  1. I have 8 or 9 of the zx rods and 2 of the jerkbait rods. I agree its the perfect jerkbait rod...wouldn't trade it for anything ive ever had in my hands. I also believe they were made by daiwa. Have no clue what the equivalent would be im always looking for more of the zx rods for sale and never see any anywhere. It will be a sad day if and when I break any of them. I've fished them almost exclusively for over 5 years
  2. Tatula sv for me. Not a big fan of the DC reels. Solution to a problem that doesn't exist in my opinion. Obviously lots of guys love em tho. Im sure either would be satisfactory. The sv is the easiest casting reel to use ive ever had in my hands. Doesnt win any distance awards tho. If you want ease of use and controlled casting get the sv. If u want to bomb baits get the dc.
  3. 21 gallon and with my 4 stroke I usually don't fill up for several trips at a time. Couple bigger lakes i may run out a half tank if I'm running and gunning for a long day on the water. Most I've ever used was lil over half and I was on pad running for over 2 hrs that day. Love the fuel economy of the 4 stroke. Also the weight is a factor for me. My rig is slow so I try not to make it any slower
  4. Fixing to grab up 3 of the tatula ct's myself. Simply can't be beat at that price!
  5. Carl jocumsen. Dude just intrigues me. Moving across the world in pursuit of his dream. It would just be a neat experience. Besides him...Andy Montgomery...id love to learn how to skip docks half as good as him and he seems like a good guy to boot!
  6. I grabbed one from scheels a cple weeks ago for 599. The garmin 93sv uhd. Dont know if they're still that price but it came quickly
  7. I've ran fiberglass all my life and bought a new triton aluminum rig in 2019. Love it. Not really much down side and lots of up side for me anyway. Id have no problem owning another glass rig but after having this one dont know that I ever will. You can buy a nicely rigged aluminum boat for well within your price range. The tritons can be had with a 175. Vexus, crestliner and express all make nice rigs rated for a 200. If I were in the market for a new glass boat it would be a bass cat, triton or skeeter. Lots of good options out there just take your time and do your homework. You're gonna get a ton of different opinions like anything else. Buy what "you" want!
  8. Basspro super shad for bladed jigs. Dont throw a swim jig much in colder water
  9. I used to have a hard time slowing down but over the years I've figured out how badly I was hurting my fishing. I go to catch fish. If that requires fast moving baits, jigs, long pauses with jerkbaits or a ned rig fished slowly...im game. My dad fishes with me a lot and unless they're smashing something moving fast I always give him a beat down lol. Ive cashed a lot more checks probably fishing things others won't or don't because its too slow. Even when I'm fishing something fast I give it pauses and jerks.
  10. I much prefer the keitechs or rage swimmers but because of their price ive been using the pulse as spinnerbait and swim jig trailers. No doubt they'll all catch fish but I've had good success on the keitechs and rage swimmers!
  11. Wow some of these answers are surprising. A senko? I'd think a man could catch a bass in a mud puddle on a senko lol. I get it tho some guys just tend to fish different than others. Im trying to remember but I can't think of a fish I've ever landed on a walking bait. I've had some blow up on em and my partner wrecks fish on em but I've always gotta throw a different topwater to catch em. Hopefully I'll change that in 2021
  12. I'll have to look but I don't remember anything like that being in the box when I bought the ones that are on it now. Haven't looked at the new one either so maybe it will have it. I'm hoping the new one works and no interference. I'll get it installed first warmer day we get and report back
  13. Yes ive been reading on it all evening. Didn't realize interference was such a common problem. I've got a new garmin 93sv uhd so I'm gonna install it and hope that it doesn't have the interference. If it does I guess I'll go from there.
  14. So I've ran a couple of these for a few years. Changed my trolling motor out for an 80 lb ultrex recently. Did it myself and everything is clean and neat and nothing is exposed. Went out today and every time id step on the button and turn on the trolling motor it would show a vertical line on my 2d sonar. If I stayed on the motor it would fade away some. I took the tray out and double checked everything while on the water and I can't figure out anything. Read that if the power cables were touching it would cause interference so I made sure they weren't. Any ideas before I seek a costly expert? Thanks
  15. I've not owned all of them but a few of the older chronarchs and curados and a few of the newer chronarchs and curados. The new ones definitely have the edge in terms of ergonomics and such. Maybe even a tad smoother. I have no proof but always had it in my mind the build quality isn't the same as it used to be. Heck its like that in everything these days. I had about 10 curado e's and then the same reels in the chronarch e's. Kick myself all the time for chasing something better and not keeping them. Even tho I'm not a guy who keeps things around like some do...its an awesome thing to know a reel will last you 20 years if cared for. The only new shimano I have that confidence in is the bantam mgl.
  16. I was about to suggest a bucket of water but someone beat me to it. I wouldn't see it hurting anything in water
  17. X2. Wouldn't exactly say not wanting to damage my gear equates to buying it for status. If that makes someone feel superior about their fishing skills more power to em lol.
  18. I usually have both rigged up. Don't have any proof but thinking about it....I use the Texas rigs in nasty cover. Anytime there's a lot of vegetation and such I use it. The jig gets the nod around timber and in colder water with a chunk trailer. I guess this has just become my approach. Caught a lotta fish on both!
  19. I dont buy rods with the locking nuts for this very reason. If it were my only option I guess I'd live with it but since its not I choose to buy ones with hoods. Dont recall seeing many Loomis or dobyns rods with locking nuts. If someone likes them more power to em.
  20. As long as they don't try to cut me off or act like I'm supposed to get outta their way...I usually try to help other anglers. Offer up any advice if I'm doing wny good and have given a bait or 2 away. I have no problem with someone copying me...kinda flattering. It should be about fun and if someone is struggling why not help them have fun too? It's become way to much of a cut throat sport so any time we can offset that i say do so!
  21. I think wheeler holds his own anywhere they go doing anything they do. Definitely would consider him a jack of all trades. I think the specialists can and will still be successful when the conditions and such set up right for them. They just won't be as consistent. Hard for me to question anything those guys do...theyre making a living doing it while I'm goin to work everyday. Its definitely evolved into a much different scene that it was 10 or 20 years ago. Love seeing guys like clunn still competing and winning at his age amongst all the young guns!
  22. Pp for me. Never used the smack down and probably won't. Just dont see the need but have no doubts its likely better. Pp hasn't failed me or my buddies and I'm used to it so ignorance is bliss!
  23. Just picked up one of the presidents from cabelas for 50 bucks. Looks great and feels good so far. Ive got one ive had for over 5 years thats been wonderful so I'm hoping this one will be decent for a couple years anyway. Ive got a daiwa legalis I think it is. Think I paid like 60 for it and it's decent. My favorite so far is lews mach 2 speed spin or something like that lol. 79 dollar reel that sportsman's outfitters sells for like 54. Aluminum fram and smooth as silk after a season of some decent use.
  24. Everyone always says they're basically the same reels. In my experience that isn't true. My buddy has probably 15 revos from gen 2 til now. They all work but none of them feel as smooth as my lews. My buddy even mentions it any time he picks up one of mine. Overall I just feel the lews have a little better quality and durability. May be a better grade of bearings or something but I've owned several revos and none of them impressed me. Id take the tournament pro for 139 at sportsman's outfitters over that premier all day long.
