Stalking bass

I tested my megabass orochi xx 7'9" flipping stick casting a sieberts jig today. It was very underated for this purpose. The rod is phenomenal for this function. It honestly was phenominal. It controlled a football jig so very well. I will be testing the warhammer soon and will give you guys updates. The 7'9" was tested against a 7'4" st croix avid x heavy fast. Not even a comparison.

First off I wanted to thank you guys for the help on my rod purchase. It was exactly what I was looking for. I know alot of times theres no review after rod purchase help. I paired the rod with a tatula sv . It is really light balanced out and sensitive. Casts 3/8 oz crankbaits like a dream with no effort using 10 and 12 pound fluoro. And I can distinguish the differences in structure really well. I hope this helps another angler looking for a really nice cranbait rod.

I would buy the diawa but thats personal prefrence. I have a lews but its the custom slp. One of the guys I fish with bought a curado k and sold it to buy a another tatula type R. I have two tatulas with the sv spool and they are my personal favorites. You cant go wrong with either the 100 or 103 models. The casting seems very controlled by the braking system. Just so smooth. A helicopter lure hooked in ones mouth last year. I thought those were extinct?

Go out in your yard or a nearby place and put a heavier lure on or cheap heavy sinker on and cast it as far out as you can. Walk up to it as you are reeling puting tension on your line with your fingers while you are walking towards it and reeling. I would do it two or three times. It works everytime. For spinning reels I always soak my new line in warm water spool my reel then walk out in the yard and tie on a heavier than I would normally throw. Just to get distance. Be easy with it. I cast it twice and it really improves the smoothness of the casts.

I'm looking forward to getting out finally. I'm hoping to go this wednesday or thursday. I have some new cranks and some new rods I have to test out. I will probably toss a jig a little to.

From all of my research the next jig rod I am picking up is a glx 894c jwr. Research that rod. It might be what your in search of. It has been highly recommended on this sight in the past I believe. The rod is a 7'5" H Extra Fast. Oddly enough that model is sold out at TW.

I have tried to do as much research as I could on these two rods. I am only going to be using this rod for 3/8 cranks like a rapala DT6 and roundbill and square balsa cranks again all weighing 3/8. So should I buy the 704cb graphite or the 705cb glass? I will be using it mainly in very sparse vegetation and just ticking the tops of grass. I can't get my hands on one to feel it out. I really appreciate the help. I wanted to add it is the champion model 704cb and 705cb glass that I'm asking about

I have never used a dobyns rod. So I can't really tell you which is better. It wouldn't hurt for you to have two rods. If your going to throw a 3/4 oz jig I would go with the 7'4" heavy avid x though.

Mabey I didn't explain it correctly. I don't like the way the rod bends for jigs. To each his own.

I have the Avid X 7'4 heavy. Its going back. I bought it to use strictly for jigs. It will work for a jig. But I think the rod lacks the tip I want and the power. But it comes down to personal preference. You might really like it. I also have two of the MH F 6'6" and though they will work for a jig. I use them as t- rig and other plastic baits. I purchased them all at once to try them out. The one rod that really shines is the 6'10 ML EXF. Thats a killer dropshot rod. Keep us posted on your decision. Remember it comes down to personal prefrence.

Probably about five grand this year still. I'm still testing rods and lures. All of my confidence baits will set untouched. The orders will still be placed but saved for the bass boat I am buying spring of 2019.
