  1. The Blood Knot is excellent, too, but it is a bit more bulky because of the twists on either side of the opening used to connect the lines. http://www.animatedknots.com/bloodknot/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com 8-)
  2. Geez...Where's the belly? 6 lb male? Woo-Hoo! 8-)
  3. You need to read through this thread: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189609782 8-)
  4. Albright Knot http://www.animatedknots.com/albright/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com 8-)
  5. "All of the bass I have caught on this lure have been caught on structure in deep, open water." Maybe some other guys will post up later with other suggestions, but i haven't caught a fish in shallow water, in vegetation or around cover. That doesn't mean it won't work, it just hasn't worked for me. The theory is, this dumb fish is out where he shouldn't be swimming. 8-)

I fish GMAN, Micro Munch Tackle and Evolution jigs. All three use high quality components, but the Evolution takes it a step further: http://evolutionlures.com/ 8-)
  7. I have had good luck with the Baby Bass. The numbers are low, but the quality high. This is a "cast & retrieve" lure, you don't add any action to the presentation. All of the bass I have caught on this lure have been caught on structure in deep, open water. Two important suggestions (from Mattlures): (1) Lubricate the Baby Bass with MegaStrike. (2) When you detect a strike, set the hook HARD and bring the fish to you. "Playing" the fish will result in losing the fish. Use power gear and land the big girl! 8-)
  8. No. I added the "t" to my original post..."trip".
  9. Well now, "settling for a 6 lber" isn't all that bad! 8-)
  10. I had a similar experience. My tournament career lasted exactly a day and a half. >
  11. Yeah, and if I were 6'10" and shot the ball like Michael Jordan, I'd be playing ball in the NBA. Coulda, woulda, shoulda if "and" and "but" ruled the world! Back on topic...Judging a guy based on one short encounter is often a mistake. Nice guys aren't always "nice". As a group, it's the business of professional anglers to be pleasant in public. Representing sponsors is what pays the bills. Collecting a check once and awhile keeps them in the game, but otherwise, that's the gravy not the meat and potatoes! 8-)
  12. Man, what a story. Great post. 8-)
  13. Some bad luck didn't ruin a great trip. Great post. Congrats! 8-)
  14. Wow! Great chance for the fish of a lifetime. 8-)
  15. How 'bout posting a summary? I don't subscribe to the magazine, but I'm very interested in the article and answers to this question. Thanks! 8-)
  16. Welcome aboard! Next time you head to Orlando, consider taking your dad fishing with George Welcome at Stick Marsh/ Farm 13. http://imaginationbassin.com/ 8-)
  17. Too cool! 8-)
  18. St. Croix Avid AVC or AVS, 66MF or 70MF. :
  19. Great post SteveF From a tactical standpoint, always cast upstream or across stream, never downstream. If you fish from the bank, soft plastics fished weedless, topwater, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits are your friends. Jigs and diving crankbaits may be effective, but you will lose them. 8-)
  20. St. Croix Avid AVC or AVS, 66MF or 70MF would work well for the techniques you stated. 8-)
  21. Nice fish, great pics! 8-)
  22. The Shimano Citica, new or used, would be a good reel to start with. Everyone I know who has one, loves it! If you are patient, they pop up in our Flea Market occasionally. For $60-$80 you should be able to pick up a D, the E is $120 MSRP, but might show up on the Flea Market, too. http://www.deloscustomtackleshack.com/reels/shimanocitaca_200e.html
