  1. Let's all remember, there is no requirement for anyone to respond to a question. Redundancy is par for the course. If you want to suggest the BassResource Library, which I often do, that's helpful. On the other hand, if you explained why you tie a Palomar Knot yesterday, you don't need to do it again today! Another feature I use quite often is my "Favorites" folder. An example is "Top 10 Baits/ Lures". The thread is three years old and I have updated my response to add Rage Tail and Caviton lures I have added to my tackle: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1143177139 8-)
  2. Just to add more confusion to the discussion, an alternative to the MBR844C is the BCR854 which I recently acquired. The difference is the X Fast tip on the BCR. I think the MBR844C might be more versatile, but as a dedicated jig rod, I'm very impressed with the BCR. 8-)
  3. I bought a Dobyns 683C Champion Series on a whim at a Boat & Fishing Expo. I really haven't decided if split grip is for me, but if your criteria is light weight with solid backbone, this might be for you. The rod is built to Gary's specifications and issues with his first production rods have been resolved. That said, the reel seats are FUJI, but the guides are "no-name". Of course, they are promoted "just as good or better", we'll see. Otherwise, the blue black and silver has the bling-bling many may like. I put a CH50MG on mine that matches up very well. So, the jury is still out for me, but the Dobyns are certainly an option to consider. Those that fish them have totally commited to this brand which means a lot if you know anything about the Brokeju. 8-)
  4. When you fishing Rage Tail soft plastics, you'll probably find your own favorite, but most people really like the Shad. My preference is the 10" Anaconda, but after watching Big-O killin' 'em with the Lobster, that may become my next "favorite". 8-)
  5. Perfect! 8-)
  6. Word! Some guys do just fine with black only. 8-)
  7. Paca Craws are excellent, the Rage Tail Lobster is one of today's "Hot Baits" and I like the GYCB Flappin' Hog. I fish these soft plastics on Evolution Shak-e2 jig heads. Don't forget your MegaStrike or JJ's Magic. 8-)
  8. The original Slug-Go is my go-to bait in heavy cover, especially lily pads. I rig the bait weedless and weightless. To work the Slug-Go I try to imitate a feeding minnow, working a specific spot then moving the bait up to work another. The strike is never subtle. What is especially important is not setting the hook until you feel the weight of the fish, not when it strikes. With a little concentration your hook-up ratio will improve dramatically. 8-)
  9. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  10. You girls look cold. Great post! ;D ;D ;D
  11. So, what's a Senko? How do you rig them and what color should I get?
  12. Specifically, AVC70MHF. 8-)
  13. Everyone that fished Shak-e2 jig heads caught fish. I know many of the guys had their baits slathered with MegaStrike, too! Thank you for the member gifts and your generosity. I'm sure the new spinnerbait will be a big hit. 8-)
  14. flechero, If a fellow is going to fish big, deep diving lures on a regular basis, he needs another rod & reel combination. For me that's a Lamiglas SR704R/ CTE200GT. However, the AVC70MM will work for occasional heavy lifting. 8-)
  15. Avid AVC70MM. This rod loads up for some of the longest casts you will ever make. You will like everything about this rod for light and medium weight crankbaits. Although I use a different set-up for deep divers, this rod will handle them, too. 8-)
  16. Radio or CD... Tennessee smallmouth are attracted to loud country music! 8-)
  17. Here are some ideas from another thread: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1143177139 8-)
  18. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  19. St. Croix Avid... "All-around" with the emphasis on soft plastics and jigs: AVC70MHF "All-around" with the emphasis on treble hook lures: AVC66MF. Another to consider, AVC68MXF. 8-)
  20. Shimano of course...Specifically CTE200GT. 8-)
  21. You are welcome! Most guys like Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft, but some don't. Try it and see what you think, the cost is nominal and you might find your "new line". 8-)
