Addicted
Howdy and welcome to our fishing family! I'm addicted to bass fishing too. Glad it has taken the place of other addictions I've had in the past. ?

Bullet sinker problem? Will it damage line? & Mono>braid conversion ?
Especially when spelling the word spell...lol! ? Of course we all have issues with autocorrect with our phones and other devices. I honestly think it should be called autoincorrect...lol! ? I only buy brass and tungsten weights. Anytime I've bought lead weights there was always an issue with them being slightly smashed( like the OP's photo above). I just feel like it's worth a little more money to avoid that problem. ?

Fishing Line/Sensitivity Problem
You'd be surprised at the big baits a small bass can get in its mouth. The chances of attracting a larger bass is better with big baits, but smaller bass do tend to strike at them and pretty hard in my experiences. I've had small bass annihilate a 1/2oz chatterbait with a Rage Craw trailer to the point I thought I had a big one until I got them reeled in. Boy was I surprised...lol. ?

Fishing Line/Sensitivity Problem
Before you make any drastic changes in line type, try wacky rigging your senkos and trick worms. Rigged that way will create more resistance on the retrieve in turn tightening up your line a bit more making bite detection easier. If you do decide to change lines I suggest switching to Sufix 832 braid. I use 30lb on my spinning rig and 40lb on my baitcasters. I just recently bought some 17lb Berkley Vanish flourocarbon for one of my baitcasters in hopes it would help with the possibility that the bass, in this one lake I've been fishing alot lately, are line shy. I don't believe they are and braided line casts so much easier and better with less foul ups. Plus with braid the sensitivity is so much better. If you don't decide to change lines, I suggest that you keep your finger lightly on the line your using as you reel it in, as it sits or while your bait is falling on slack line. That will help detect bites no matter what line you're using. Hope this helps. Good luck and tight lines. ?

Lake side at 5:30am. It was really beautiful. This pic doesn't do it justice. Had to use my flash! ?

So much for beating the heat this morning. Got to the lake around 5:30am, it wasn't that hot at that time, but nothing was biting. Nothing biting all morning, then finally I caught a bream on a 4" wacky rigged green pumpkin Strike King Ocho...lol. It hit it like a bass, but by far wasn't one. So I changed out the 4" to a 6" green pumpkin Ocho and a bass hit it, I set the hook and had it coming in then it jumped and spit my bait. That was all the excitement for the day. It's just too dang hot out there 100°+! Maybe next time I'll do better. ?

General and specific questions about braided line.
I only use 30lb Sufix 832 on my spinning gear. It does just fine and it's the same diameter as 8lb mono. I love the fact that it doesn't have memory and casts very well. As far as military service goes, I've never served, but all branches are heroes. Even if they never saw battle, anyone in any branch could have. I thank all who have served this great country because without them we don't have the freedoms we have. God Bless them all! ?

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Today I couldn't help myself, had to get the bone Whopper Plopper 90. It's been calling me for a while now...lol. Also got another pack of Sixth Sense Peg X Stoppers and a pack of Gamakatsu 7/O EWG Monster worm hooks for my 10.5" and 12" Ol' Monsters and Mann's Jelly Worms. Gonna try out all my new stuff Friday morning. I'm off tomorrow and Friday, but I've worked 7 straight days. Not really used to that, so I'm relaxing tomorrow to be ready for Friday bass fishing. ?

My Lew's Carbon Speed Stick spinning rod, that recently broke, got replaced today. I bought a Daiwa Laguna 6'6" MF spinning rod to pair with the Lew's SSG300 Speed Spin reel that is still in great shape. Wasn't really what I wanted to get for that reel, but it was affordable and they match in color. The guides are a little bigger than I wanted and after a few practice casts in the yard it seems to be ok. Can't wait to fish with it for a true test. Also bought some 6" and 4" Strike King KVD Perfect Plastics Ochos in green pumpkin because we are clearancing them out. Got 2 packs of each size. They were only $1.58 each with my discount at work. The rod was only $23.99 with my discount. Wish I woulda had more extra cash to have gotten more, but these will do for now. ?

Been a week or so since I've been able to get out and do some fishing. Was able to get a couple hours in before dark tonight. Only caught this 1lb 1oz bass on a weightless Texas rigged green pumpkin Rage Craw. Really sucks that it had my hook a bit far in his mouth and wasn't easy to get out. Unfortunately it also snapped about an inch or so of my spinning rod tip off in the process. Only have baitcasters to do any fishing with now. Either gotta learn to cast weightless and/or lighter weighted baits with them or hurry up and replace my spinning rod. Something's gotta give. ?
