  1. Abu wants me to cut the rod in half. I wish there was a way around that......
  2. I'm hoping I have the same luck as you did. I submitted a warranty claim and I'm waiting to hear back from them. When I spoke with Abu, they told me they don't have rod components, so they just replace the rod.
  3. I have a Vendetta spinning rod (7') that I really love but today the tip top insert came out. It's still under warranty but I'd rather not have to send it back and be without it for a couple of weeks. I also just installed an Ardent overgrip (which is really comfy) but was a wrestling match to get it on. Can I use a ultraviolet type glue of super glue to reinstall the insert? If doing this is the least bit questionable, I'll send it back. I don't want a failure in the middle of fighting a fish..... Any thoughts on this?
  4. And now to add to the confusion, is Torx Plus.... Drive System Comparison
  5. Same thing here in central NY. I was out last weekend and didn't see any beds. Water temps ranged from 58°-62°..... I managed 6 decent bass and dropped 4, but it took 5 1/2 hours to do that....
  6. Currently I'm using a double rifle plastic case/foam lined. Cost about $24 and holds 4 2 piece rods with reels, 2 spare reels and several other small items. This might not be doable to wear on your back but maybe possible. It does protect my gear really well....
  7. It makes it a little easier to work on at times...
  8. If I'm understanding this correctly, from the bass's perspective, the hi viz line doesn't make a difference?
  9. It appears the many when using casting gear tie direct and when using spinning gear they use a leader of varying lengths. Why the difference?
  10. I'm going to try 832 Hi Viz braid and was curious as what leader length folks prefer. I have been using 24" to 32" FC leader and haven't had any issues using standard braid. What's the general consensus?
  11. As soon as I can get out on the water, I'll report back as to my impressions. After I received the Carbon X, I was so impressed with it that I ordered another one. The proof will be in the pudding and I'll post as soon as I can...
  12. Piscifun Carbon X 3000 shallow spool
  13. I wanted an extra spool and the shallow spool was the only one I could find....
  14. Even if it's a "braid ready" spool?
  15. I just picked up a shallow spool for my Piscifun Carbon X's. The deep spools which came with the reels I have backed with old braid or mono and topped off with about 120 yards of braid. The shallow spool's braid capacity is 15# braid 130 yards. It seems like the shallow spool will eliminate the need for backing. Any thoughts on going with a shallow spool?...........
  16. With all the choices of color, is this just marketing or does it make a significant difference to the bass. Obviously hi vis line makes it easier for us, but what happens underwater and more importantly, what do the bass see (or not see) ?.......
  17. Yes and yes.....
  18. There is one size smaller. The "0" size is 15# rated and is extremely small.
  19. I think you'll be happy with the #2 Fastach clip. For me it's the perfect size.....
  20. Regardless of hook choice, wicked sharp hooks bring home the bacon.....
  21. I'm late to the party, but aquarium air line tubing cut to size works like a charm. Cheap too. A dab of super glue will keep it in place.......
  22. What exactly makes up a high end spinning reel as compared to the middle of the road spinning reels? There are many sub $100 reels that perform quite nicely and there are a number of spinners that cost many times that amount. What's the difference?.... and are they worth it?
  23. I used the "rod" holder strap on it to secure the needle holders. You could do the same with the Gerber. I did sew a loop of webbing so the Gerber would secure on the shoulder strap. Did that answer your question?
  24. I think the hood anchors would be a good choice..........
  25. Another item that might prove helpful is hood anchors. Depending on the length or your yak and vehicle, a bow line might rub the grill facia. Here's what a hood anchor looks like...
