Yep, we got them to build tools/machines with precision so that we can eliminate potential issues with using one's thumb as a drag. Using a quality reel's drag provides for a much more consistent release of line when necessary. No thought is required. Set the drag and forget it. There is also zero reason to tighten the drag down to achieve an effective hookset. It doesn't take near the pressure that people seem to think to drive a hook through a bass's mouth. Ike also annoys me when he "feeds the fish line". I can't think of a single reason why this would help at all. He's got a high quality reel that is more than capable of releasing the line as needed. "Feeding it line" is just a waste of time. Word! p.s. I test my drag by "feel" before my first cast and occasionally during an outing, but never while fighting a fish...NEVER!

Blue is THE COLOR, chartreuse accents or all chartreuse is another very productive color. Shallow cranks, including lipless cranks; Shak-e2 jig heads with the trailer of your choice (Rage Tail Lobster or GYCB Kut-Tail are good choices); spinnerbaits (chartreuse); and a jig (black with blue trailer) are all you need. Fish are both shallow and a little deeper (12'). Humps, roadbeds and points around the mouth of coves and arms were always productive. Some had great luck flipping lay downs and isolated cover. Fish every dock! 8-)

Wow! This hasn't come up in nearly two weeks... Anyhow, it doesn't really matter, but this is the science behind dominant hand retrieve: By George Welcome Why is the reel handle on the right hand side? Let's get technical, as there are in fact reasons, not just some lame holdover from days past that put the handles where they are. What will move the fish during retrieval is placed to the strong hand! A baitcast is designed to be used as a winch, so it is the reel that retrieves the fish. Hence if you are right handed the handle is in your right hand. A spinning reel is designed to pick up unloaded or loose line, not retrieve the fish. Hence it is the rod that does the retrieval, so it is the rod that is in your strong hand. If you are right handed then the pole goes to the right hand.
