  1. I prefer them for some techniques. I have two CTE200GT. One is on a jig/ weighted soft plastics rig: MBR844C. The other is on my big and deep cranking rod: Lamiglas SR705R. 8-)
  2. Well now, this thread surprises me... As a confirmed Yamamoto-holic, I have been extremely impressed with the Rage Tail line-up. In addition to my own success with their products, I have personally watched others slay 'em with both the Shad and Lobster. The Anaconda is awesome for targeting big bass and has proven itself in several Professional Tournaments. So, Rage Tail has a permanent place in my line-up and if you are not fishing the Shad, Lobster and the Anaconda, you are making a big mistake! I rate the entire product line, AAA. 8-)
  3. What! She's a beauty, dark and striped... Exactly the coloration I would choose for a replica mount. 8-)
  4. CONGRATULATIONS!
  5. The Guarantee: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 8-)
  6. For jigs and soft plastics, rod sensitivity is VERY important. For "moving" baits, sensitivity is much less important. Single hook lures still require a firm tip, treble hooks a soft tip. Length comes into play for casting distance and comfort. I prefer 7' rods except for topwater and jerkbaits. For me, a 6 1/2' foot rod is easier to maneuver. 8-)
  7. When it was first introduced, I spooled up a rig. The Ironsilk frays badly and was only used on one outing before throwing it all away. There may be worse line, but I don't know what it would be. :-X
  8. First accident, spilled half a jar on an old tackle bag used for storage. My fishing room will air out in a few days, it hope, but the bag is in the trash. Be careful guys, JJ's is great stuff, but you need to pay attention. :-X
  9. Your situation is going to be very challenging. I would focus on structure in deep water: steeply sloping points, ledges, drops and humps. Three lures: DD22, 1/2 oz jig & trailer and a C-rigged soft plastic of your choice. Fish slow and then slow down. If you decide to try shallow, and I'm sure you will, jerkbaits and Rat-L-Traps are my suggestions. Maybe a spinnerbait. 8-)
  10. Thanks Raul! I think nearly everyone, including myself, assumed raising the status of the alert to Stage 5 meant something far more ominious. So, what defines Stage 6?
  11. 1/2 oz Widegap, banded. Longevity is not an issue for me, that's not how I fish a jig. Although I usually get them back in a boat, that's rarely the case from shore. p.s. I fish GMAN's jigs as delivered, no modification of skirt or weedguard. http://www.custombassfishinglures.com/index.php/jigs-widgap 8-)
  12. Not if you value your lures. My ponds are "open" with a little structure and very little cover. I still manage to lose a few jigs and/or soft plastics on every outing! Lures that run shallow or float are (usually) fine, but anything with depth may be lost. In a boat, lure retrievers are useful, but not so from the bank. If you fish from the shore, be prepared to lose your stuff. Note: In my opinion, if you're not getting hung-up occasionally, you're not fishing in the right spots. So, plan your lure selection accordingly. 8-)
  13. Thanks firefighter15, I missed this one. Pinky, I know you're new, but this is a "friendly" Forum. I hope you can be a little less aggressive in future posts. However, I do agree with you...Comparing rod weights should be apples and apples, not apples and oranges (pun intended). -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  14. Memphis metro, east side. The smallmouth in my avatar were caught below Pickwick Dam. Maybe we can hook-up some weekend, I'm there a lot! -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior 8-)
  15. Welcome aboard! This should help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 8-)
  16. That's a fabulous day! Was your guide Spinnerbait Kid? 8-)
  17. I like matching colors, too! But trust me, fish really don't care. 8-)
  18. Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test) Baitcasting gear: #12 Ultra Soft or original Hybrid #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb test) All line will perform better if treated with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner. 8-)
  19. Just to clear up the terminology: Structure = bottom contour Ledges, humps, points, creek beds, roads, gravel flats and pools are examples. Think permanent, not temporary features. Cover = vegetation, broadly defined Most of the reservoirs on the Tennessee River system are predominately "structure" lakes the better part of the year. Guntersville would be an exception and there may be others. Another huge difference is current. Even if you don't notice water release, it generally has a big impact on the fishing. If you fish the upper "river" portions of the reservoirs, current is everything. 8-)
  20. Geez...Two years? >
  21. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  22. When will I turn "new"?
  23. Quality and numbers, that's quite a combination! 8-)
  24. The CTE200GT and CTE201GT are precision reels. Strong, smooth, silent and reliant. They are built like tanks and with basic maintenance, they will last a lifetime. I have two CTE200GT. One is dedicated to a Lamiglas SR705 for deep crank baits and other big treble hook lures. The other is saddled to a G. Loomis GLX MBR844C used predominately for big soft plastics and as my striper rig. 8-)
