an Amazon coupon code for KastKing? I saw some floating around a couple weeks ago but can't seem to find them now. I am thinking of picking up the Speed Demon Pro reel.
  13. I would not rely on this source to do your physics homework because it is not correct. The energy that comes from the sun essentially causes things to generate heat. In other words, the energy transfer results in heat. Whereas what is coming from your body is the heat coming from energy transfer that has occurred in your body. If your body and the sun were doing the same kind of energy transfer, I don’t think our species would survive, think of all the ‘sunburns’ that would occur during the course of reproduction. There is an interesting study of Bedouins that where thick black robes that keep them cool. However, the key to the coolness was not the color but the thickness. The heat absorbed by the black robes dissipated before it reached the skin. The color didn't matter. https://www.nature.com/articles/283373a0
  14. Probably a thermocline, which can help you target depth.
  15. I have multiple Tatula SVs and multiple Curados (70 and K). Both braking systems on those reels work exceptionally well. No matter what reel you have, you will quickly adapt to prevent backlashes. More than likely, the first time you cast into a light wind, you will get a good backlash. Not because of bad brakes, but because you didn’t realize such a light wind can catch a bulky crankbait so easily. Since you plan on this being a reel for cranking this setup will likely be more of a casting setup so a super advanced breaking system won’t really be necessary. I am guessing that you are building a shallow crankbait setup since you are pairing the reel with a 705CB? I paired a Curado 70 with my 705CB and it balances perfectly. I use the Tatula SV’s on my T-rig and jig setups.
  16. Had a real frog chasing my lure frog once on a grass mat when suddenly a bass blew up on the real frog. The bass wasn’t quite big enough to inhale it and that frog screamed like a small child. It was one of the most ear piercing things I have ever heard. The bass just kept rolling with it in its mout and splashing around with it and it kept screaming until finally, it got away. It was quite a site to see and hear.
  17. Could be someone’s old line or a limb
  18. Make sure to look at last year and the year before's videos that are at a similar time. Remember, the most recent video these guys do is LAST WEEK'S fishing report. The bite can change from the time they were on the water and did the video from the time you get on the water. How frustrating would it be to have watched the most recent video stating that the crankbait bite is "on fire" and then go out cranking away to catch no fish, then to find out that in the next video they say "well the crankbait bite is gone". I would go find and watch a week or two in both directions from last year to get a sense of what to expect. The fish usually progress through similar seasonal patterns on the lake, but not always at the exact same time.
  19. Irony. Had to send in my Daiwa Tatula Elite Skipping Jig rod in yesterday to repair the first guide up from the reel seat. I had a chance to go fishing today so I used an old wright-McGill Skeet Reese Jig/Worm rod. Fishing my usually brush and rock piles felt like mush compared to what the feel like with the Tatula Elite. I just wasn’t really feeling much compared to normal. Went into Scheel’s today with the wife because she wanted some new workout pants. I went up to the fishing section to browse and pass the time. I found Tatula Elite rods on sale for $109.99 (vs. $179-219 regular). There was a 7’2” Heavy topwater rod, a 7’ MH Powerspin spinning rod, and a dropshot spinning rod. Multiples of each. I didn’t realize how much I liked my Tatula Elite until I went to something else. I have been tossing around the idea of a heavier application spinning rod... anyone have any baitmonkey spray?
  20. How else would you be able to complete the ultimate topwater lure, the whopper plopper train? 190-130-110-90-75
  21. 7’ Medium Heavy Fast action Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier rod. Catch them on sale and you can get a whole combo in your price range. IMO they are extremely versatile rods. I used one from the bank for about a year and threw everything with it. This rod is not a great rod for any specific technique, but it can cover all of the techniques you mentioned very well.
  22. While the outdoor NE page says this, it is not sufficient. I ran ran into a similar problem when I purchased a Bass Hound a little over a year ago. I had the MSO AND the bill of sale and they still wouldn’t let me register it. Fortunately for me, it had been registered in Kansas previously and still had the numbers on it. I was able to call Kansas motor vehicle and they sent me a copy of the old registration. It is important that the name on the old registration matches the name on the bill of sale. Nebraska has some pretty ridiculous laws/processes about registering these kinds of things. If you don’t have any luck, you might be able to register it in another state that only requires the MSO and bill of sale and then use that registration to register it in Nebraska.
