  1. if you can't control your cast, you shouldn't be casting at docks to begin with.
  2. They don't have all the colour options you're looking for but Tackle Direct and FishUSA have them: https://www.fishusa.com/product/Megabass-Dark-Sleeper https://www.tackledirect.com/megabass-dark-sleeper-swimbaits.html I love the little jig but I think I can do just as well on a finesse swim jig + a 2.5" sb
  3. Z-man does an excellent job with clamshells, 6" Swimmerz, TRD Hogz, Trick Shotz for example.
  4. Those baits have the same profile as the Z-man Trick Shot. They look better with eyes.
  5. perfect! This should help me catch up in this group and the TW group.
  6. Zaldain really dropped off, I got 3 in the top 20 (#10, #15, #20). What's the cut off for Day 2?
  7. It seems I got my Brent's and Britt's confused haha.
  8. Seems they don't frequent Winyah every year, last results I could find were 2016. Hite was the last to win it. Here's my shots in the dark.. I mean picks:
  9. My buddies have high end plano bags with the dedicated plier pocket. I like them but I hate the idea of lugging around 30lbs of tackle. I like the built in bait bag too. I think i might pick up one of those z-man double wide bags for fishing from the bank - I tend to leave the reaction baits at home. The TW backpack looks good but as the OP stated, the straps are that comfortable. The Daiwa digital camo backpack looks cool but haven't seen much reviews on it.
  10. I've got a Spiderwire tackle bag that fits 4 or 5 3700 size boxes and I'm not fond of it. This year I plan on being a bit more specific, in effort to improve some techniques and I want to go away with the big bag. I have a handmedown plano weekender that holds a couple of 3600 boxes, which is great but the strap is garbage but it works great when I'm on the yak. I was thinking of just using my Thule backpack for bank fishing outings but I found this new Cabela's bag that might take over bank duties and help limit what I bring on the boat. Thoughts?
  11. I use the #1 size on all my crankbaits and jerkbaits. They have a small learning curve but work great. I can't find the swivel version locally, but they would be perfect for a whopper plopper or suicide duck
  12. Ott saved me, he was the 1 pick that made it to day 3. Next week I'm going with a good ol' Ontario boy and a mix bag of anglers.
  13. Gary Yammamoto, angler first, business man distant 2nd. Awesome video Glenn, thanks for sharing.
  14. We're pretty close, I got my darkhorses tho: Defoe Martens Swindle Montgomery Tharp
  15. Nice re-up, what color are those? Also, what color is your main body of water?
  16. I would put most of your budget into the rod, especially if it's for applications where you want to feel a fish fart. The Fury is a good starter, but not exactly the cheapest. Fenwick HMG's are decent and come with a great warranty same goes for St. Croix. I've heard good reviews on the cheaper Daiwa rods, like the Procyon and Fuego if you want to be in the sub $100 range. I'm a review junky, so start digging, the way this forum is built the search button works A LOT better than other sites, plus there's a great community here that'll chime in.
  17. On Youtube in no particular order: KeepinItReelFishing*** Tackle Advisor*** Ike Walker Smith Salt Strong Brian Latmier BassResource*** Fish Code Studio*** ***Must see Gear Reviews: KeepinItReelFishing*** Tackle Advisor*** Salt Strong Kevin Bullington On TV, I used to have the Fish World channel, but it was switched for a Hunting and Fishing channel and I canceled cause it was 90% about hunting. But some quality series: Strike King series - glorified 30 minutes commercial with KVD, Zona and a bunch of others Pros Buccaneers and Bones (non-bass related) The Hunt For Monster Bass with Ott Defoe - huge BPS commercial but Ott breaks it down.
  18. It's great rod - I use it mainly for jigs, I prefer the 3/8-1/2oz with a trailer. A 168 s-waver overloads it a bit from a swimbait perspective. It's perfect for frogging. TBH I wanted the 704/734c but it was sold out at the time. I've chatted with Gary a couple of times, he's awesome and very knowledgeable. I'm a Dobyns fanboy for sure. He's got some awesome terminal tackle too. The swimbait jigheads with a weedguard look legit, 4 prong keeper.
  19. I've got a 735c paired with a Feugo and I love it. So much so that I'm trying to sell my cranking rod (AG Ike Delay) for a 705CB. Although, I do appreciate the t-wing and extra bearings in the Tat.
  20. Have you consider the Ottawa River area (Eastern Ontario)?
  21. The BG is a 10oz reel, which makes me think the reel's weight is doing a good job of balancing out your rig.
  22. Tatula CT is a great option and could be had cheaper than the new model. Fuego CT is even cheaper with no twing. Same frame on both reels, less bearings in the fuego, 2 in the handle replaced with bushings
  23. If you're going with the st Croix m/f for sure. Some really good reels around the $100 mark, Daiwa Fuego or BG, Shimano Nasci or Sedona.
