  1. Keep clicking on this thread hoping for a good sale and keep seeing tacklewarehouse gift cards discussion. It tells everything you need to know right on their website.
  2. It's planned that way lol. They offer enough colors I'll never pay more that msrp for what is already an over priced bait. I love em but 25 bucks a piece is plenty
  3. Ok so I installed my new garmin echomap 93 uhd graphs and the interference is still there. Everyone says run cables on opposite sides of boat. All mine are ran through a plastic tube together. Im not going thru all that ill go back to a 5 speed motor first. Lots of folks say ground the skeg to the ground bus up front from the cranking battery. Gonna try that and ask my trolling motor guy about it if that doesn't work. Also installed the ferrite ring deals that come with the units and no help. Will keep you guys informed with it. My patience level is dwindling. Had an edge on the boat that worked just fine and my buddy basically gave me the fortrex when u got his ultrex. Much better/powerful motor but the interference isn't gonna work. Like a dummy I sold the edge so if I go that route it'll be buying a new/remanufactured one. Always some but hopefully the ground will fix it.
  4. X2 on the tournament pro lfs. The new kvd reel is sweet and so is the bb1 but sportsman's outfitters has the tournament pros for 139 new and they're hard to beat
  5. Probably find some decent deals with all the sales going on. A 50 dollar retail rod wouldn't be much but an 80 dollar rod on sale would likely be much better. Have no experience with either the aird or lightning
  6. Good, bad, or ugly it just is what it is at this point. Just because one tournament was won this way hardly means everyone has to run out and get it cause it means you'll win. Obviously Walters is a stick, already proven that way before that tournament. Obviously he is a wiz with electronics. As are several other tour level pros and lots of weekend anglers. I do agree that it may paint a dark picture for guys trying to get into tournament fishing as far as the money spent. I run 3 garmins on my tin boat and we do pretty well locally on the tournament scene. As already stated this is no different than when down imaging came out then side imaging. Theyre all tools. If you choose not to use them dont but em. If you don't fish for money I don't see why anyone cares either way. Pretty simple to understand tho, its all about the $ like everything else in life. Garmin wants money, they pay said pro to market their gear, said pro wins 100k using it, all the weekend warriors go spend 2500 bucks to have it. I do believe someone should start a tournament trail with 150 hp limit, limited electronics etc. It would be interesting and appealing to a lotta people.
  7. Sometimes its just not in the cards to spend more money. Obviously savings would work of thats an option. Id look around. May find someone selling a solid old jon boat for cheap or something similar. Maybe try to barter for something. If you put your mind to it there's likely a way to get something that'll work for now.
  8. I've started using hook bonnets this year and so far so good. It does take up a little more space and can be a pain if your hands are cold etc. I may give this a try if I decide the bonnets are more trouble than they're worth. Definitely looks more organized! Like that the bonnets protect the baits from any hook rash. Either one definitely helps keep from having a tangled mess. Used to pull out a jerkbait and have to untangle 4 or 5 more to be able to free it.
  9. I'm in central ky and our phone service has been out all day. Did some looking on the inter webs and found out what had happened. Kinda felt like a tool for being upset about my phones considering what happened. Hope they catch whoever did it and do mean things to em. It is definitely crazy if hospitals etc are being affected. One more jacked up thing in this wonderful year of 2020!
  10. I'm a big fan of lews but this reel disappointed me. Didn't cast as well as I expected and just didn't wow me in any way. Paint chipped off extremely easy. For the $ id take a tournament pro all day over one. Hope for your sake your opinion is different. Got mine for like 200 bucks and returned it almost immediately. First lews I've had that I was that disappointed in.
  11. Whats the reason for both? Be hard to run 2 ducers unless one is built into your trolling motor. Most guys are running 2 that way. Only reason I'd want more than 1 is for 360, livescope or mapping then one for down imaging and sonar
  12. I'm in the process of the same thing and gonna use a mount similar to a dek it mount to mount a garmin 93sv uhd. Im going to cover the hole with an aluminum plate that I'm going to paint black.
  13. I think it depends on what specifically you want them for. As a whole I prefer garmin. 2d and mapping is the best and side imaging is plenty good enough. If you want the best side imaging get birds with mega. Lowrance has some nice newer units but I've just never much cared for Lowrance. As already mentioned you're gonna get different opinions. I bought my garmins because they were 600 bucks compared to 1500 for what I wanted in birds. My partner runs birds and they're great as well but he spent 2k a piece. Can't really go wrong just buy what suites you and what you're looking for in a unit!
  14. I've been eye ballin them myself but can't find any info either. They look good. Similar to the vision and rick clunn jerkbaits.
  15. Id have no problems with having more teams in the playoffs...however...kinda hard to argue that Clemson and Alabama have been the 2 best teams in the country for many years excluding last year. Notre dame proved who they were yesterday. I can't stand bama but theyre good and will be til Saban isn't there. Id love to see Tennessee good again. Ive given up hope for my UK Wildcats ever doing anything in the football world.
  16. Yeah don't fret about it it can definitely be fixed. If it were mine I'd for sure have it done right. Probably have to cut the patch out thats dented and replace with a good piece of aluminum. Little grinder and finish work and some touch up paint and all will be right! Id offer to do it but you're pretty far from me. Good luck with it!
  17. Hard to tell much in the pic. Id suggest a good fab shop. A good aluminum welder could fix that up. We've repaired some crazy things at my work that have all turned out nice. If its aluminum it can be fixed
  18. Pretty disappointing in daiwa but I've got to where I just break em down and lube em up right out of the box. Never needed to do so with other brands but I like the daiwas enough that I'm willing to do it! Pretty well documented at this point you'd think someone would take notice and fix the issue.

Lots of good points being made. I have no info to add to it other than...if I'm wheeler and I know its floating around out there that I'm cheating...I think I'd walk the line for a while and not do anything that could be misinterpreted. If he's never cheated then yes maybe a little unfair, but he's still a young guy and if he intends to do it for another 30 years does he really wanna do that with those accusations following him around? As for the calling in and telling on himself for breaking the rules...kind of hard not to with an official and a camera in your boat. I personally kind of like the guy but can't stand the thought of anyone cheating so I have mixed feelings. Also agree that it could be something someone started because he took their money. He should just make sure going forward there's nothing he does that is anything like a gray area. Id think it would be hard for a guy at his level to cheat much and it not be public
  20. Definitely have to disagree with him on the triton sucks part but cool to find common ground with someone like that! I've had that happen a time or 2 with older guys at work who I wasn't a big fan of til we realized we shared and interest in fishing! Good luck with the sale!
  21. The zx rods have been discontinued for a cple years. No telling who made em but I remember hearing it was daiwa. Im sure daiwa offers a similar stick in some rod but I doubt its gonna be the value the zx were. Several companies offer similar sticks but not necessarily with winn grips and not usually for 99 bucks or cheaper. Ive been studying for 2 years on what the replacement will be and haven't found one yet. 13 fishing fate black rods are comparable in my opinion but theyre fluorescent green and have cork handles. Love the action and they offer a 6'7 medium. The 7 ft med carbonlite 2.0 has similar action ive fished a jerkbait on them some and they're nice but still prefer the zx
  22. Medium zodias for sure. Med light is too light for small cranks and the slx isn't near the rod the zodias is
  23. Yes you can. I dont prefer it as I like a little shorter rod for frogging but a lotta guys throw em on longer heavy rods.
