  1. My plan is similar to yours. I want to be cremated, no real service. Depending on where I'm living when the event happens, I want at least some of my ashes returned to beautiful east TN and scattered either in the Houston River (7 Islands area) or in Norris Lake. Both are places I love to chase Smallmouth. I bet @TnRiver46 knows where the 7 Islands area is! I've told my wife and kids that if they want to have some sort of service, they can order pizza and beer. Sit around a campfire at home and talk about how great a guy that I am ? As to your wife and mom not fulfilling your wishes, not sure if you're being serious. Although I'm retired law enforcement, I went to college to be a mortician. Still haven't figured out that one? Not about where you're from, but in most states if you do a will or some sort of notarized statement of intent stating your wishes, they have to be followed. That said, things may have, and probably have changed in some states.
  2. Pro's in no real order. The late Billy Westmoreland Ott Defoe Seth Feider Bill Dance Mark Zona Bass Resources members, in no particular order. @MN Fisher @A-Jay @TnRiver46 @WRB
  3. Isn't that Loretta Swit, the TV "Hot Lips"? Sally Kellerman was Hot Lips in the movie. Sally is the Hot Lips that passed.
  4. I watched this last night. Next thing I knew my allergies were going haywire. Very good tribute by Zona, to his friend. @T-Billy is right, we watch these guys, feel like we know them. Zona and Aaron both seem like great guys. RIP Aaron Martens.
  5. I forgot one! Haven't been there in years and I can only hope that they're still around. West Side Chevron/ Bait and Tackle on hwy 72 in Athens, AL. When I used to fish Wheeler Lake I'd always stop there for fuel and any needed (or not) tackle. They were always well stocked and friendly staff members. Any of you AL guys, are they still around?
  6. I'm going to try and go there this summer.
  7. I went to my first NHRA Fall Nationals last year. What a weekend, never seen anything like it. We've already purchased our tickets, premium parking passes and motel rooms for October 2022! I'm also a dirt track fan. You're tight, NASCAR made a really big deal that the Daytona 500 was a sell out. What they neglected to say was the back straight stands were torn down a few years ago because they didn't want empty seats showing up on TV. Talladega and Charlotte took their back straight grandstands down too. While I guess it was a sellout, it's not the same amount of seats as in the past. The product that NASCAR puts out seems to be getting better, like @GRebsaid, the jury's still out.
  8. Bass Pro Shops, Springfield, MO and Kodak, TN stores. Edgemoore Tackle, Claxton, TN Honey Hole, West Monroe, LA Salt water, J & M Tackle, Orange Beach, AL
  9. Even though I've been gone for years, I still have friends at BPS. They probably haven't received anything yet on sale items. When I was there, we got about a weeks notice to make signage and prepare for staging items.
  10. I fill mine to what is on the tire, always have. I've never had an issue to this point.
  11. I'm with you @MN Fisher, I rarely go out on weekends unless it's to a small creek. Then I only go early and leave by noon!
  12. I watched the race flag to flag even though I'm not a huge NASCAR fan anymore. I bet I'm the only person on here that has held a NASCAR drivers license. See my post on my most moronic moment. I started in modified street division (hobby cars), 4 cyl modified's and finally limited late models. One of the track that I raced a was a NASCAR Winston Racing Series track meaning I had to get a license and build my cars to their specs. I only watch Daytona speed weeks and the night race at Bristol. If NASCAR brings back North Wilksboro and the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway to the Cup and Xfinity schedules, I'll watch those too. Seems like Steve Kennedy, Lisa France's son, is trying to bring NASCAR back from the brink. The various bonehead moves that were made after Bill France, Jr's passing were monumental. Lisa's brother, Brian doggone near ruined NASCAR. He was "voted off of the island" so to speak after his run in with the law. The race was okay, new car seems okay but they have some serious parts issues to work out. Broken shifter cables, suspension parts braking sending cars into the wall and two or three broken wheels, that's nuts. One wheels center broke, the others broke width wise. It's interesting that wheels and suspension parts didn't break when they were testing the new car. Of course no test is as tough as a real racing environment. With all the wrecks and one roll over landing squarely on it's roof, the new car seems safe! I was pulling for the Woods Brother's car.
  13. Come on brother, I posted mine!
  14. I have had to have numerous hooks removed from finger's and my arm, fell in twice (once from a boat, slipped while wading once). Neglected to put the plug in once. My most embarrassing, and expensive wasn't fishing related at all. When I was still racing stock cars, we got to the track early to practice a little before qualifying. After a bunch of laps, I'm feeling pretty good about myself. At this point I'm the only guy on the track. Came out of turn two a little high, kissed the wall. Car's still going straight, no big deal. Went into three, no problem. Came out of four and all heck breaks loose! Right rear axle snapped at the hub...no more right rear tire and wheel. Slide up into the turn four wall, happened so fast I didn't realize what happened so I'm getting on the throttle. Car climbed the wall, flagman abandoned the flag stand as I'm headed straight for it. Thankfully I came off of the wall, across the track and into the inside wall. Saw a wheel and tire and thought they looked familiar, it was mine. Crew Chief and best friend came on the radio and asked if I was ok, I was. Then he said something like, "Maybe this ain't for you. You're the only s.o.b. that I've ever seen destroy a car on a short track by yourself." Talk about insult to injury! He was wrong by the way, had to reclip the rear frame section and replace the majority of the body, two wheels and all four tires. Turns out he didn't know what he was talking about! RIP Richard, I miss you.
  15. I've had so many it would be hard to pick one!
  16. Thanks to everyone for the great replies! I'm going to have to head back to that creek soon Does anyone know the spawning season for bowfin?
  17. I was one heck of a fight, both times!
  18. I have six of the gen 1 PQ's on my Crankin' Sticks. Like you, I maintenance them annually. I also add a couple of drops of Lucas reel oil the bearings around July. I'm going to PM you about upgrades.
  19. The creek that we were fishing was lightly stained, far from muddy. There was some light current too.
  20. If I was BPS, I wouldn't have messed with the Pro Qualifier reels at all. Those things used to be the best seller and they're practically bulletproof if you even halfway do preventive maintenance on them.
  21. The 2022 Spring Fishing Classic dates are March 10th through the 30th. I got those dates came from the 2022 Master Catalog.
  22. I don't know, I've made numerous orders since the pandemic started, including two Garmin's, and they've had everything in stock. Went to the Little Rock, Springfield and Nashville BPS stores through the year. While the actual stores were low on some rods, they had plenty of lures. Maybe we were shopping for different items.
  23. They moved the Spring Fishing Classic to late March last year. I'm assuming it will be the same for 2022.
  24. The lady that I dealt with said that they (telephone order takers) were told that there have been delays in printing and shipping. On a brighter note, they are expecting them any day. Once delivered, they will be shipped to the consumer. Edit, Got mine today.
  25. Did you get your 2022 Master Catalog? I called BPS a couple of weeks ago and ordered a new Garmin. I asked about the new catalog and was told they would be shipped as soon as they are delivered by the printing company.
