  1. I used them on Saturday and so far they're awesome. A pricey purchase for what they are, they keep the wind contact to a minimum. The grip on the palm and fingers keeps you connected to your reel instead of slipping. Not the warmest, I'm concerned the stitching and snaps might be the first to wear down.
  2. Prepping for some 40 degree weather this weekend and needed a reload of some finesse stuff. I couldn't pass up on the Cabela's Guide wear gloves, they're not the thickest but I can thumb a baitcaster comfortably without my whole hand being exposed - underrated bait monkeying business. That lunkerhunt dock spider looks like the real deal, 1/4oz semi light wire hook, a little thinner than a dark sleeper. A little shake of the wrist and all those legs shimmy shimmy yaaaa.
  3. Welcome to board HK! I'm north of Toronto, and I usually fish north of Barrie. Looking forward to seeing your latest catches and hearing about your latest visit from the bait monkey. Tight lines!
  4. Is that a canoe? If so what kind?
  5. If it has UPF 50+, ya I would wear it. But I'm not on a team or fish tournaments, let alone own one but my skin matters to me. I always have a UPF 50+ long sleeve shirt on, I have a few Cabela's Guidewear, and UnderArmor options.
  6. Lost a brand new gantarel jr trying to get proper leverage on my would be PB pike on the wknd, I wish I just netted the d**n thing.
  7. Jigs, texas rigging and worm rod. Anything that requires you to feel a fish fart - definitely not for treble hook rod.
  8. I haven't handle either of those rods. I do use the S-waver 165 (1 5/8oz) and Gantarel Jr. (1.5oz) on my 735c and I side arm them but no means are they underpowered.
  9. for mono/co-polymer, I prefer the San Diego Jam and fluoro I'll Palomar that too same as described above.
  10. All of those rods are feather light, I'd go Expride for the fit, finish and cork handle.
  11. I own the 703sf and 735c in the Fury line and have handled the 795c regularly. if you need 2 set ups, go with the Sierra, and if you can get away with one go Champ. I like my Furys for what they are, entry level if I did it all over again. I would probably gone with Tatula or Sierra Rods.
  12. It would make a lot more sense if they rated them like this: 735C - Heavy 704/734C - MH 703/733C - M 702 - ML I doubt a 703sf has similar action to a 703C, I should ask Gary. I've read this 100 times over. I think the right rule of thumb with Dobyns SB rods is cut the max lure rating in half and boom, sweet spot. Anything over that you're stepping up to the ChampXP series with the 807, 867 and 908 territory which is big bucks and you could probably build a custom rod for that kind of money.
  13. I do B.) but I go through the hook eye and wrap it once first then start tying the knot.
  14. Love that scale bass, little bummed the foil is cracking on arrival though.
  15. Another gantarel Jr on the way, this time in scale bass. At $20 I can't turn it down, also picked up a Jackall Mikey Jr to get free shipping.
  16. On the pause with a light perch Ripstop.
  17. After trapping the bait monkey in the closet for a 1.5 months, I caved to a $20CDN Jackall Gantarel Jr. (scale gill) on Amazon.ca. They go for $50CDN, oh and I grabbed a couple of zman trout tricks and trout jigs and a pack of finesse worms.
  18. bold strategy going with a couple of southern anglers, I went super safe with some northern anglers and a dice roll with Pirch.
  19. I use the Zman Ned Lockz HD or Shroomz Micro Finesse Jig exclusively for my ned rigging needs. The keeper on the Lockz is top notch and works amazing on any plastic, elaztech or not. I even use the Lockz to wacky rig a ned bait. I have the power finesse shroomz with and without the weedless keeper but I think they're too bulky.
  20. This has been mostly my experience fishing Georgian Bay for the last 4 years. Always find pike and smallmouth in proximity, largemouth seem to prefer any type of cover/structure. I heard from a Musky guide, if you're targeting musky and catch a pike you need to move along, when there's pike there's no musky.
  21. Can't keep em off the ned rig on the kayak.
  22. These type of threads do them more favours. You're giving them free advertising. If you don't like it just move along, and ignore it. At the end of the day to each his/her own.
  23. Couldn't get my pics to load..
  24. We call this technique poaching and feelings always get triggered lmao
  25. I caught a 6lb smallmouth bass, which I doubt I'll beat unless I fish Lake Simcoe. I was intrigued in knowing how old a 6lb smallmouth might be. Keep in mind I'm Canadian and I live/fish Southern Ontario, mainly Georgian Bay.
